Game one from Fate and Fury: Capture and Protect

First game was against Joe who was rolling with his JSA for the event.  I went with the Van Zant list from the previous page of this thread, this is his list as best as I can remember:

I don't remember who deployed first but I know that I got first turn.  In turn one I managed to land my infiltrating grunt right near a building that his link team was hunkered down in.  Before going after them I attempted to discover his ninja, but failed.  Deciding not to waste orders on intuitive attacks, and backed up and went after the link.  One flamer, two boarding shotguns and 2 combis later I had taking out a Keitsotsu ad the CoC Kempei at the cost of my grunt.  One of my foxtrots activated my beacon and went back into camo.  For Joe's first turn he put marksman onto the Rui Shi and used Saito to throw down some smoke.  Luckily for me he failed to discover my foxtrot, and then didn't get any wounds on my grunt that he fired at.   Turn two I dropped Van Zant in and took down Saito and the EVO hacker.  He grabbed the objective but was in a tough position.  Joe moved back with the Rui Shi in his turn and put down Van Zant, but with only 4 orders it was all he was able to do that turn.   My foxtrot in the midfield pushed up behind the Rui Shi and knocked it unconscious, allowing me to grab the objective and secure the HVT before the end of my turn.  How was in retreat at the beginning of his turn, so we ended and the win went to USAriadna 9-0.

Game Two: Seize the Antennas

For round two I was up against Eric's Hassassin list, I chose to go with Van Zant a second time.  Eric's list:

I got first turn again, and lucked out with my infiltrating grunt landing just on the other side of a cart from his link team that was turtled on top of a high building.  First order the grunt shotgunned into the link, killing the doctor and making other unconscious.  He got jammered, but would continue to be the bane of Eric's existence throughout the game.  With the grunt dead I decided to bring Van Zant on early to try and knock more orders off of Eric.  I knocked out the Barid but could not progress further, so I kept him safe, grabbed the antenna closest to me, and the turn went over to Eric.   The Mutt made an attempt at my grunt and ended up being killed, while the Grunt made armor and lived on.  Eric made one mistake that cost him dearly, activating his link in an attempt to knock my foxtrot who was up near the center antenna.  He succeeded in killing the foxtrot, but I got to lay a flamer down on the killer hacker, taking her out of the game and bringing the link further down.  In my second turn I went back with Van Zant and knocked out his minelayer, while the grunt used his one order to keep up the assault on the ghulams.   The rest of the details are hazy, but we shuffled a bit, the killing continued, and I moved around the back field to claim the far antenna after killing off every one of Eric's models.  Big win goes to USAriadna again, with the help of amazing armor saves and a very deadly grunt.

Game Three: Antenna Field

Third game was against Dave and his ISS, I took my list with the 3 bikes and three foxtrots so I would have plenty of specialists.  Dave's list as I remember:

I got second turn this time around and set up mostly hidden with my grunt sniper sticking out for board control.   Dave got bad luck in the first turn, setting up to shoot my sniper through smoke but still losing the face to face and thus losing his sniper in the first turn.  With the board under watch of my sniper, he carefully moved specialist up and claimed a objectives with the Sophotect, Kanren, and Celestial FO.   In my turn I unleashed the desperadoes.  The first one had bad luck and took a hit from the Soph, going unconscious.  The other went on a killing streak of sorts, dropping the Kanren and then chain rifling the Kuang Shi, dropping all three of them before dying to other ARO's.   I managed to drop the LT as well, then got into contact with two objectives tying us for the turn.  Dave started turn two with 3 orders and LOL.  He brought up the kanren with a yudbot, but that was about it.   In my turn I tried hard to dislodge his Kanren and Soph, but was unable to get either totally down.  We tied again, as the Kanren was no long on the center objective.  In his third turn Dave was up to 4 orders and kept the pressure up on me.  The kanren made it back to the center antenna, and he held his position from there.  In my turn I got rid of the kanren and added the middle antenna to my side by moving the Maverick up into contact.  I got the HVT secured as well and the game came to an end 7-2 for USA.   Special shoutout to Dave, who kept me on my toes the whole time even with only 7 orders available between his last two turns!

This was a fantastic event with a lot of good people, and I had a blast with all of my opponents.  Both my lists behaved well and for whatever reason my dice were on fire.   I look forward to more events like this, and give big thanks to all the guys at Fate and Fury!

Alright!  I took the day off and I'm getting a running start on the OFCC display board for Eric, Justin, and myself.

This is the basic concept, poorly drawn by a poor artist.
51235306148__294A7DB7-272E-4EEE-A199-1251CCBF0EEE.thumb.jpg.ad77afb4539e7c64517b02823388659a.jpg

The basic plan is to have different levels for each army.  The lower level will be for Justin's Haqq, living it up down below.  The ground level will be for my Ariadna, and the raised platform will be fore Eric's Haqq.  The idea is that each army will have it's own space to be shown off, but there will be coherency between the three within the setting.

