Duckman
Aye, you did and it was a beautiful thing but from your description it was not clear whether or not the original was hardback or not and given that The Crescent and the Cross was right next to it I was confused by what I was seeing. Specifically, I recalled your mention of the cardstock battle boards and I thought that there was no way this thing could have contained those and any rules of any substance. Koyote
Thank you for the feedback. I will amend the first post accordingly.
InfestedKerrigan
Your comprehensive summary and compilation has finally pushed me over the edge to inquire at the FLGS about it in the local gaming community. I thank you, Koyote, but my wallet does not.

Peanut
Do people play in Portland? If so, where would I find these people? I'm super interested and would love to see how this thing is played.
jesselowe
Come to the game day at guardian on the 28th at noon to 5 and you'll be able to meet a few of us.
Peanut
I'll plan to be there! I ordered Crescent and the Cross, though I think I like the idea of Welsh or Anglo-Saxons best, so I probably ordered the wrong book.
Peanut
BTW: Are there any stores around Portland that sell Saga stuff?
jesselowe
BTW: Are there any stores around Portland that sell Saga stuff? Game Matrix in Tacoma is the closest :( Of course, if we get a strong enough player base, we can probably convince Guardian to carry some. Peanut
I'm really interested - just ordered some stuff. Probably won't be here for the 28th, but I can hang out and watch.

Gabe has enough models that he can usually spare an army for demos.

Peanut
I've got a Welsh warband mostly put together. No paint yet. Would love to get some games eventually.
Wiccus
Working on assembling my Skraelings and converting them. Have to paint my Scots first though. The Welsh are awesome btw. I am building my Scots to also be usable as Norse Gaels, irish and welsh. Tried welsh The other week and they were super fun
Peanut
Got my first couple of games in this weekend. Excellent game! The rules are really simple while the gameplay is complex. I'm looking forward to building up a couple warbands (probably Welsh and Anglo Dane).

barca
Thx to Jesse for walking me through a SAGA game on the 28th of AUG @ GG. Ordered a crusader 4-pt warband, dice and the Crescent & The Cross Rulebook Depending on shipping time from architectsofwar and my painting queue, I can bring them to battle in the PDX area late SEP/early OCT. Koyote
I was hoping for at least some new sculpts. Oh well. I may submit an entry for this contest. Designing a SAGA scenario sounds like fun.
jesselowe
Bumping this topic, as we've had some new and interested players popping by the monthly historical wargames day at Guardian.
Tomistokles
I had a great time getting my first exposure to SAGA at Guardian Games last Saturday. The guys of the Historical Gaming group putting on some demo games were friendly and very willing to talk about the system and explain how the Battle Boards, dice, etc. worked. I plan to be at the next game day there in April, and I hope to play my first game then. I've also started to put together a 4 point Norman force! Koyote
SAGA: The Age of the Wolf is the forthcoming SAGA Dark Ages Campaign book. It contains an awesome new campaign system for two or more players in which rival Warlords lead their Warbands in a bloody struggle for land, wealth and reputation. There are many ways to come out on top in the campaign and claim the crown. How you do it will be up to you and the motivations of your Warlord- unless, of course, your opponents have other ideas........ The Age of the Wolf will be released in May but you will be able to pick up advance copies at SALUTE only from the Gripping Beast mega stand TK13. jesselowe
Glad to hear it. Our Portland group is skipping this month so we can go to Enfilade, but next month we should see some more action.
