  1. These were my contributions to the thread (and a movie poster, because why not?)
  2. From the ‘Everything BattleTech’ Facebook group: Album covers featuring BattleTech art.
  3. There’s always the origins Tauros from FW, although that might be “Legends” now. You could probably also use it as a “counts as” Sentinel.
  4. Unfortunately, I’m going to have to cancel this week. Feel free to count it as a win or however else it is we’re handling cancellations.
  5. The fact that Michigan hasn’t taken Wisconsin from Wisconsin is how you know we don’t want that hellhole. Have you seen what they do to pasties over there!? Barbarians. We got da Yoop after we “lost” the Toledo War. Because we were playing tri-d chess and the rest of the world was playing checkers.
  6. Slege mec, cild. Æne cirr.
  7. Unless you’d prefer to surrender now.
  8. Either Tuesday or Thursday works for me.
  9. Sell a kidney on the black market. (It doesn’t have to be yours.)
  10. After a bloody and brutal, but ultimately indecisive, brawl with @Painglove's kooky cannibals, I've updated Lord Helmwar's finest team of after-schola anti-cult educators. Remember, kids, only you can prevent heresy! If you see something, smite something. https://yaktribe.games/underhive/gang/d.a.r.e._to_keep_kids_off_cults.440450/
  11. Saga: Age of Selfies #Lindisfarne793 #boysnightout
  12. Just getting started with the Necromunda league… But I’ll definitely try to figure something out.
  13. One point buys you four Hearthguard, eight Warriors, or twelve Levy models. You then take the total number of models you have and organize them into units. This is all explained on page 44-46 of the core rulebook. Let’s say you spent three points on Hearthguard (12 men), two points on Warriors (16 men), and one point on Levies (12 men). You could chose to split the Hearthguard up into two even units of six, field the Warriors in a unit of ten and a unit of six, and leave the Levies as one big blob. Some factions will have minor exceptions to the rules, for example Vikings have a special type of Hearthguard called Berserkers who can only ever be taken as a unit of four. These exceptions to the general rule will be in the appropriate Book of ____ faction section.
  14. This coming Thursday (11/03) doesn’t work for me, I don’t think. But I would love to get another game if Oathmark under my belt.
  15. My only current army for Saga, sadly, is a pile of unpainted pewter in a box somewhere in my closet.
  16. Seems like a good foundation. I mean, as good as any faction can be that suffers from the extreme flaw of not being the Anglo-Saxons.
  17. I’m not the best painter in the world, but basically any paints intended for use on miniatures will work just fine. I’m partial to GW’s Citadel Paints just because they’re so readily available.
  18. Using examples from Gripping Beast’s online catalog for The Last Romans, here’s the Levies: And here’s the Warriors: Aside from the difference in weapons (javelins versus spears) the Warriors also all have chain hauberks layered over padded gambesons, as well as helmets and larger shields. The paint job also makes them look more uniform and professional. The Levies look more like common folk and less like professionals.
  19. Saga is a "miniatures agnostic" game, you can find miniatures from Gripping Beast that are carrying the Saga game branding on the package and a lot of other historical miniatures manufacturers will have bundles created with Saga in mind and marketed with the game's name... But it's not like Warhammer 40,000 or Infinity, you can use whatever miniatures you want from whatever company you want to buy them from. You definitely want to be able to tell your units apart from one another, it's just good sportsmanship and it makes playing the game a lot easier. The most common way to differentiate the various unit types in Age of Vikings is usually armor: Levies running around with no armor except maybe a helment or a gambeson, Warriors in chain, and Hearthguard in chain and maybe a bit more bling. Fancier helmets, fancier shields, maybe cloaks. That sort of thing. You can really do it however you want. You just want to be sure that you and your opponent can tell from arm's length "Yup, this guy is an elite professional and that guy is just cannon fodder."
  20. The main difference between Hearthguard, Warriors, and Levies is which special abilities from the “Battle Board” can be used on them and their stats in combat. Different factions will also have different ways to equip the different types of troop. Some factions even completely lack some of these troop types. “The Last Romans” for example have three options for Hearthguard (cavalry, cavalry-archers, or heavy infantry) and two options for Warriors (archers or mêlée). Whereas Vikings only have mêlée-equipped Warriors. Yes, “The Last Romans” in AoV is the name given to the Byzantines. Not sure why they get a poetic title instead of a more generic name…
