Blood Bowl Leaks

New Piling On is pretty terrible. Using a team reroll basically kills the skill especially as it no longer can be combined with anything. I guess it'd be fine as a 10k add on to a player, but I don't think I'd ever take it otherwise.

Supposedly that version of the PO rule was playtested and rejected, but made it into the Deathzone book by mistake, according to the game designers. It's going to be errata-ed on Friday back as it appears in the CRP, except it will be an "optional" rule for leagues.

Via Andy Hoare on Facebook, "Specialist Brands Product Manager at Games Workshop:

Hi all

I just wanted to address the issue of rules changes in Death Zone Season 1, so we can let you guys know what happened, what’s happening, and then crack on with enjoying Blood Bowl (although Jonathan Taylor-Yorkeinsists the game is not supposed to be fun and that I’m doing it all wrong!).

Back when we began the Blood Bowl 2016 project at the start of the year we received numerous messages from players, almost all of them asking us to consider changes to Claw, Piling On and Mighty Blow. Though we were reticent to make any changes to the CRP we thought it sensible to try some alternatives, which our playtest group trialed for several months. At the end of that period however, and in consultation with our contacts in the community, we reached the conclusion these rules shouldn’t be changed, and instead addressed it by making Piling On an optional rule.

However, it’s transpired that the dreaded Version Control Goblins have been at our files and the playtest versions of several skill descriptions have got out into the wild and made it into print.

So what do we do? Well, the first thing was not to make any knee-jerk reactions, but to listen to what you guys were actually saying about the rules as published. There’s been a lot of perfectly justifiable objection, but in amongst it all has been some very interesting and useful feedback, for which we sincerely thank those that gave it. Having given the matter a lot of thought and having spoken to some very experienced Blood Bowl players, we’ve decided that the best thing to do is errata the skills in question so they reflect what we meant them to say all along. This does mean that a couple of skills will be wrong in the first print run of the book and so we’ll release an errata download when the game is released and ensure that future iterations use the correct wording.

Hopefully now we can all enjoy some competitive violence, and I hope to see some of you guys at Warhammer World this weekend!

All the best

Also another errata and FAQ document (pdf warning!!):  https://19070-presscdn-0-68-pagely.netdna-ssl.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/BB-FAQ-webready.pdf

The number of different book and documents you need to have the full rule set for this new version of the game is ridiculous.  GW is lucky this is such an amazing game because this release has been a complete cluster****.  I'm kind of hoping they go back to ignoring the game for another decade.

Elven Union are the next team coming (looks great, no warhammer soliderness in sight, though they aren't based off a Warhammer army like the other Elven teams)

Apparently BB3 is in the works for release next year. Strangely the article references that an a rerelease of the boardgame with updated rules is also in the works. Not sure if PC Gamer source may just be confusing a supplement like deathzone or if they intend to make a new box set. ?

Ny hope was a translation error, but then more I see the more I think there will be new TT rules next year.

"One of the guys from Quebec here translated it to this:

«The year chosen is not a coicidence, since BB3 will accompany the release of the newest paper edition in stores. New edition will bring a compelte revision of the ruleset.»"

That makes me happy.  I dont mind change necessarily but I haven't seena anything that makes me think GW has even the faintest clue when it comes to this game.

No argument there. The one devil’s advocate thing I’ll add is they did a great job changing and improving Necromunda. The difference is that old Necromunda was a little lean, in terms of game play. Blood Bowl isn’t...it's near perfect.
