  1. It is 32 degrees cooler today! This morning, I hiked the boulder pile from the beach to the cliffs. I made it 3/4 of the way to the point before my daughter wanted to turn back. Just got back from another walk in the surf. The beach is flat and compact and effortlessly to walk on.

Teams can only win a single award, and the order in which they are awarded is: Overall > Sports > Painting > Spirit Overall scores were ~50% Sports, ~25% Paint, and ~25% Spirit Note: Crusade Force Bartel and Kill! Maim! Beer! has last minute drops and were only scoring 3 players through the weekend

  5. I admit, I kind of agree. As a lifelong gamer, when I was told that we had to go get George when we opened the doors, that little alarm bell went off in my head and said "Go ahead, let the other guy trigger the trap." It's like when you're playing D&D, and as you approach a door, the DM starts rolling. "No, guys, seriously. I think we should let the bard go in first. There might be someone in there that we want to make a good first impression on." As for the tables, I liked having all that space to set my crap. Being able to put down my tournament box, dice, tokens, mission briefings, glass of beer, hat, etc. without crowding whoever was next to me was really nice. I've played at a lot of events where the tables are crammed so close together that you're bumping elbows with the player next to you, and I really prefer having some space to work.

  7. Been thinking about the terrain issues and ways that we might be able to work on them, I think a lot of it boils down to the objective room. Nearly every table had it dead center for each game, as the tables were designed knowing that it was needed for at least one of the scenarios. The problem with that is that most objective rooms are not that tall, or even just an open 4-sided box for ease of use when you need to get inside of it. If we want to use objective room scenarios next year then it might be worth it to encourage people to build the table knowing that it will need to be altered for this scenario, but that it shouldn't necessarily be designed around an 8-inch box in the middle.

  13. 1. Prizes were fine. Obviously everyone loves stuff but as others have said it really isn't a big deal. We split an outrage box so I was happy. 2. I didn't see any overpowered spec ops but I would like to see a bit of a smaller penalty for dying. I hid my spec ops most of the time as I was afraid of losing the small gains I'd made with him. 1b. Scenarios were mostly fine. I do agree with people about the biotechvore and final scenarios though. Having remotes be unaffected by the fog didn't matter in my game but it could be brutal in others. The final mission it definitely felt like I was punished for going first. It was only 5 zombies but I was at the end of my turn and had to deal with them rather than my opponent which definitely hurt. If there are going to be special events in the scenarios then I would prefer it to impact both players equally. 2b. They were totally fine. 3b. I would prefer to see the points go to 300. If you are worried about time then you could still make it limited insertion. At 300pts this allows people to bring cool centerpiece models like tags or fun heavy infantry. It gives more options for fun and interesting lists and the centerpiece models go towards the cool hobby emphasis that the OFCC is all about. I also would definitely like to see some better table set ups next year. There was one table in particular that I played on that looked great but wasn't the most functional. I felt sorry for the open ground Jay had to slog through under tons of my AROs. I would also like to have people vote on favorite tables next year just as we do on favorite armies. Also a bit more communication next year as far as whether or not the objective room will be infinitely high throughout the event. Our table was designed under the assumption that it was. I think specialists should be more important as well. I really like the vibe of infinity where you have your bruisers move up and hate on your enemies and lay down suppressing fire while the skillful specialized troopers follow behind to accomplish vital objectives. This doesn't need to be in every scenario but having everyone able to do anything felt like it took a bit away from the infinity vibe. I would like to see the addition of a best general as an awards category. I like giving a nod to the best players and feel it doesn't turn it into too much of a competitive event. I've been to 40k and fantasy OFCCs where there is a best general prize and I've only had great and fun games. This list of criticisms may seem like I didn't enjoy myself but I really had a great time. If nothing changes I will still be back next year and loving every second of it, even when Scarface kills all my dudes by turn 2. Thanks for the great event everyone!

