Look I dont mean to be a downer on your opinion of the tank but you gota look at its efficiency in relation to its points and the other options. Is it cheap at 80 points? Yea. Is it cheaper than a tac squad with similar weapons? Yea. But what are you actually getting? Your getting a single shot platform that literally costs 80 points for its, albeit reliable, single shot. Compare to the tac squad, in which marine bodies are already overcosted. For the same cost you get a las cannon and 5-9 bolter shots. So not only do you have the Las cannon that cannon that can fire at something, but the bolters that can fire at another, more appropriate target. So already it beats the hunter on shots per point and flexibility against multiple targets. And they are troops. Which is super useful in an army that lacks bodies. It also doesn't even do the job of filling out a heavy slot for detachments very well. You have cheaper or more efficient options. So when looking at this tank it's not how cheap it is. It's how good everything else is at doing its job better or the same, but able to do other things as well. You ideally dont want a unit that does one job in a marine army unless it does that job very well.

And neither one really does anything. At least the marines are troop choices.

Would you pay 80 points for a Las cannon? Cause that's what it is basically. For 165 you get 4 las cannons out of a dev squad. All rhino chassis are overpriced for what they do.

Demons also have a strat for +1 invuln...

The internet is right from time to time.
  7. If that's the case then thats great. I've been playing it as you have to have them wholly within 6". I coulda sworn I read it was wholly within in the faq.

Because on a single knight you take the relic that gives them a 4++, with rotate in shields its 3++. If your taking a 600+ point knight you definitely want to keep it alive. You can also give two knights a 4++ and a third, 2+. But yea, assuming a knight will only have 3+/5++ is pretty optimistic.

Well most single knights will be at a 3++ or at least 4++. And if you dont kill them outright they can still operate at full wounds if need be via a strat or, if hawkshroud, double the wounds they have left.
  10. And they already have nerfed grot shields. You have to be wholly within 6" now.

Is this all through a 3+ invulnerable?
  12. Honestly I'd dump the death company, you have a ton of other really good melee. With the new bolter rule, intercessors are pretty solid. So with that extra 500 ish points you can add another smash captain, 3 squads of intercessors and another hq. Which will net you 5 more cp from another battalion. Which allows you to fully run your smash captains and have more objects grabbers.
  13. You worry far to much about things that most likely will never happen.
  14. Huh... pretty neat. Usually I 'Ardcoat the area, use water to move the decal where I want it, Micro Sol, let it dry, 'Ardcoat again and the matte seal. It makes the decal lines disappear.
  15. Ohhhh I have Sol! Only way to get decals on a curved surface. Micro Set I dont know about.
  16. Tried them. Didnt work out to well. Probably user error though. But I do see the potential of them for sure!
  17. Or I can just leave it be? I mean I cannot fathom a time someone would get confused as to the loadout. "What are you playing today?" "Three Gallants" "That one has two chainswords" "Yea I know. It's a conversion. It looks cool. Would you like to look at a rulebook to refresh yourself on the Gallant rules?" In a tournament, I just say it's a Gallant and I'm 95% they know the rules. In casual, I just say it's a Gallant and I can show them the rules.
  18. Well I did paint them two different colors so if it comes up Green Sword is "Smash" and Purple is "Sweep". But since weapons cant be removed and my list says three Gallants I dont think there should much confusion. That and my handwriting is terrible. So I cant imagine my hand-paint-writing is going to be any better. Also I'm pretty sure I've never actually used the gantlet. Leg kicks 75% of the time and chainsword the other times.
  19. Heck yea! Third gallant. I do like the dual swords for a conversion. It's not that green in reality though... Also he has some vulture friends that are next on the table for paint.

Pretty sure only tournament (NOVA) actually cares that you have the actual fw model and not a conversion. I would think no player in a casual game would care either if you put any effort into the conversion.
  21. This. 3 flyer bases block a huge amount of space to non flyers. You can block of a good 1/3 of the table.
  22. I mean... they are kinda disposable. They only need to clear some screens, maybe do some screening themselves, then die in a fiery explosion.
  23. That makes me sad... Still have that sweet bs 3+ if you hover though. I guess that means they just go back to being catachans. For no reason really I guess.
  24. Umm... Tallarn Vultures, so no negatives for moving and firing heavy weapons, +1 to hit for staffing run. 43 shots, 28 hits, 18 wounds, 15 dead orks, 12 with KFF. So about 30-45 dead orks a turn. Orks are the main reason I'm taking vultures. That and they are awesome!
