1500 Point Sisters of Battle for OFCC Friday Event and SOB Rules Discussion

I played a 2000 point game over the weekend where I ran an outrider detachment and used dominions instead of regular battle sisters and just gave each squad 2 meltaguns and repressors. Being able to scout move and then normal move on t1 and be within melta range of my enemies tanks felt over the top powerful. I had crippled almost everything of value by the end of my second turn.

I had thought about doing this, just accepting that our basic troop was 10 points and acting accordingly. I'm glad it worked out for you.

Kudos exploiting your opponent's ignorance! Bet they won't be deploying their valuable armor on the deployment line any more ;)

Even without putting it on the line, you have:

12" + D6 Scout Move

12" Move and Shoot out the hatches

So 36" + D6 Range of your meltaguns on turn one is pretty nice.

Definitely nice. But putting the important stuff in back and a few less significant/vulnerable units in the way means you won't be pulling this trick twice. Some people never learn though...

it was the dawn of war deployment and my opponent had quite a few imperial guard weapon emplacements on his back edge. I moved forward off the line and ended 12 inches from his table edge with most of my tanks. I caught the edges of a few of his bigger pieces. Remember the repressor says measure range from any part of the hull so most things will have a very difficult time escaping that alpha strike. Honestly, the only drawback dominions have over basic sisters is you can't take a heavy flamer but on the flipside you can give your non melta sisters a storm bolter which is pretty awesome.

I dunno, to me it still sounds like a major misplay. Most imperial vehicles are less than 6" wide. He should have just stuck them sideways against his table edge and bubble-wrapped them by placing an infantry squad or two on the deployment line. That means it's impossible to get close enough for melta range (half range, that is) even if you roll a 6 for your advance scout move. Take advantage of terrain properly and you can extend the bubble further.

I would agree with that. Mainly I wanted to illustrate how powerful it is to have a scout move on all of our troops as a build option.

Yeah, if I run them, I'll probably just add 'melta silencers' to my Bolt Pistols. Easiest way and what i used to do anyways. Although Lefty is pretty amusing.

Okay, tiny changes above.

So getting it ready:

- Canoness needs a new BP hand painted.

- Squad colors (hair) across the board needs updating

- My Magnetized Inquisitor is going to be the tempestor prime so I need to paint his command rod.

- I need to paint ~10 conscripts. I have plenty of painted redemptionists, but a lot of them are weapon and pistol so I had to swap them out for ones that had lasguns/autoguns.

- Paint 8 plasma guns for my MT. The minis are good, I just had to do a bunch of weapon swaps.

- Paint ~7 HB rets. 

- Add an extra SB to one of my repressors

- Paint one combi-plasma for my doms

- Have my wife finish Celestine and the Gems (although I only need one done for this)

- A bunch of models need magnetic bases added to work with my case.

 

So not horrible and definitely doable before the Friday event.
