Recommended Posts

OFCC Friday Night Kill Team is confirmed!

OFCC 2017's 40K Kill Team is a 3 round friendly event. Each round is 45 minutes. Players will attempt to accumulate Mission Objective Points as detailed on each on each Mission Briefing.  The player that has the highest Mission Objective Total at the end of 3 rounds will be declared Best Team Leader!

We will also have an award for Player's Choice: Army Appearance for the most kick-a$$ looking team as chosen by your peers.

All you have to do create your Kill Team according to the following guidelines:

Players can spend up to 200 points on their Kill Team, chosen from a single codex or codex supplement, and adhering to the Kill Team Detachment, shown below:

After choosing your Kill Team, you must determine which non-vehicle model will be the Leader.  Use the list below to make the determination:
  • Character Model with Highest Leadership, if none;
  • Model with highest Leadership;
  • Not of Beast or Swarm unit type
Up to 3 Non-Vehicle models can be selected as Specialists. You may not select your Leader, or units with the Beast or Swarm type. No two Specialists may select the same ability. For this event use the following Specialist Ability list: (Note: This is a change from the normal Kill Team Specialists rules in order to be more inclusive to those that may not have the ruleset, and to speed game play)
  • Combat Specialist +1 WS
  • Weapon Specialist +1 BS
  • Dirty Fighter +1 Initiative
  • Indomitable Specialist FnP 5+
  • Guerilla Specialist +1 Cover Save
Kill Team uses the core Warhammer 40,000 rules, with the following exceptions summarized below:
  • Mission are played on 4'x4' battlefield
  • Each Model is treated as a separate unit.  Models may not join to form units.
  • Transport vehicles may carry multiple “units”
  • Psykers may not use Conjuration powers
  • Reserves rule is not used, unless as a result of Outflank
  • Deep Strike is not used
  • All models are scoring, unless the specifically stated in their rules
  • Brotherhood of Psykers/Sorcerers rule is not used
Codex Exceptions
  • Codex Chaos Daemon: Warp Strom and Instability are not used.  Daemons have Fearless
  • Codex Chaos Space Marines: Champion of Chaos Special rule is not used
  • Codex Cult Mechanicus: Canticles of the Omnissiah is not used
  • Codex Khorne Daemonkin : Bllod for the Blood Gon! Is not used
  • Codex Orks: Mob Rule is not used
  • Codex Skitarii: Doctrina Imperatives is not used

Other details, such as Break Tests and Missions will be included in the Event Packet.  The above rules were included here to aid in list building.

Schedule and times will be posted as they become available.

This looks fun! I've never really played Kill Team before though, so a quick question or two on list building:

Given the Kill Team detachment above, do we have to take minimum unit sizes for those FOC choices? For example, if I am playing KDK and want to bring a CSM squad, am I required to bring the minimum squad size of eight models and just have them all operate separately? Or could I just use one Troops choice on a CSM squad and only take four models from that unit so I then have more points left to use on, say, models from my Elites and Fast Attack choices?

Also, if I am not required to take the minimum squad size, am I still allowed to have one model with a special weapon or whatnot in the unit (who will then operate separately)?

Thanks!

Minimum squad sizes apply.

Hey, thanks for running this it looks great.

Question about possibly playing a Genestealer Cult list in this event: would the Return To Shadows rule be playable? Also, if a unit has the Infiltrate special rule (and thus Outflank) would they utilize the Cult Ambush table for their deployment?

I had made a decision...

The Friday Night Kill team event will be using the 8th Edition rules, although we will still use the 7th ed Leadership stat for Morale, .  Still build your force using Matched Play points using the newest rules for your force.  As far as rules tweaks, there will be none at this time and we will address them as they come up during play.

This is a non-competitive event, and a such we can make allowances.
