Hey we've devised a 300pt fleet, (you read it right, 300pt) system and we're running a tournment at Guardian from 12-5 on Sept 24. Basically bring one carrier or battlecruiser plus a squad or two of frigates. That should equal 300pt. Just wanted to drop in some pics from a test model I am doing for my first FSA models: Things I need to work on: Add glow to weapons so that they stand out - That's why I was a bit sloppy with the metal highlights. Straighten my white lines - The painters tape wasn't enough to prevent my lines from getting sloppy. Pretty much tried to fix it by eye which has my white lines a bit off. Add light glow to windows - Aren't many on this model but could help break up the model a bit. Figure out how I want my engine to look - Someone already pointed out that maybe I have the engine glow wrong (IE the claw like things around the main circle) but I like what I see so far. Just need to get the bottom part done so it looks finished. I intend to go back over my black highlights to make them a bit neater/thinner so that is still on the books. As stated, the weapons need something to make them stand out so I may be doing some red glow on the cannon ports. The silver Patches were my attempt to look like they had to do repairs without repainting the ship but I don't like how they turned out so I may get rid of that and use streaks/scrapes instead. I also intend to paint the base with a star field but I am not certain where I want to go with that. But essentially this will be my paint scheme for the rest of my models. I have a bunch of cruisers (heavy and regular), a squad of gunships, more frigates, a battle ship and battle cruisers to go through so my work is cut out for me for awhile. Thanks for looking.

Come join us Sat June 27 12noon to 6 at Guardian Games. We're going to setup a few tables and have semi-formal game day designed to introduce new players to the game and dust off the fleets of those who haven't been around in a while. Hoping to get 8 people. We had 8 last time. 500 point fleets. I will be on hand to answer questions and teach. Terrain will be provided. A couple 'loaner fleets' are available. Hi dudes! We are organizing a special FSA game day at Guardian Games on Feb 28th from noon to 6pm. We're trying to give noobs a chance to LEARN and veterans a chance to PLAY. Here's the deets: 1. everyone will play two games that day, with a short break between 2. pre-assigned opponents based on skill level 3. someone will be there to answer questions 4. 600pt Patrol Fleets so your games will go quickly. So you may have seen this game, finally I found some people to play it with and so I assembled some of the Spartan Games models which I think look very cool and also some Quantum Expanse models which substitute for the Terrans in some cases. I've found all the models to be easy to work with. The resin is good quality and just a little cleaning, cutting of flash and sanding is all that's necessary. The Hawker solar panels are a chore but look great so it's worth it. I'm using Army Painter White Primer as the base. No complaints. I use an airbrush to do the yellow and red lines and hex camo. You just can't freehand lines like that. I used Magic Wash but was disappointed with the results in some cases. When it dries quick it looks better, so I put it under a heat lamp. Models which got too dark from the wash get the sh-i-t drybrushed out of them, now look ok. Initially I was disappointed with the look of the dark-with-blue-hexagons stealth Destroyers but now they are warming up to me. I'm thinking of some hard black accents to make them more stealthy. A tale of two battleships. Both started primed white. The one above got a black wash. The one below got a tan paint, which I think looks great. Before the wash After 3 coats of wash, airbrushed on. Engage steath suite! Painting panels a couple shades of blue for effect, then drybrushing white looks pretty rad. Before the wash After the wash Notice how the smaller ships here are darker cause they got washed twice. They got more white drybrushing to compensate. I'll need to redo the red marks. Oh well.

Up first an APOD: NASA's Astronomy Picture of the Day: Then some terrain using the FSA terrain blister pack: I have one of these blister packs, but never knew quite what to do with it...

Hey All, Perhaps someone can clear up something for me. When a capital ship can take escorts, specifically "0-3 Zenian League Escorts" Does that have a restriction to only frigates? or can i choose large capital and medium capital ships as well? I want to take a few Ba'Kash Heavy Cruisers to accompany my Relthoza Carrier, but i'm not sure if i can do this. I've been scouring the net and the book for answers and specifics, but to no avail. Thanks for the help in advance! ~Jared