  17. Yeah, if I drop the HRMC and grab the Dual HRL's, that nets 17 pts. Could add back the FO on the unidrons, add a second slave drone, add an R-Drone and still have 4 points to play around with. But I'm happy with the HRMC for now, and will be magnetizing weapons loadouts, so will be able to swap around in the future. Maybe in the hands of someone who knows what they are doing... :). I'll get there eventually. Progress: Again, instead of working on the priorities list, I worked on Rodoks. They have been reassembled, with some minor conversions. Having trouble adding images due to size restrictions. May have to host elsewhere, stand by. Edit: Link to my "website" with images http://www.simpleknight.com/rodoks-assemble/

  18. Scared Hitless had a great time as always, but this was probably my favorite OFCC to date. My opponents were fantastic, the painting on the models and tables was fantastic, overall a great vibe. To answer some of your questions: Concerns: 1: I know compared to other places, prizes are thin. I hope no one felted shorted in comparison to the big events like Twinfinity or Rumble on Route 66 or Arizona Armageddon. I think other have said pretty much the same thing, that we don't come for prizes, but more for good games and camaraderie. That being said, you might want to consider going back to individual swag bags. That's where you put your SWM discount code, your patches/buttons (maybe go beyond and ask players what they are playing), get some small stuff like objective markers, camo tokens, LOF Painting templates, etc. Stuff that's universally useful but not too expensive, in addition to team giveaways.. I don't know what percentage of the entry fee actually goes towards prizes, but folks might sell at a discount if they're not willing to donate for prize support. More than willing to help out with this if needed. 2: I worried the booty chart made some spec ops too powerful and caused mismatches. Didn't see it personally, but could imagine something like this coming up. Spec ops base profile generally aren't great, so can't take full advantage of the good gear. Questions: 1: Did people like the scenarios? The scenarios were fun, connected and overall pretty balanced. George did mention to me that there was a lot he may not have thought about, for example the rescue mission. Without knowing in advance, and without a second list, a remote heavy list would have been at a huge disadvantage. To be fair, he told me after the fact that had I asked, he would have said that any unit could sync with civvies, but we played it as written. These types of clarifications before hand would have been nice. Overall very good, just need a second or third pair of eyes, some polish and clarity. 2: Were team give always okay? Just fine. 3: What would you like to see next year? More players! 36 was a fantastic turnout, but how many of us know more infinity players that just didn't show up? Get on your peeps, and let's grow this thing! Scared Hitless is committed to adding a second team, SH2: Electric Boogaloo. Others: Myself at least have taken the feedback about table setup to heart. Got feedback at the event and realized that we had way to open fire-lanes, and too much height in the deployment zone. This will be corrected in the future, but having Kremmet's Treatise on Table Setup to start out with would have made a huge difference to someone who has never setup a table before. I loved, loved, loved having all the space between tables, made a huge difference.

