  1. My wife MIGHT be getting a transfer with her work to around Portland/Vancouver are by the end of summer.. Are there any regular groups down there?
  2. Hey great, thank you for the response! Yeah I didnt think I could pass little Polish 7tp tanks off as Russian IS-2's . But that's good to hear, might have to start building toward that Polish army. How does it look on the tournament front? I'm far from a "power gamer" I just really enjoy 1 or 2 day game-a-thons for a weekend. I've been playing a lot of Bolt Action, but sadly there are just almost never any events.
  3. Hello, I have inquired awhile ago about overall Flames of War information - but figured I would re-check in. I am really interested in picking up the game, however I live in Bellingham, WA and I see most players seem to be around Portland/Vancouver, WA. I would be willing to make trips down eventually for events like tournaments though. My questions are as follows: 1) How often are there weekend events (this can include pretty much anywhere in the PNW)? 2) How often are there EW events? EW is really where my heart lies, specifically with the Polish 3) If I collected and focused on the Polish, but wanted to attend a Late War event... would it be acceptable to use my Polish infantry and MMG/mortar teams as long as I took like Russian tanks and guns? The Polish did fight for the Russians in the end, and the uniforms are similar (sort of)? Obviously I would use a Soviet army list in this case. Thanks guys!
  4. Cool that a couple of people are going! I dont think we have ever met (at least I cant put faces with the user names here). I'll try to pop in on a tuesday and introduce myself - that way I know who to root for in the 40k tournament.
  5. Hello gents, I know I haven't really been around the local scene anymore (other than picking up random hobby supplies), but I was wondering if anyone is going to the Las Vegas open in February? If so, i'd love to see some fellow Bellinghamsters down there. I just got my tickets and i'll be playing in the Bolt Action tournament. I have been active in the Bolt Action community traveling down to Everett and I know 3 guys from that group are making the trip. If anyone is ever interested in getting started in the game let me know. I'd love to teach! Its a really good/balanced rule set and very easy to learn the rules. You can get a full army with additional unit options for under 200$ - not bad for a non-skirmish level game. The order dice mechanic for when units get to activate is one of the coolest/unique mechanics I have seen in a miniature game IMO. Sorry about the gaming plug - the main post is seeing if anyone is going down for the LV Open for any tournament or even just the convention. -Tony
  6. I have a huge Polish force, and am slowly starting a blitzkrieg German force. Sadly North of Everett doesn't seem to play at all (I'm in Bellingham). However I have traveled to Mugu in Everett for a tournament and a couple of random game nights. They play every Friday night, fantastic group of gents down there.
  7. There is a really good group of guys in Everett at Mugu that play on Friday nights. I've driven up there (from Bellingham) to play a game as well as join one of their tournaments... had a blast! I really wish the game would catch up a bit more up north. It really is a fantastic rule set IMO.
  8. I have a troll and three goblins, but thats it
  9. 1.) Finish painting my Polish Bolt Action (about 75% table top ready atm, but only abuot 35% "my standard finish) 2.) Enter events at MuGu and PFC Games with above mentioned list army
  10. ha, ok thanks guys! I'm thinking of using MG teams as Heavy Bolters. Light AT guns as Lascannons, mortars as mortars. Panzerschrecks for Missle launchers and autocannons will probably have to use IG gun model with crew conversions. I plan on still weapon swapping for plasma/melta guns etc. I have a large Polish Bolt Action army that I'm hoping I can double dip a lot of models. I enjoy 40k vehicles but I'm not drawn to any infantry for any of the races. I really enjoy the bolt action infantry look though. The price is relatively comparable. Most weapon teams for Bolt Action are 11.25$ but the AT guns are 20$.
  11. I'm interested in getting back into 40k, but I'd like to substitute infantry models. What's everyone's opinion on substituting some Warlord WW2 infantry models in for some IG? The scale is the same, the only difference is vehicle size. My idea is to use Warlord infantry/gun teams and GW Vehicles. Would this be seen as a no-no, or do you think totally legit? Thanks for your input!
  12. Hey guys, I quickly whipped out two different uniform combination for some American Rifles I have. I have seen both combinations used before in the time period (these were only done to check out colors, they are a WIP and missing some highlights. Which looks more realistic/appropriate/better between the two? Green top, or tan top? Thank you.
  13. Wow thanks for the replies and resources! My only worry with the list is dealing with a late war armored company. Max I can take is the two panthers, two pak40's and up to 6 10.5cm howitzers. After that I will have to rely on gammon bombs and infantry teams. So my question is even with savvy play is this list useless vs armored companies? If I go with this army I plan on only using 1 platoon of the conscript rifles. The rest will be the Kedywa which count as trained. My howitzers, mg teams, and mortars will also be conscripted but the rest should be trained (all support units except artillery are trained). I also plan on maxing out the strelkovy unit as a sort of "what if soviets weren't D's and allowed the Polish army in USSR to cross the Vistula into Warsaw to help the uprising?" That was the initially idea behind the uprising timing but of course Stalin wanted Poland for himself so he literally had the entire army cease fire for days allowing the Germans to help squash the uprising by bringing divisions off the soviet front lines into Warsaw. Then once the uprising was failed Soviets marched in and claimed Warsaw... Bastards
