  3. Very excited about these! Happy to know that S vs T will stlil be an opposed roll so to speak. Happy to see the flat to hit with WS instead of the Vs roll there. And I am so PLEASED to see no Armor Values!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. According to the Foley Twitter feed, Charging Units attack first, afterwards units will fight in alternating activations. I like the sound of that.

  8. Hey folks, As Andy mentioned on tonight’s Warhammer 40,000 Live Q&A over on Facebook, our Customer Service teams are all set to give you vouchers for any codexes or Warhammer 40,000 rulebooks you’ve bought in the last 8 weeks. So, if you’ve just bought a codex for a new army, or the rules for Warhammer 40,000 itself, in the weeks before the new edition was announced last Saturday, we’ll send you a voucher for the cost of your book. Usually, we’d do this for up to 4 weeks before the update was announced, but as we’re so excited about the new edition of Warhammer 40,000, we’ll be extending this to 8 weeks (8 weeks for the 8th edition!). And of course, you can keep your book(s). You can claim a voucher no matter where you bought your codex and/or rulebook, as long as you have your proof of purchase and it’s dated between the 25th of February 2017 and the 22nd of April 2017. We have a few different Customer Service teams, each helping a different part of the world. Find the email address for your local Customer Service team here: games-workshop.com/Contact-Us

  11. In another trial run of my NCA OFCC list, I played Pete with his ALEPH. In typical Pete fashion, he systematically dismantled me, further impressing upon me that I find that list, and the idea of NCA in general, to be reasonably effective but uninspiring. New project is to test out a FRRM list with Mirage 5 for the big show. It might not be effective, but parachuting werewolves are always fun. Eric and I talked tactics after game night, and I think I've got some ideas I'm going to try and put into practice in my next couple test games. I'll be giving it a first run tomorrow against Bob, so we'll see how it does, and if I like it, I've got some models to buy/paint...

  13. I'm liking everything I am hearing so far. I really do like the 90 minute goal, for games. If I want a 3-4 hour game, I'll field more models, and have lots of beers. :)

  14. Also, I love that all the ITC haters out there have to eat crow considering that Reece and Frankie got name dropped as big time contributors to the playtesting of 8th edition. That makes me super happy because I always believed in what they were doing and GW obviously agreed.

  15. Below is a (very) rough sketch of the plans for my display base. Guides are A&A mercenaries that are armed with javelins and not slowed by uneven ground. Guides permits the owning player to: 1) move one element of terrain, or 2) remove one element of terrain, or 3) add to the table one M x M element of terrain. I have the perfect piece of 6" DIA modular terrain (made by Worldsmith Industries), that I will rest in a circular insert in the display base.

  16. Had a great time! We had 10 awesome generals and some really great armies on the tables! 3 generals from Bellingham, 1 from Seattle, and 6 local players. Had lots of people checking out games, and 3 people who were interested in either trying out 9th Age or previous 9th Age players looking at playing it some more. Looking forward to 9th Age at OFCC, and looking forward to seeing the community grow for this great set of rules!

  17. Any one played this yet? I just picked it up for about half price. Looks really interesting but I'd be lying if the permanent alteration of the game while playing does not go wholly against my nature.

  19. It'll take people a while but they'll get giddy when I 'make a mistake' and then feel silly when they realize it doesn't matter anymore. the same thing happened a bunch when I would measure templates in the movement phase and people thought I forgot to finish moving. Good times.

  20. Looking at the baseline stats here,I can say that if its anything like AoS,there is a F ton of variable outcomes once you take into account all the bespoke unit card rules.Keeping Str and Toughness is interesting as well..cant wait to see a complete dataslate. This is looking really good folks!

  21. Or if there are Units that are better at defending, it will be some unique rule on their dataslate giving Attackers -1 to Hit or making them re-roll 6s or something.

  22. You'll just roll your attacks without taking your opponent into account and he will do the same. No one will be better at defending.

  24. A stationary fighter equipped with a photo-visor reduces the penalty when shooting at a model in cover by 1. So, partial cover is ignored and cover counts as a -1 to hit modifier rather than -2. Please do not use any when fighting my Harlequins. Pretty please.

  26. In the new edition, the rules team were keen to have the profile work harder – to better distinguish between the different units so that, for example, Eldar will run faster than Guardsmen, and Hormagaunts run faster than both.""" Hormagaunts run faster than both.!!! they are movement 7 at lest.

  27. Since it looks like they are using the Battle Shock system from AoS in lieu of traditional Morale Tests, Ld 7 is actually really good for a Troops choice.

  29. I assume it'll top at 6+. So s1 vs t10 would be a 6. But notice that vehicles have armor saves too. Assume all heavy vehicles will be 2+, so even though a lasgun can wound, the tank can save. 72 shots on average to wound a t5+ with 2+ and hitting on 4s. Heck, even the dreadnaught would require 288 lasgun shots to bring down on average. Possible, but hard to pull off in a normal game. But it does help with avoiding completely wasting shots.

  31. Yeah good choice on Chaos God on this one Scott! In all honesty i don't think it could of worked for anyone but the god of excess with maybe Tzeentch? Nurgle, Khorne just wouldn't of looked right in storm cast bits.

  33. Portland Game store has a good Malifaux showing on Tuesdays. Typically meet up there between 5-6pm and go until close. I'll be heading there tonight for a pickup game if anyone wants to check it out. I will bring an extra painted crew to loan someone for the night.

  36. Which is the same justification used to run min-maxed lists. I'm using the rules to the best of my ability to win the game. As you say, a moot point now, thankfully.

  37. Call it what you want, but it always took me out of the game to see units in big Os or spread out to the max. To me, that's just as abusive as min maxing (not that I didn't do it too!) or any of the other frowned on tactics in 40k.

  38. Has anyone heard of the Hobo card game from MOM (mind over matter inc)? I picked it up at a thrift store but it doesnt have any rules in it. http://www.ebay.com/itm/HOBO-Card-Game-/152490653707?hash=item238126b80b:g:XOEAAOSwWxNYq5kU Google searching for it doesnt pick anything up, its from 1987 and nothing is popping up on board game geek.

  42. Looks like they learned quite a bit from the AoS launch. I wish they had done it the other way around. I do hope it works. I have sunk thousands into 40K and would really like an edition that brings me back to playing.

  43. For tanks and stuff nothing beats battle foam. As you expand keep an eye on the pack plus and make sure your big carrier interacts with it.

  44. Good. Although I can appreciate, on an intellectual level, why many games don't allow pre-measuring, the practical reality is that allowing pre-measuring just cuts down on so many arguments, allowing for faster and smoother gameplay.

  45. Splinx: I've never been able to make red on green work without looking like Christmas. The white outline on the red dags makes all the difference in the world. Well done! Pumpkin: Hot damn, them's some good lookin bugs! DasBox: It's become clear that you must have a robot arm set to "paint and assemble awesome minis" that operates while the weak, fleshy bits sleep. Ace stuff!

  46. Lets divorce ourselves from this idea that balanced games are somehow the delight of fluff bunnies and not tournament players. EVERYONE benefits from balanced rules. EVERYONE wants close and fun games. Plasma pistols being 15 pts doesnt help anyone. Better balance would encourage more diversity. Plain and simple.