  24. Alright, another OFCC is in the books! This was a fantastic year with lots of great peeps, fun missions and weird dice. (0 | 33) 3.5 SWC | 199 Points Open in Infinity Army Highlights -No one with dice that could hit anything (seriously, troops on each side blew so many easy rolls!) -Antipodes who grabbed a recorder and transmitter saved my bacon -The world's strongest Mulebot -Pano wip finally working out Seriously, this was a weird game. We both spent the majority of our time failing to kill roadblock models and desperately trying to get objectives in a stalemate of a crossfire. In the third turn he came out on top with more recording devices, and grabbed the win. Game two: Ed's Ariadna Ariadna ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 8 1 SPETSNAZ (CH: Ambush Camouflage) HMG / Pistol, CCW, Knife. (1.5 | 38) LINE KAZAK Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 30) 4 SWC | 182 Points Open in Infinity Army I'm forgetting a model from the list, but that is the gist of it. Highlights -My scout dying to a pistol crit from a foxtrot (a sign of things to come in later games) -Chasseur went and ran up the right flank, somehow staying out of sniper range just to fail mulitple attempts to kill a line kazak -Spetz going up the middle to grab a civilian and pull them back around -Having to assassinate his Chasseur in order to unlink his civilian -Finally killing that Kazak with the Chasseur, who happened to be his LT This game was insane back-and-forth, and probably the only game that I had any luck in all weekend. I managed to get the win, but if I had to do it again I wouldn't bet on myself. Game Three: Bob's Nomads Jurisdictional Command of Corregidor ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 8 1 INTRUDER (X-Visor) MULTI Sniper Rifle / Pistol, CCW. (0 | 22) MORAN (Forward Observer) Combi Rifle, CrazyKoalas (2) / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 22) 4 SWC | 178 Points Open in Infinity Army This, plus something else that I can't remember. Highlights -Scout puts down a bot, but ends up taking lots of shots to the face down the road. -The Intruder held down a ton of the board, and I finally managed to bring him down with luck and lots of bullets. -I push my spec ops just a little too far on my second short skill and get shot in the face, ending a last turn run for the beacon. -My spets runs up to finish the job, but suffers the same fate. -Bob's bandit makes a last turn run on the beacon, I manage to stop him right when he makes contact with it and we end in a tie. This game was a lot of fun, and reminded me of how much I fear intruders. That damn sniper had great board coverage and I had to spend a lot of time dislodging him before I could press forward. The last turn was a blast, Bob and I both made epic yet tragic runs for the objectives and ended up with nothing to show but more dead bodies :) Game Four: Chris's Nomads Jurisdictional Command of Corregidor ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 10 ALGUACIL HMG / Pistol, Knife. (1 | 18) ALGUACIL (Forward Observer, Deployable Repeater) Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 12) ALGUACIL Paramedic (MediKit) Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. () 4 SWC | 197 Points Open in Infinity Army Some load outs probably wrong in that one. Highlights -Chris positions his Gecko and I have a nice long shot with my now ODD HMG spec ops. He rolls a one and hits (I'm now realizing this was also a crit, but he thought he needed twos), and I miss on a 14. Spec ops down. -My scout had revealed to shoot as well and missed. -The gecko shoots at the scout and kills it, I fail to hit back. -Gecko gets about halfway up my board and I try to hit it with a missile, missile launcher goes down, Gecko goes into suppressive. -I go after the gecko with antipodes. After getting them all into CC, they are all killed at the same time by shots, but I hit him 3 times at ph 17, ap -Gecko makes all of it's saves on 15s. -Spets goes down and kills and alquacile. Next order spets is crit and misses with 4 shots. -Chasseur moves up, tries to FO for a last minute hail mary. Chasseur either misses and gets crit or just outshot, I can't remember which. -Veronin lives, everything else is dead or a zombie. This game was so epicically bad that I couldn't help but smile. By the end I knew that every move I made would end in tragedy, and indeed it did. Poor Chris felt like absolute crap as he watched his dice crit me time and time again, but that's just how it goes sometimes. I don't know if I'd want to have another game like this, but I would absolutely play Chris anytime. Final Game: Riley's Haqq Hassassin Bahram ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 9 1 1 GHULAM Missile Launcher / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 17) GHULAM Sniper Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 5) 3.5 SWC | 200 Points Open in Infinity Army Highlights -First order of the game, Spets is crit by viral ammo, fails to wound on 4 shots. -My spec op takes out the lasiq, missile launcher from the link, and then gets crit by a sniper shot. -I move the antipodes to block the ladder from his Fiday going after Veronin. -He spies some antipodes, I try to ARO with the missile launcher and get crit. -He moves up and opens the doors, letting out zombies. -I dodge into the room on his last order, manage to get points for the first round! -Chasseur goes on a killing spree, takes out the sniper, spec op, and Leila in just a few orders. -Last turn I think I am in retreat because I forgot that baggage is a thing. -Riley kills off the zombies and grabs George in the last turn for all the points! Another game where all my heavy hitting swc pieces got crit very early on. Oh well, that's how it goes. The Chasseur rallied and did serious work in the second round. If She had stayed alive I might have been able to pull out a win, instead it's a crushing loss for Ariadna. Still, this was another amazing game and I had a great time. There you have it, another OFCC in the books. I've gotten energized about my army again and hope to keep up the momentum on painting, but even as I type that I can hear my inner self doubting it :) Thanks to everyone for putting together a great event, and I look forward to seeing you all again!

