splinx
I have just received Prize support from Kromlech for this event and I'm glad to say we have over $100 of prizes to give out for various different players over the event. Sign up forms will be available in store at Mythic Realms in the next week or so for the event. Places initially will be limited to 20 max = 10 x 40k Players and 10 x Fantasy Players. Dependent on player signups we may be able to increase the numbers. Thanks Sam
Darthweasel
I am really torn. Doernbechers is a cause I love so much. My youngest brother was born with clubfoot and they said he would never walk. My dad was a preacher in a very small church and we had no money at all. Doernbechers, without ever charging us a nickel, did such a great job that he was able to play indoor soccer for a few years and walks just fine. They will always hold a special place in my heart and I had, have and will have nothing but good things to say about them. Unfortunately, I do not know the Warhammer 40k fluff at all. I have tried to read it and just...can't. So I have no way of knowing if I could build fluffy list. So I wonder if there is someone out there who wants to play in this but cannot afford it. I would sponsor you for it. Hit me up if interested.
splinx
Hey Darth I say fluffy as its a purely fun event with some beginners playing in the event as well. We will have non competitive events going on as well on the day including an APOC event and there will be some store armies to play on the day if you don't have any figures. Its more of a community coming together for the event and having fun rolling some dice for a great cause. (There will also be beer and cider at the event as the store has just got their alcohol license.) The sign up sheets are in the store at the moment to let me know how many people are attending and we will make it fun for all on the day! Thanks for the interest. Darthweasel
I will spin off an 1850 point list your direction, see what you think and hey...might be fun. I have played all of 3 games of 40k in 30 years so I might....be....a....slow....player....
splinx
Its totally fine! A lot of the guys are newish so there will be a few old heads to ask questions with on the day and just have fun! After last year people should vouch that its a very chilled out event with a bit of fun and no-one wins prizes for winning. Sportmanship, sense of humor and generally being a nice guy will get your more of the votes to win some prizes! :) Also pulling off whacky events in game (i.e. rolling 6 x 1's out of 7 dice) will get you prizes as well! :) It seems as though people are interested in playing a larger team based apoc game on the day as well for some fun shenanigans! :) So if you feel more inclined to bring 2500pts along for that please feel free to do so! :)
Andrewgeddon
Hope I can make it! I'm going up to Seattle on the 28th-29th for a concert, so I can't request anymore days off from work in October, but I'll cross my fingers that I get the day off!
splinx
It would be awesome if you could make it Andrew! :)
lustriangod2
Question? For fantasy are you allowing named characters?
splinx
As long as its fluffy and as fun as possible then sure! As mentioned you won't get points for competitiveness or winning its just purely good natured gaming in the name of raising money for a local children's hospital! SHoudl get a good turn out as well. I believe we only have about 5 places left on the 40k side and about 8 left on the warhammer fantasy! I will need to check later on the board! splinx
I can confirm we have about 6 spots left for 40k and about 9 for Warhammer Fantasy for the event. For those who are also interested we are also having a 40k APOC game running on the day as well so if you don't feel like gaming one on one with other people you can join a team and play a huge game of 40k! This looks like it going to be one of the biggest and best ExtraLife events locally so make sure you get yourself along and get involved in raising some money for our local hospital here in Portland! :)
Darthweasel
I will be out of town after all which saddens me. Offer still on the table to sponsor a player, someone pm me. Prefer to meet Beaverton area to give you the entry fee, but will be at Failblazer games tomorrow and Sunday so something Lloyd Centerish would work

splinx
Thank You to everyone who turned up for the event! We had a great day and raised nearly $500 for the charity! :) ($400 more than last year) Thanks again to the event sponsors and also Mythic Realm Games for the gaming space. Look forward to seeing even more people there next year. Cheers Sam
