Kingpin
So I have been working on giving my lord of skulls legs for a while now. It is hard to find ones that are the right fit. Here is what I currently have but I think they are a bit to skinny. What do you all think? Also how do I put pictures in the post so they don't show up as thumbnails?
generalripphook
They look to leggy and not enough robot/machiney But i love the gun and what you are doing.
PourSpelur
Could you "Space-Marineify" up the legs a bit? Big rounded armor would make him look like a Chaos Champion grown to ginormous size. Awesome concept and eagerly waiting for more!
Kingpin
That is the look I was going for. I want him to be a giant berserker. It is going into an all khorne army as a chaos knight. I just may have to improve my green stuff ability to bulk them up a bit.
VonVilkee
Wish I had a Lord of skulls to compare to my dreamforge leviathan crusaders... I do have a number of spare arm armor from the various kits I got during the kickstarter... I could bring them to ofcc so you could take a look! If you are interested. PourSpelur
For the lower legs you could take thin plasticard (I have some stuff that's paper thin that would be perfect) and wrap it around, ankle to knee. Take another piece, slightly shorter, and wrap it from ankle to just below knee. Another piece, getting progressively shorter, from ankle to just below piece that was just below knee...etc. Would give the Space Marine "Bell Bottoms" look. Place some rivets on each step and it would give the same visual appeal as the old knobby shoulder pads. Readily want to see the MEGA-ZERKER spilling some blood;)
JMGraham
While I think it looks TOO much like a LoS glued to the top of an action figure, I think the armour plating on the legs is actually pretty decent. Just looking at the silhouette, I think the waist looks too narrow and the upper legs look off. Maybe add a tabard? Hmmm... A tabard of chains and skulls. At most craft stores they will have jewelry chain that actually looks like chain links. That'd work great to bulk things up. Or maybe cables. Bass strings or GS cables made with the Greenstuff Industries tentacle maker would work well for cables. Just some more detail to make it look less like a Khorne Action figure and more like a gaming model. Paintjob could help there too, chipped paint, rust, tarnish can go a long way. JMGraham
A more dynamic pose could help too. Have him with one foot up on a massive pile (mountain) of skulls.
Guest
Do you intend to field it as an actual lord of skulls? If so, the treads are essential to it's rules, so adding "roller skate" treads to the feet is suggested.
WestRider
@Pax: He said it's going to be a Chaos Knight. @Kingpin: I think it needs something a bit more mechanical on the legs. Not entirely sure what I'd add to the other suggestions. However: Posting pictures without thumbnails, I can do. First, you have to host them somewhere else, like PhotoBucket, Flikr, or wherever. Then, either see if the hosting site will generate BBCode for you (I know Photobucket will, don't know about anything else), or get the url of the image itself. Then put in {img=imageurlgoeshere}, except with square brackets, or click the little icon of a tree in the second row of buttons in the posting window and paste in the url of the image.
Kingpin
Thanks for the info on posting the pics. As far as the model goes I think tomorrow I am going to try and start sculpting power armor legs for him. Use the legs in the photo add green stuff and break out my sculpting tools that I have never actually used.
WestRider
Looking at it again, I think a lot of the issue is the straps. Especially on the feet, where they make it look like it's wearing actual shoes, but even on the rest of it, they don't fit with the aesthetic of the top half of the Model. Chappy
You may be able to cannibalise a few more bits from the Lord of Skulls box to make the guy more beefy.
Guest
@Pax: He said it's going to be a Chaos Knight. I guess I missed that unit entry. Is that what we call a chaos-converted Imperial Knight?
WestRider
Yeah, it just uses the regular Knight Rules, but it's converted to fit with a Chaos Army. Have to keep it 6" away from everything else, which is obnoxious, but otherwise it works just fine.
VonVilkee
And deploy it 12" away even more obnoxious!
Guest
And deploy it 12" away even more obnoxious! I've done come the apocalypse allies before, it really isn't very hindering. For fluff, just say they the lord of skulls is especially blood thirsty to the point where even the fearless khorne infantry want to keep their distance (perhaps because they like to watch, rather than being afraid..). VonVilkee
It isn't insurmountable but it is definitely obnoxious, given that chaos should have some of these hiding some where out there in the universe.

The lord of skulls itself, really is one of the better escalation units. Better in terms of both viability and in not being so overpowered that opponents can't defeat one. You don't really need any new units to defeat the lord skulls, though it is certainly a tough opponent.