  25. I had a great time, and this was the most fun I've had out of 4 or 5 OFCCs I've been to. Simply the best weekend of solid games! I'm known up here in Bellingham to be really grumpy and to hate everything, so I want you to know how much fun I had. :D Anyway, here are my thoughts. I just wanted to preface it with the above disclosure, to let you know I'm grouchy by default, and so you should take everything I say with massive salt. Honestly, prizes were fine for me. I actually really enjoy smaller, more unique items like the Secret Weapon bases and the Fate and Fury dumpster I walked away with. I think for most of us, if we want an Infinity mini bad enough we'll buy it, so having more interesting prizes that you might not otherwise pick up are great. I only really noticed it one time, and that was in a later match, when there was a trooper who if he had been costed, probably would have been at least 1.5 if not 2 SWC. That's a pretty big swing in a 200 point game. I was actually looking forward to finally using XP to build a spec op, so I would either like to see some sort of XP system or perhaps make the Spec Ops optional. In such a small list, adding one more basic rifle trooper was actually a bit of a puzzle in list building. For the most part, I think they were just fine. I didn't like letting anyone be a specialist, all the time. Maybe in a few missions that would be ok. I liked the way the Biotechvore was rewritten to progress, but I didn't like that it was altered to only affect biological units. If you were facing a lot of remotes, you were at a disadvantage as the mission was pressuring you, but not your opponent. The only real beef I had was with the final mission. I chose to go first, got to the room in my second turn, used a lot of coordinated orders and luck to cross some brutal fire lanes, and finally got ready to deal with the room and try and score some points. I asked about opening doors, and was told that the Lockpick program would open just one door. So I spent two orders hacking that, only to find out that the room was trapped, and inside were two ARM 6, two-wound mutants with twin light flame throwers. So going first and trying to achieve the mission was really rough, as I had to spend the rest of my orders trying to deal with the board, and was essentially punished for trying to play the mission. If there are going to be hostile surprises, I would say less is more. A single random enemy that you're not expecting, even if it only takes 1 order to deal with, is still eating up 10% of your order resources. And if there are going to be hostile surprises, maybe there should be some good mixed in - like a panoply, covered position, turret that could be manned, or so on. Otherwise, the first player to try and deal with it is disadvantaged - they put in all the work to clear the room, and the 2nd player can just focus on getting in and scoring points. Also, traps aren't fun. Being told I could open just one door, then having them all open anyway was really not great. If there had been a mixed bag of good/bad inside the room, then I might feel better about it, but as it was, it was just a whole room full of bad, and a bit of a sucker punch after having worked really hard to dig out of my deployment. :D Were we supposed to bring giveaways? D'oh! I did find it a little hard to find the info on the event, seemed like it was buried in the forums. I think a packet or something we could download would be great. I know that's more work. I want to see everyone back, plus more people! I had such a great time. As far as constructive criticism, I would like to see: Terrain (walls, crates, etc) in objective rooms so they're not wide open. Asymmetrical Missions. What I mean by Asymmetrical Missions, is missions in which we have an Attacker and a Defender, or differing mission objectives for each player. My reasoning for this is, ITS missions are built to be super balanced for competitive play, but the OFCC is not about super-polished competitive gaming, but fun, narrative events. So why not abandon the ITS format and try something new? It's more work to write missions like that, but I think it highlights a lot of the possibilities in the rule set. I know I used to really enjoy the wackier missions from the old 40k and WHFB books. Anyhow, thanks to everyone who played, and especially to the organizers. It was really an incredible weekend.

