  1. Looking for a copy of Star Wars Imperial Assault Heart Of The Empire. Not really concerned about the cards but do need the map tiles and would prefer the minis unassembled as I'll probably be reposing / kitbashing them. Can meet at the ORDO clubhouse in SE or Guardian Games pretty much any day of the week. Cash or Paypal.
  2. A long time ago, in a hobby shop far, far away... I discovered the classic West End Games Star Wars The Roleplaying Game, it was the second RPG I ever played after D&D. With the buzz of the new movies, new video games, The Mandalorian, and what have you, I'm kind of itching to play the game again. From 1987 to 1998, West End Games released official Star Wars roleplaying game sourcebooks, adventure modules, setting guides, and all manner of other stuff. All of this material was approved by LucasFilm, even making its way into the the novels and comic-books that comprised the original Star Wars Expanded Universe. Timothy Zhan was famously given several giant boxes of WEG game books before he started writing Heir to the Empire, the firsrt book in the Thrawn Trilogy. The massive success of the Thrawn novels led to the great boom in Expanded Universe novels and comics. The success of those, in turn, made LucasFilm and George Himself see the potential for making the Prequel Trilogy... and here we are. Unfortunately, behind-the-scenes shenanigans -- namely massive embezzlement by upper management -- meant that West End Games went bankrupt and lost the Star Wars license... a year before The Phantom Menace hit theaters. A year later, Wizards of the Coast picked it up, and ran with their own Star Wars game using D20 system for a decade until they let it lapse in 2010. Fantasy Flight Games now holds the license and continues to produce a great game... But I like the West End Games version, specifically their very first edition from 1987 the best. West End Games' Star Wars RPG is a fun, easy-to-learn system. It plays fast, cinematic, and does a great job at emulating the tone of the films. Every character has six attributes: Strength, Dexterity , Perception, Knowledge, Mechanical, and Technical. These are rated by how many dice are in them; so your character might have a Dexterity of 3D, which means she rolls 3d6 every time he makes a Dexterity check. Skills fall under Attributes, and their dice are added to the Attribute when making skill checks. For example, if you have a Dexterity of 3D and you put one dice into Blasters, your Blasters skill starts at 4D. Roll them, add them up, try to meet or exceed the target number. Congrats, you've just learned 90% of the game mechanics. I'm thinking of running a campaign, every other Tuesday night at WOW. Set shortly after the events of A New Hope, featuring a rag-tag band of Rebels (or at least, Rebel sympathetic scoundrels) having some old school, space opera adventures. "Have blaster -- Will travel." You can find a fan-produced "Revised, Expanded, and Updated" version of the Star Wars The Roleplaying Game First Edition rules here: Star Wars Classic Adventures. Totally free.

  5. Click for intro! The first battle of the conflict took place above the world of Vagran, home to a network of valuable repair yards. A fleet led by the Rebel High Commander Jun Sato arrived in orbit of the planet, but Moff Jerjerrod had anticipated the attack and was ready with a fleet of Star Destroyers and a carefully laid minefield. Hera Syndulla and the crew of the Ghost crippled Jerjerrod's flagship with a series of successful bombing runs by her fighter wing, but the rest of the Rebel fleet was hemmed in by the minefield and crushed by the combined firepower of the Victory Star Destroyers as the ISD Relentless limped away. In the last moments of the engagement, the Rebels' lone surviving Corellian Corvette went out in a blaze of glory with a suicidal ramming attack against the Relentless, finishing off the damaged Star Destroyer before being destroyed itself in a hail of turbolaser fire from the nearby VSD Protector. While Jerjerrod focused on a defensive operation, he sent the most viscious Admiral under his command, Terrinald Screed, to make a Show of Force in the Sacorria System. As the Imperial fleet advanced on the undefended space stations orbiting the planet, a Rebel fleet led by General Crix Madine responded to the Sacorrian distress call. Despite Madine's most valiant efforts, his fleet was overwhelmed by the fast-moving ships under Screed's command. The Rebel bomber wing was crushed by the ace pilot Mauler Mithel and several squadrons of TIEs as Boba Fett started laying down bombing runs on ships and the neutral stations alike. In the end, Madine saw that his best efforts were not enough to save the Sacorrians and ordered the remains of his fleet to make the jump to hyperspace, escaping with the Mon Karren along with a lone flotilla of transports as the rest of the fleet burned. Meanwhile, the Imperial Admiral Kassius Konstatine was locked in talks with the Planetary Governor of Aurea, a world known for its skilled Diplomats, as a Rebel fleet led by General Carlist Rieekan arrived via Hyperspace to sway the world to the Rebellion. Using their superior agility, the Rebel fleet was able to outmanuever the Imperials and force Konstantine's flagship to leave the battlefield while the remaining ships carried on the assault. In the end, the Empire was forced to flee the field and cede the planet to the Rebellion. --- Overall the first turn of the campaign ended in 1-1 tie in campaign points, but a big resource advantage for the Empire. At the end of the day, the map looked like this: And for reference, these are the lists that the players went into this turn with: GALACTIC EMPIRE REBEL ALLIANCE
  6. FFG just announced a pretty rad looking new campaign set today: Article Link Would anyone be up for doing this whenever it comes out? It looks like it'll probably be late fall/early winter so still a ways out, but for those of us on board the Armada train or those on the fence, this seems like a great way to get some games in and have a cool narrative campaign along the way. It sounds like it plays 2-6 players!
  7. Dice Age Games is hosting a Star Wars Armada regional tournament on May 7th. It's a great chance to get some games in and win some exclusive prizes. The entry is only $10.

I live down in Milwaukie, but don't mind driving nearly anywhere, I play at WoW, and Guardian the most. I prefer to play in the early afternoon, either Saturday or Sunday, but am open to another time if it is more convenient for you. If anyone is interested or knows of a new player friendly weekly store games, just let me know. Thanks and see you at a gaming table soon, Kevin