Getting the base level of foam cut and glued downIMG_0713.thumb.jpg.898307d00271fa277d7c7a7e01a830b2.jpg

Cutting a path for the pipe and sewer drain:
IMG_0716.thumb.jpg.7d33292f9db0e450de9292ae126040ee.jpg

Putting on the rest of the foam, and creating a half-pipe in the exposed half of the board using the rest of the pipe to shape foil over plaster:
IMG_0718.thumb.jpg.c39e2a7617d1a204b748860d91fe6c50.jpg

Plastering the whole thing to close gaps, texture, and make it safe for primer:
IMG_0721.thumb.jpg.2cde2f6d2140846ed042e1aa468e3a2c.jpgIMG_0720.thumb.jpg.26e3ad09b3650f0c6d9440b5670eb45a.jpg

That's all for now as there is a butt-load of plaster that needs to dry before it will be safe to work on any further.   The rough ground will work fine for the ground level, but the lower level will get a layer of card stock over the foil.  The platform is something that I'm gathering materials for, so the final design isn't decided yet.  The main goal is that it has at least 48 square inches of space for models and some drop pieces.   Any who, so far everything is going well, and I am looking forward to progressing further on the project!

Everything on the board seems to be drying just fine without any cracking or morphing of the foam (yessss!).   It will still be a few more days before I do anything else to it just so it has plenty of time to cure before I start laying primer over the plaster.  After that I need to plan out how to create and support the upper level and the floor and bridges of the lower level.  I am seeing another trip to the hardware store in my future.

I'm thinking of lists to bring to the Glimpses event in Sherwood this weekend.   I'll probably bring my OFCC list as one of them, as it's already 200 points LI and gives me a chance to test it out.  The Spec ops can get 8 more points of gear though, so I will have to pimp them out to no end!

Quick review of last week's game against Pete's Aleph.

I brought my all ARO pano list with 2 father knight MLs and 2 TO snipers.  Pete won wip, made me deploy, and I opted to go second to see how the team would hold up.  Well, that was a mistake.  The whole board was a low vis zone, so between his own TO troops and plenty of msv2+ Pete had a field day taking out my father knights.  I spent most of the game using my remaining guys to try and make up ground, and to make it as hard as possible for Pete to advance.  We held strong, but didn't have the orders or the punch to hold up.   Big win for Pete, Pano cries in the corner.

Biggest mistake here is that I should have gone first.  If I had I could have tried to take out his msv troopers early on and given myself a little boost.  My eagerness to ARO was a bust, but I would still play the list in the future just for lulz.

The 20x20 scenarios involved downloading data packs from the center line of the board, and using your LT to plant a flag in the opponents half of the board.

Jay picked deployment so I opted to go first.  I had the usual set-up with camo AROs looking over the board, cheerleaders hidden, and 2 failed burnt infiltrations.   After that the details are a bit hazy.  I moved up and grabbed a few objectives, Jay pushed back on me, I killed a ninja and some monks, Jay made my dudes cry with a couple HI that would just not go down.  At the end I pulled out the win with more data packs, but we both had planted flags in the opponent's DZ.  A win for Ariadna!

This week I'm working on finishing my second antipode, the Scots Guard ML, and Uncle Vernon.  So far they all have paint on them, hopefully I will have time to get more done this week.

It's been so long since I infinity'd!

Really looking forward to this week after being absent for Easter then up in Seattle last weekend.  Haven't had any games in between either so I'm starting to get the itch.   I really wanted to get in some painting last week but life kept stepping on my toes, and it looks like this week might do the same (waiting for the plumber as I type this).  Hopefully things will open up and I can get a little bit done.

Heyo!   Jay's League came to an end this Sunday with a full-house of Infinity players and games.   We played a set from 20v20 where you must get troops to a drop ship, repair it, and take off for points.  The secondary was to kill LTs.

I went up against Joel's USAriadna for what turned into a bloody fight on both sides.  Just some highlights:

-In my first turn I repaired the ship, only to have Scarface completely destroy it and take it out of play in Joel's turn.
-In retaliation, I used a Chasseur to glue scarface down and killed Cordelia so that he would stay that way.
-After that we blew each other apart until the end of the game, his Unknown Ranger picking off many of my guys with excellent ARO skills.
-In my last few orders I managed to take out his LT, giving me the win.

Jay ran an awesome league, and it was a lot of fun getting to test out the 20v20 system!   Big thanks to Jay!

In other news I got started up on the display board again.  It was nice and sunny so I sanded down the plaster, cleaned off the dust and residue then gave it a couple layers of clear coat to seal it up.   Next step will be texturing the ground level, assembling the 3rd level, and then putting detail pieces onto the base before priming the entire base.

Main takeaway from last night's game is that the scot's guard ML is a menace if he can get into assault pistol range.  Late in the game he cleared an entire flank for me before shooting off the board in an escape pod.

Car is getting worked on today and tomorrow so I'm putting a few coats of paint onto Uncle Vernon's antipode.  I'd like to get more done, but it's hot and I'm too busy cursing at the sun.

1 hour ago, Jay said:

I like what you did with the dirty boots but his pets feet are so clean.

I have the same concern.  The problem is I'm worried that I'll hate the look of the dog's feet with mud, and it will take a lot of effort to paint them back to matching if I mess them up.  For now they will be mudless, but maybe in the future I'll find some way to do it to my liking.

Edited for stupid-as-hell typos.