  26. With OFCC over, I thought I'd do a short write-up about what happened and my initial thoughts on Bahram. I'd also like to apologize in advance for the lack of pictures. The only game I remembered to take any was the one that was over so quickly that it didn't matter . LIST Hassassin Bahram ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 9 1 1 GHULAM Missile Launcher / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 17) GHULAM Sniper Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 16) GHULAM Lieutenant Rifle + Light Shotgun / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 12) HUSAM Spec-Ops (4 XP) (Engineer, Hacking Device) Rifle, Light Shotgun / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 5) 3.5 SWC | 200 Points Open in Infinity Army First off, I wanna say that I really enjoyed running this list. The Ghulam link worked fantastically and the Doctor+Nasmat was 100% worth her weight in gold. The only change I'd be tempted by would be to swap the Lasiq and Al-Djabel out for 2xFiday (one with mines and one with a Boarding Shotgun). Even then, that's not a change I'd make in retrospect as both the tables and Viral ended up being huge. GAMES I want to preface this by saying that I didn't get much of a chance to hang out with anybody outside of the actual event and that I slept in one of the worst hotels I've ever been in and I still had a fantastic time. This was due in no small part to how wonderful my opponents were so I wanted to give a special thank you to Jay, Jenni, Bob, Aaron, and Evan. You were all fantastic and I'd play any of you again in a heartbeat. Now, as for the games themselves: Round 1: VS: Jay with his JSA Mission: Modified Cold Sleep Jay's List: Japanese Sectorial Army ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 8 4 HARAMAKI Missile Launcher / Pistol, DA CCW. (0 | 41) 3 SWC | 200 Points Open in Infinity Army Jay's list was a classic Pain Train and one that I knew all too well. Unfortunately, as we weren't using the ITS Specialists rules, they also had the added benefit of being able to accomplish the mission. This lead to a game where I tried to disable a few of the missiles/Oniwaban looking at my objectives so I could score, failing to do so in a timely fashion, and getting smooshed in the score even with only one JSA model being left standing. Overall I had a great time playing the match and would love a rematch sometime. RESULTS: Loss with 1 OP. MEMORABLE MOMENT: On the last order of the game I could've nabbed another Objective Point for my team, but decided to instead go for a coup de grace on a downed Haramaki with my Nazmat for the style points. MISPLAYS: This was the first game of the weekend where I felt I used the mutt poorly. While I did end up landing an E/Marat hit on one of his ML Haramaki which removed him as a problem, I didn't try to do so until after my Ayyar had already eaten a crit missile to the face. Coupling this with failing to throw smoke to go for an entire team's worth of E/Marat lead me to rethink my usage of mutts in future games. Round 2: VS: Jenni's Bakunin Mission: Modified Rescue Jenni's List: Jurisdictional Command of Bakunin ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 6 2 2 TASKMASTER Red Fury, Pulzar, CrazyKoalas + TinBot A (Deflector L1) / Heavy Pistol, DA CCW. (0 | 3) 1 SWC | 155 Points Open in Infinity Army Jenni's list was an interesting one to be sure, but I don't have much experience with Nomads in N3 so who am I to judge (I also I can't remember the last 45 points of it)? This game boiled down to Al-Djabel having an easy time dragging vict-err, "civilians" back to my deployment along with his good friend the Ayyar. This was mostly due to the Taskmaster going down my turn one to a missile to the face along with the Nomad Spec-op and the robots. RESULTS: Win with 5 OP. MEMORABLE MOMENT: Since Jenni's turn two (she was the bottom of the round) started when the 25 minute warning was called, we were concerned about getting three turns in. While I'm betting we could've managed it, by mutually deciding to end it at the bottom of two we had a much more entertaining game. This involved Jenni having a Morlock and KHD Zero work together to down and then Spotlight Leila in order to net Jenni some extra deployment zone in her next game. MISPLAYS: This time around I think I played pretty well. One of the things I wish I'd done a little differently though is my use of Al-Djabel. I was so stuck on using him as an extractor, as normal Rescue lends itself super well to Fidays being used that way, that I wasted a bunch of orders doing weird [big bad swear word] in order to drop the threats such as the Sin Eater that Al-Djabel could've easily dealt with. Round 3: VS: Bob's Nomads Mission: Modified Biotechvore Bob's List: Nomads ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 6 INTRUDER (X-Visor) MULTI Sniper Rifle / Pistol, CCW. (1.5 | 43) JAGUAR Light Shotgun, Smoke Grenades / Pistol, E/M CCW. (0 | 13) VORTEX Spec-Ops (0 XP) Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (1 | 26) 3 SWC | 131 Points Open in Infinity Army Unfortunately, I didn't nab a copy of Bob's courtesy list so this is all I can remember about it. This game was marked by a series of early rolls that decided the game with my Lasiq and Ghulam link dropping everything Bob engaged them with and then my Ayyar+Al-Djabel getting rid of the other threats. In the end, the only thing left to do was mop up a messy game. RESULTS: Win with 9 OP. MEMORABLE MOMENT: I tried to drop Bob's last model (a lone Alguacil I believe) with my Ayyar with my last regular order only to fail. My Lt. Ghulam decided he could do better only to also get plugged in the face. Just goes to show you not to get too greedy or it'll come back to bite you. MISPLAYS: I think I mostly played this game pretty clean although I do think there had to have been a better way to deal with Bob's Suppressive Fire models than just wandering in and tanking with the Ayyar. I couldn't think of it at the time, but I'm sure it existed. Round 4: VS: Aaron's PanO Aaron's List: PanOceania ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 9 INDIGO Spec-Ops (4 XP) (Engineer, Doctor) Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 12) AKAL COMMANDO Combi Rifle / Pistol, E/M CCW. (0 | 22) 4 SWC | 200 Points Open in Infinity Army This was about the most unfortunate game I played of the weekend. Aaron just couldn't catch a break as every model he moved was in LoF of either my Ghulam sniper, ML Ghulam, or Lasiq which left him with zero models at the end of his turn. RESULTS: Win with 9 OP. MEMORABLE MOMENT: That time I deployed all my snipers on three-story buildings...yeah, sure, that one. MISPLAYS: Really, this wasn't a game where either of us played much at all. I pretty much just rolled crits and then walked around an empty board. Round 5: VS: Evan's Ariadna Mission: Modified Armory Evan's List: Ariadna ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 9 1 COLONEL VORONIN Lieutenant Rifle / Assault Pistol, AP CC Weapon. (0 | 21) DOZER (Traktor Mul Control Device) Rifle, D-Charges / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 14) TRAKTOR MUL Katyusha MRL / Electric Pulse. (1 | 11) INTEL Spec-Ops (4 XP) (Doctor, Hacking Device) Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 8) ASSAULT PACK . (0 | 25) HANDLER Rifle, Smoke Light Grenade Launcher / Pistol, Knife. (- | 10) x3 ANTIPODE AP CC Weapon. (- | 15) CHASSEUR (Forward Observer) Rifle, Light Flamethrower, Antipersonnel Mines / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 20) SCOUT (Forward Observer) Ojotnik, D-Charges, Antipersonnel Mines / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 30) TANKHUNTER Missile Launcher / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 29) SPETSNAZ (CH: Ambush Camouflage) HMG / Pistol, CCW, Knife. (1.5 | 38) 4 SWC | 196 Points Open in Infinity Army This list might be a little off as I was constructing it from the memory of what happened rather than any hard data. This was another game decided by early crits and three-story buildings as my Lasiq managed to drop the Spetsnaz on I believe the first order of the game with a crit while the Ghulam sniper did the same to both the Tankhunter and the Spec-op (who was rocking +6 ARM, ODD, and a HMG). Still, Evan managed to give as good as he gave dropping my Spec-op (+5 ARM, Motorcycle, and HMG), ML Ghulam, Lasiq, and Ghulam sniper in the first two rounds to even things up. That round two was pretty amazing as I was down to three regular orders and spent them killing off all the mines and camo people hiding in and around the Armory with just a (wounded) Ayyar. All in all a great and close game that the points did not reflect. RESULTS: Win with 9 OP. MEMORABLE MOMENT: I had a point where I spent a Command Token to make my mutt's order Regular so I could re-holo with the Ayyar and both slice down with the real Ayyar to avoid a mine, cause said mine to go off with a holo, and kill the Chasseur outside of her Sixth Sense L1 zone to get the -6 from the Ayyar all at the same time. I was definitely proud of that. MISPLAYS: The biggest misplay of the game was also the one that allowed Evan to gather any momentum at all. First, I activated Al-Djabel (still in Impersonation state) and entered the LoF of the Chasseur to let it dodge into the objective room. Then I decided that my ARM 6 Spec-op with a shotgun couldn't possibly lose in a firefight with said Chasseur's pistol before proceeding to die to just that. Couple that with not putting any other models in the objective room and I feel frankly super embarrassed with my play. If that's not bad enough, I could've just shot the zombies that were between the Chasseur and my Spec-op with my shotgun to force her to make dodge -3 rolls without endangering my Spec-op at all. Just sloppy play.... Anyway, I would say I ended up with a pretty successful run going 4-1 with 33/45 possible objective points. Next up I'll write up my thoughts on the list itself and my first few games playing Haqqislam. But for now, sleep!

