fingolfen
Guess I better try and get my NVA painted then, eh? Should have the model room up and running in a week or two... :D
generalripphook
What exactly is Team Yankee?
Justjokin
That game I keep buying models for, and captures a particular part of my imagination that is thankful that what could have been but didn't happen. Cold war gone hot! 1985's tanks are calling and they want to slug it out at the border of East/West Germany! Oh and infantry, attack helicopters, and strike aircraft. How about WarGame:AirLand Battle, without the PC? The 2 games that have my attention going forward are Infinity and Team Yankee. I've never been interested in FOW, but a little more modern seems to get my attention. barca
Plays faster than FoW, . the models are superb, . and because it could have happened in so many different ways, the scenarios and campaigns are wide open. Oh, and the rulebook is much thinner.
barca
No whining about preparing for Dogs-Of-War. http://www.ordofanaticus.com/index.php?/topic/29699-dogs-of-war-2017-fow-early-war-tournament-mar-25-official-thread/ Yes, I know that the TY Campaign is close to the EW tournament. But some of the slugs have been resting in December and January. If that is you, dust off your kit, get painting and list-making, get moving smartly - "Panzers Marsch!!!" I will be making reservations at GG for at least 2 practice sessions in March before the tournament, prob on SAT and/or SUN. On THU at GG, or TUE at OCGG, We could do a TY battle AND an EW practice battle, if enough people show up and plan ahead.
Nick!
So, I am modestly interested in this. Are there more Pact or NATO players in the Portland area?
barca
Probably six or more, plus myself makes 7. Each row is one player that I know of and have seen some of their assembled/painted models: NATO: US - One with fairly complete Armored Combat Team NATO: US - Small US mech that could pair with my US force to make 100 pts NATO: W Ger - Small force, prob 70 points and growing NATO: British - At least a platoon of tanks, maybe more now. WP: Soviet - At least a company of tanks, maybe more now. WP: E Ger - Small force, prob 25 points and growing Some of the NATO players might also have or are building WP lists. Both of the WP players might also have or are building a second list, most likely NATO. Of the six above, 2 have played 3 or more games, and 2 others have played at least one game. For the campaign, I would also count at least 3 gamers in Washington who have NATO: US WP: Soviet WP: E Ger They have joined us remotely before and I expect them to do so again. barca
Btw, I have a close connection to the setting. I was stationed in the FRG (W. Germany) 1985-1989, in V (US) corps. I know a lot about this stuff. And I wargamed it a LOT for both training and for fun.
