Our scribes are currently working out the details but I'd like to annouce the 'Grey Mountain Guild' has plans to organize a one day TOW event set in the fabled Border Princes at Ordo. The goal is to set things up for the next few months and have the event in late June or early July. The current plan is 2 or 3 games each at 1250 points. It will not be a competitive event but a way to meet fellow players and enjoy a few friendly games in the newest edition of the game with our toy soliders! Fully painted armies will not be required but will be encouraged, we are hoping the 1250 point limit will motivate some of us to start or finish projects! We have 6-8 people interested from our regular Old World group that play at the clubhouse and would love for more people to join us! Drop a reply in the comments if you're interested and I will update with more concrete details soon.5 points

Mild breezes of about 5-10 mph, sunny and 60 degrees. I've got all but 2 chariots assembled for my first week of Escalation but the chariots result in crowded Tuskgor so I need to test my paint schemes and get started on those before I glue them onto bases or I will never reach some parts... The first round of priming is already done and drying in the basement.5 points

A group of us who have been playing Warmaster in the shadows are starting up a monthly meetup at Ordo. Every second Wednesday @ 5:30 (assuming the club is open of course). Never played before, but have a curiosity? Come watch a game, or borrow an army from us and we will have a quick learning game. Warmaster has very simple rules but has a very high skill cap for solid strategic thinking, positioning, and risk management. Come see what fighting an actual large scale battle looks like, and push your luck with attempting low probability audacious maneuvers which can flip a game on it's head. Enjoy a diverse atmosphere of opponents with the 26 different armies to choose from, yet at the same time not get bogged down in 100's of unnecessary special rules, combinations, and exploitations as you might find in another gaming system. Don't feel like you have time to start another project? Well if you can paint 10 regular models, you can paint nearly half a full scale army in Warmaster models. Don't want to buy more books? Neither do I! The rules are free and are a cleaned up version of the original Warmaster rules, so you don't have to argue with your opponent about rules interpretation (truly a novel concept). Check out the free rules compendium here: https://www.wm-revolution.com/articles/download.html See you in original old world. @scottshoemaker I challenge your demonic honor to a battle!5 points

This morning saw the printing of a couple of movement trays and I just kicked off the first print of 20 bases. My current shopping list is about 70 beastmen (covers my 2k escalation list and a couple of alternative 2k lists with different themes). I have all my STLs and just need to get to printing. I've ordered magnets and need to make a quick run to the hobby store for some magnifying equipment (this getting old stuff is for the birds, I tell ya). Then I will have some painting to do. 🙂5 points

Appreciate everyone's input, truly. With respects to all the questions, I think I can summarize: I'm retiring in one year. I will have time to deep dive into stuff and tinker. That being said, my kid (23, mind you) likes getting into things like this. No idea what he has, what the possibilities are, etc. I told him if the forum folks told me "that's amazing" then I'd move forward ha ha. But seeing as how it's iffy at best PLUS my lack of general knowledge, it's one more thing that can wait until I can do the deep dive research and THEN commit.4 points

Excellent. Honestly I’ve been looking through the local game stores in my area, The Mox and GG while also the event boards at Portland Game Store, and I have found no TOW game nights. In fact this is the first time I’ve heard of games being played. I would be interested in games and would love to see TOW becoming more active in this area. I’ll send you a message and maybe you can give me the details you have. Still getting my Orcs together but I have over a hundred of them already rebased and primed just waiting to get painted. My Gobbos… that might be a little more time. Thanks for posting and giving us this info. From all the reading and battle reports I’ve watched this looks like I’m going to have the best time with my Boyz. Happy Gaming!3 points

Hello everyone my name is Robert, a newly minted Senator of Ordo with a passion for Bringing new players into the hobby! Link to sign up is here: https://forms.gle/wgnkKifjuHcqda6Q6 I am kickstarting the Ordo Escalation league starting Thursday starting the MAR 28th. I know its short notice, this first meetup will be a "soft opening" of sorts so dont feel like you missed out if you cant make it. March and April games will be 1000 points or less. In May we will begin increasing points by 200, meaning we hit 2k points in September. We will create 2 pairings for everyone each month. Play more if you want Obviously You can play your league games outside of those Thursdays, but having a rallying day to all hang out is nice. We will be using BCC standard tournament ruleset: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1BvfV03NsBThQy4ZN0YDeWdZ2spzu58-9EDgaekZaQoY3 points

The main thing with any printer is that's not an appliance or a shop tool. Despite what anyone says, this tech is still in it's infancy. With any printer purchase the primary question to one's self needs to be: Is 3d Printing the hobby, or is the product the hobby? If one want's to learn all about the machine, the tech, the process, then a fresh new untested printer is suitable. There won't be a community for mutual support at the start, and who know about manufacturer support for both questions and replacements. Be prepared to troubleshoot and become that community. These are not bad things, part of the challenge of learning something this way can be extremely satisfying. If the goal is to use the machine as a means to create, I would avoid an untested machine and look to the established manufacturers. Elegoo, Prusa, Creality are the major players that come to mind. Lots of community support, lots of parts availability, lots of product choice. When I played paintball I bought an untested but very affordable marker, mainly to save 25%. While it was adequate, there was no aftermarket support, the manufacturer was lousy on parts replacement, and disappeared relatively quickly. When I bought my next marker, I based my choice on the amount of easily available replacement parts and support articles in the magazines. Have him ask himself what his interest in 3d Printing really is and make the choice from that perspective, rather than the "Is this a good printer" question.3 points

This is a pretty good opinion here. 3d printing is FAR from plug and play. I got LOTS of help from people getting my Ender 3 Neo v2 dialed in, now it prints amazing with 2 upgrades. That said, I wouldn't wager on a kickstarter 3d printer. Let others find the pain points. It's like buying a year 1 new car, just don't do it 😁 One additional piece about Filament fumes, PLA fumes aren't toxic. ABS or others can be if you use different filaments. Not as bad as resin, but can have issues too. PLA is your standard filament, in fact I use the PLA+ from eSun. Great stuff.3 points

I'll be there again with other regional #turnip28 players. To learn more about Turnip28, the post apocalyptic Napoleonic root vegetable game, check out the thread over in Other Games. There will be plenty of room aside from turnip weirdos, so feel free to come in to play other games.2 points

Thanks for letting me know. It's a bummer, but that's how it goes. My .02 is that game nights at the clubhouse are an inherently limited draw because it offers little more than my local game store, but it's a lot longer drive. OFCC has always been different from other tournaments. It offers a totally different play experience than other tournaments, and it's worth traveling for. I know you guys in the Senate are doing your best, but I figured I'd give my feedback. Thanks again.2 points