  28. Full Auto is indeed +1 burst for level one and -3 to hit when using a BS attack. The +1 burst is only in active turn, the -3 is in active and reactive as long as the player is shooting. New skill for Tarik and the spitfire Khawarij: Fatality. Level one causes the user's weapons to cause +1 damage over normal, level 2 causes them to crit on rolls of a 1 as well as their normal crit value. Essentially the second part doubles your chance to crit making the skill a little bit insane :)

  35. The Chaos Space Marines codex is nearly here, and with it, rules for seven Chaos Legions as well as Renegade Chaos Marines. We’ll be previewing these in detail in the coming week, as well as looking at some of the new Stratagems and the best units in the new codex for each Legion. We’ll be looking at the Emperor’s Children, Iron Warriors, Night Lords, World Eaters, Black Legion, Word Bearers, Alpha Legion and the Renegade Chapters. If you’re wondering where the Death Guard and Thousand Sons are, don’t panic! Both these armies are getting codexes of their own. The Black Legion combine a ferocious hatred for the Imperium with rigid organisation and discipline. In the new Codex: Chaos Space Marines, the Black Legion are manoeuvrable, versatile and have one of the best characters in the game as a force multiplier. The Trait Black Crusaders is a subtle but useful bonus that’s best on your core infantry. A Chaos Space Marines army with this trait will be able to make maximum use of Chosen, Terminators and standard Chaos Space Marines, capable of pulling back rapidly from dangerous units or closing in on the enemy while whittling them down with hails of firepower. Abaddon the Despoiler Abaddon deserves special highlighting as a key element in any Black Legion force; indeed, he’s as much a part of your Legion Trait as anything else. Abaddon is one of the strongest characters in the game, capable of dealing enormous damage in close combat, allowing huge swathes of your army to essentially ignore Morale and providing vital re-rolls to hit. He even gives you a couple of extra Command Points. This guy is the force multiplier that’s going to make Black Legion armies incredibly flexible and incredibly deadly. At the head of a rapidly advancing spearhead of Black Legion troops, he’ll make sure your shots are hitting and your larger squads aren’t breaking. Even Cultists are going to pack more of a punch fighting alongside the Despoiler. Finally, Abaddon’s (or any other Black Legion character’s) Warlord Trait is First Among Traitors: Death to the False Emperor is already a powerful ability, and this means you’ll be triggering additional attacks on a 5+… that’s 1/3rd of the time! It’s also very important if you’re going to be using Chaos Terminators – while these guys usually won’t be able to gain additional attacks with their power fists due to the -1 modifier to hit, with this trait, they’ll be able to. It’s basically like a free Icon of Excess for all your units. Best Units Chosen with plasma guns have always been a popular pick in Chaos Space Marines armies, and in the Black Legion they’re free to close in on your enemy while laying down a hail of armour piercing fire before charging and unleashing a high volume of attacks. If you’re feeling brave, the presence of Abaddon should mitigate the risk of an overcharged plasma weapon attack. Standard Chaos Space Marines are superb in a Black Legion army. You’ll be able to advance up the field while laying down a devastating hail of bolter fire, and, thanks to the improved Leadership of Black Legion units, you’ll be able to take them in full-sized squads of 20. Combined with the Let the Galaxy Burn Stratagem, these line infantry will be deadly. Alternatively, keep Abaddon nearby to ignore morale and let the squad re-roll their hits for free. It’s worth noting that with the new Chaos Space Marines codex, Noise Marines, Plague Marines, Berzerkers and Rubric Marines are available to a much wider range of Chaos Legions. The Black Legion has always been renowned for bringing together Chaos Space Marines from far and wide in its warbands, and any of the “cult marines” make for a strong choice in the army. Rubric Marines are a particularly potent pick, able to fire their armour-piercing inferno boltguns on the move thanks to Black Crusaders. How to play them Fill out your Troops choices with Chaos Space Marines and your Elites with Chosen or Terminators. Form up around Abbadon and begin moving up the field – either closing in on objectives or getting into close combat with vulnerable targets. This is an army where positioning to capitalise on powerful aura abilities is going to be key – use your Advance move to make sure that every unit is benefitting from Abaddon’s command. It’s a pretty great time to be a Black Legion player – as well as having bragging rights for having (finally) destroyed Cadia, and the new codex, fans can look forward to Aaron Dembski-Bowden’s latest novel in his series following Ezekyle Abaddon’s ascent to power. ‘Black Legion’ sees Abaddon attempt to unite the disparate Chaos Legions for the first time and is a great way to get some inspiration for your own Chaos Space Marines. That’s not all, however. Community team member Rhuairidh, who wrote this article, is so confident of the awesomeness of the Black Legion that he’s offered to prove it with a game on Warhammer Live. Tune in at 6:00 pm UK time on Twitch to watch it for free – he’ll be battling the Grey Knights.

