Destiny - any PS4 players?

Curious if anyone here plays Destiny on the PS4. Looking for casual PvE and PvP players! PSN: Atules

I'm "CARLatCHRIS" (user name wasn't my choice, seems that it was attached to my email and won't change the email...)

Any, Destiny is my only game, since I recently got the PS4.

Game is not as impressive as the hype, as it's basically a cross between halo and WOW endgame content... I would describe it as a game efficently designed to be a hit, as it's content is unoriginal and short, it's graphics limited and uninspired, but they do a great job making a game that has very functional gameplay. I've not found the quest I couldn't turn in due to a bug, or that spot where you get stuck after jumping. It's very simple and perfect in that respect.

For background, I was playing PS2 (Planetside 2) until my "much-better-than-a-ps4" PC fried recently. So, maybe I've just been spoiled.

I will note that it's a horrible misnomer to suggest this is a role playing game. There is no role play. Levels do not make your a character better - their level system is more a grinding achievement system that functions as a prerequisite for certain in-game encounters. Thinking of it as a level system, or even just as being related to mass effect, fallout 3 or similar RPG, will hugely disappoint you.

Anyway, I'd love another friend on my PS4, especially one to help me on Destiny. A bit negative about the game, but I do enjoy myself while playing. Online regulars would certainly make it more enjoyable.

I'll admit, I kinda got bored. Most of the endgame level grinding seems to be PVP focused, which I don't really enjoy. And most of the game is endgame content.

Might help if I get that mic working...

I still have the game.

User name? I'll add you as a friend.

This game was intended for multiplayer PVP.  The campaign was just something to give players something to do, much like all CoD games.

Didn't exactly advertise it as such. In fact, advertising-wise, this game is a role playing game....

I agree, comparing it to CoD is much more accurate than an RPG. Thing is, if they advertised it as a CoD-like game, never would have even played it. CoD games aren't bad, I just don't enjoy them.

Anyway, added you, sammy. Love the screen name, too.

As for the coop campaign and strike missions, game can be enjoyable. It's a real pity that you can't use the matchmaking feature on every mission, instead only on strike missions. I suppose it encourages you to make friends...

It was advertised as such.  Did you watch any of the pre-release videos?  Most of the talk about the game had to do with the online multiplayer stuff. Also, nearly 90% of the pre-release game play was online multiplayer game play and not campaign play.  The campaign was only showed to show the comparison to halo.

At any rate, I am planning on getting this game at some point for the online stuff.  That, and I want to make my Bobba Fett!

Anyway, I don't mean to be overly negative. The game is decent and I do play it from time to time. Not what I thought it was, so the negative is more directed at my misunderstanding than any failings on the game.

On a side note, any clue how to actually get friends in your strike? I've invited others, but as far as I can tell, the invite just tells them to launch the game. Might be something like a level barrier (or I'm just unpopular... ).

I have found their matchmaking system very lacking. At present, I can't figure out how to add players to a strike that members have quit. Seems like the matchmaking system ditches the party after its assembled initially, so it can't add players later. This results in 3-man strikes with two members, which are considerably more difficult. Seems like their ought to be a way.

Finally figured it out. Invite to strike is a worthless button. The correct method is to join an existing strike. The problem with this that if your already in a strike (matchmaking strike or PVP games) you will be unable to be joined. On this end, basically the only way to join a buddy in the game is if the buddy is either on a team with less than a full squad or they are doing a solo adventure, like on a patrol mission or in the campaign.

The other important bit is that while playing, if you look at your current strike, there is a transparent button in the top right of the left tab. This button toggles if your strike can be joined. Set to public or friends only if you want anyone to ever join you....

PS: Thanks for that game, Sammy. There really is a difference in playing with a reoccuring group, instead of random people.

Hey Pax, keeping missing ya. Do you play on saturday during the day at all? My weekdays are pretty sketchy.

Nah, completely iffy. There was a period last night where you were listed as online, but not playing destiny. At one point, during my game with octopops, you were online, but we already had a third member. 3-man squads seems to be the max power of a PS4... It is true, this game has a surprising lack of lag or slowing down, which is common with MMOs.

Yeah, it's more fun playing with the same players. I'll play whenever I'm free online, still enjoying the game. Hoping they implement some more fixes and content soon, like player trading, better upgrades and materials economy, etc. you know, more content.

Seems doubtful that they'll add any content we actually want, but I've been known to be wrong on this sort of thing.
