I think Joe will forgive me for answering these queries...

Captains can freely purchase their equipment (any of the basic weapons available to Soldiers, including bows etc.), and can re-arm during a campaign. In addition to that and the aforementioned Tricks of the Trade, Captains also have a few more little features that can make them a terror in a fight...

Out in time for the release of Into the Breeding Pits in July, this boxed set will, like the Cultists, allow you to either build a horde of slavering beasts to oppose your warbands, or to construct a savage warband, well suited for allying with a more bestial wizard (on which, more later...).

In this supplement for Frostgrave, players lead their warbands into the northern reaches of the city, exploring the ruined temples of the Frozen City to search for the lost secrets of evocation – the art of summoning demons. While the lure of such knowledge is great, few wizards have ventured into this region as it is overrun by barbaric northern tribesmen who have descended from the hills in their own search for treasure. Marking themselves with demonic sigils, many of these barbarians have aligned with ancient powers discovered amongst the temples. Along with a host of new scenarios focusing on the exploration of the temples, the book also contains new treasures, spells, soldiers, and creatures that can be found amongst the ruins.

With this new supplement for Frostgrave, players can lead their warbands into the vast network of catacombs, sewers, and dungeons that run underneath the Frozen City. It was in these dark confines that the ancient wizards known as Beastcrafters experimented on living creatures, creating strange hybrids and deadly monsters, many of which still roam the forgotten passageways. Along with a host of new scenarios, treasures, soldiers, and creatures, the book also contains rules for the traps and secret passages that are often found in the dungeons. With the wonderful and rare magical treasures to be discovered, will players risk taking their warbands down into the Breeding Pits?

Hi Koyote, are you planning on buying these supplements directly from North Star in the UK, or is there a distributor in the US? With the conversion from English Pounds to US dollars, and then adding shipping cost of 25% to cross the pond, items from North Star are approximately 70% increase from list price. Ouch. I guess many are used to that price increase with "other games" from the UK.

Thankyou, Jim

The online retailer FRP Games, which ships from California, stocks Frostgrave books and minis. You can find more online US retailers through Amazon.

The first two books were originally released as part of a 'Nickstarter' package which included free minis and sprues. I expect that the next two books will get the same treatment, so I will likely order from

Northstar. The free goodies offsets the cost of UK shipping.

Being able to load up on demon in a bottle potions is pretty powerful, but then again there are some other very useful potions that one might consider as well, such as invisibility, teleport, and invulnerability. If your caster doesn't have these spells in his repertoire, then these potions become even more valuable to you.

Nice mats. I was looking at ordering models from Northstar, but seeing they don't deduct the 20% VAT from the list price for the US, I refuse too. Another crooked UK vendor. I am looking else where for my miniatures.

There are quite a few US online retailers (e.g. FRP, Warstore, Noble Knight Games, Amazin, etc.), that carry Frostgrave products. You should also keep in mind that Frostgrave is designed to be played using whatever minis players want to use. As such, you are not bound by the game's rules or convention to use Frostgrave models.

Below is an excerpt from a July 2015 interview with Joseph McCullough, Frostgrave's creator (emphasis added).

Are there 'non-humans' in Frostgrave? If so, what do they do, are they outlaws? Are there 'armies' of them around the area?

If by ‘non-humans’ you mean orcs, elves, and dwarves, the answer is no. I wanted people to feel free to use whatever miniatures they wanted to represent their warbands, and I believe the best way to do this was by not creating specific racial characteristics. All of the troop types in the game are suitably generic that they can easily be represented by an elf, dwarf or a mousling, without creating the imbalance that often results from specific racial traits.