  36. Chaos is on the rise – but hope is far from lost. The new Grey Knights codex is incoming, and with it, new ways to build an army from Titan, new Stratagems, new psychic powers and more. With the new codex, the Grey Knights are getting their hands on some new units. The most exciting of these is the option to take a Nemesis Dreadknight for the Grand Master. The higher Ballistic Skill of the Grand Master pays dividends with the powerful ranged weapons such as the heavy psycannon, while the Grand Master’s iron halo makes the Dreadknight even more durable. Most excitingly, you’ll be able to field an entire army of nothing but Dreadknights by using Spearhead Detachments – by our calculations, you can fit about 8 into 2000 points comfortably. Grey Knights players are also gaining access to the Stormtalon Gunship and Stormhawk Interceptor, adding some much needed and potent anti-air options in a largely melee-focused army. The new psychic powers are going to be great for every Grey Knights player. Moreso than any other army in the game (bar perhaps the heretical followers of Tzeentch), the Grey Knights are an army that dominates the psychic phase. You’ll be able to make use of all six of your psychic powers every game, and each one is very useful. Our favourite is Astral Aim, which allows Grey Knights units to ignore cover and even fire through walls – combo this with a Purgation Squad wielding psilencers to devastate crucial enemy units that try to hide from the Emperor’s judgement. Stratagems are another potent addition to the Grey Knights. With excellent Troops choices like Strike Squads and Terminator Squads, it’s easy to grab loads of Command Points in a Grey Knights army, and there’s some great new abilities to spend them on: Honour the Chapter is devastating – there’s very little in the game that can stand up to a unit of Paladins attacking twice. Only in Death Does Duty end is a lethal combination with Grey Knights characters and a great way to guarantee a dangerous enemy character pays for killing your favourite Grand Master, (especially if he’s in a Dreadknight). Wisdom of the Ancients is a useful aura ability and an efficient way to boost the accuracy of the high volume, high powered fire from Grey Knights weapons like psycannons. Finally, there are Relics for you to build Grey Knights heroes of your own. As well as returning classics like the Soul Glaive and the Cuirass of Sacrifice, there are some new and unusual artefacts like the Banner of Refining Flame, which allows a Grey Knights Paladin Ancient to incinerate enemies with a super-charged Smite: If you’re a Grey Knights player excited for new ways to play your army, or you’re looking to start your own army of these incorruptible psychic heroes, the new codex is for you. If you’re still hungry for more, tune in to Warhammer TV on Twitch this evening at 6:00 pm (UK time) to watch the codex in action in a battle against the Black Legion. Codex: Grey Knights will be available to pre-order tomorrow.

  37. Looking over how to outfit my rock grinder, I settled on the clearance incinerator. I'm a huge fan of the acid spray Tyrannofex from 6th so this looks like a good time. No 12 in flamer thrown but still cool. For 136 points, I get 10 wounds, the drilldozer blade, a heavy stubber, the clearance incinerator AND blasting charges! Whoohooo. Maybe I will be buying more of these.

  40. Oh I'm sorry, I thought my opponent was supposed to have fun too :P Seriously though, I left the default spell type (or whatever it is called) as I have no idea on any of them. Like I said, this is a quick "see what it looks like". Contamination... lets be honest... it was no fun to face on the field last weekend... I plan to skip it. I think the army will have plenty of nastiness without it. I know it is the bonus for the mono list... but you've never seen the bonus of the glee I get with a whole plaguey army on the field! For the Father (and other upgrades) I was flat outta points and squeezing models already. In Old Warhammer, it was upgrades that really took them over the top so I'd rather err on the side of a fun game for two players. (again, just testing the waters at this point).

  41. So, this will be a little unusual for me, since I don't usually sell armies as a whole, but this was my 2017 OFCC Team Event list (minus the Crusader). I listed the army list below from 7th, which is identical to how you can run it in 8th (it is 1755 instead of 1750 points if you use 8th) except for the two relics. To make it more effective as an 8th list, you could probably add a couple normal bolter guys and mix stuff around, add some vehicles and you're good to go. I'm putting this out there to see if anyone wants a great, tabletop painted starter army for a low price. I also have a small bits bag that is particular to this army that I will include with a purchase. 42. Team D have all made it home safe and sound! I've seen a thank you thread that mostly seems to be oriented towards 9th Age, so I'm going to just put this here. I want to thank the HoG, the Ordo senators, and everyone who helped make this OFCC possible. It was laid-back, easy going, fun, and an absolute blast. In short, it was completely worth the trip out there and I can't wait to see everyone again next year!

  43. Rewatched Blade. Hadn't seen it since it was in the theater. Other than some of the CGI effects, it actually holds up really well. There was one thing that really weirded me out, tho. A while back, I got really into the series Scooby Doo: Mystery Incorporated, in which Udo Kier voices one of the main antagonists. He doesn't change up his voice there at all, so he sounds exactly the same when he's playing Dragonetti in Blade. I kept expecting him to start going on about the Planispheric Disc.

  46. Oh man. You've never seen MK? You're in for a treat. Go watch MK2. It's like MK, but soooo much worse. And the best part of the original Mortal Kombat movie was just the intro song. "MORTAL KOMBAT dun dund undun"

  47. Mortal Kombat. As you know if you read my posts in this thread, I watch a lot of horror movies. But I really don't think I've seen anything as horrifying as Christopher Lambert's Raiden wig. Liu Kang, Shang Tsung, and the scenery were all pretty good. Basically everyone and everything else is worse than original Star Trek terrible. This isn't a surprise by any means, I was in the mood for a bad movie and got what I was looking for. The surprise was actually how good most of Kang's fights were. Robin Shou actually knows his stuff, and did a bunch of his own fight choreography, and it shows.
