New Gaming Rig

Recommended Posts

So I'm breaking down and building another box after swearing it off for ten years.

I should have all my major components by next week and will start assembly.

I was curious if anyone who has recent knowledge could be bribed to help me with stuff like thermostat, benchmarking et cetera.

I can compensate with spare computer parts or miniatures or beer or cash or inappropriate favors or whatever.

In the meantime if you want to give me feedback I still need a solution for wireless control and a recommendation for a case fan.

Oh, I'm in vacouver washington for those that don't know.

Thanks!

EVGA has a utility on steam that can control the video card for over clocking & fans/temps/etc called precision x.

Not sure about a fan but I went with this for under $100 & it's been the best case I've ever had. https://m.newegg.com/Product/index?itemnumber=N82E16811517032

By wireless control do you mean you need a new router or a wireless card? A usb one would probly work & be fairly inexpensive.

I'm actually wondering about a wireless controller. I'm hoping that 360 or ps3 controllers can be utilized since I already have those.

If you want to use a xbox360 controller wirelessly, all you need is this:

https://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Xbox-Wireless-Receiver-Windows/dp/B000HZFCT2

Note: if you get an xb1 controller, you would need a different one that only works with XB1 controllers. With an XB1 controller, you can just plug it in with a microUSB cable.

I do have a steam controller I got from Rhuntar. I like it for some things and it works great with my steam link I have connected to the TV, but it is definitely not for everyone. Oh, and it is wireless obviously.

I recently put a box together using this sites guidelines for the 500-600 price range.

I went this route as its been years since I followed all the latest hotness in components but so far the machine is running like a top!.It was for my oldest boy for getting a 4.0 in his final grade period of his sophmore year, now his machine is better than mine, heh.

I will likely be doing at least one more build from this site before the years out:)

Cool. I found a guy in NYC who seems to be partnered up with producers of higher end machines and business suppliers. He's able to make machines and sell packages for 150-750 that fit efficiently into a variety of common household roles. I got pretty much every  component I would have bought off of newegg from him and saved about 35%.
