scottshoemaker
So all the painting is complete. I went with gold for the eyes rather than green, I think the green clashes in this case, and "Golden Eyes" are typical descriptions for griffons in fantasy settings so it fit. I did some chipping on the feet/lower legs but no more distressing. Less is more in this case. I'll get them all matte varnished then assemble them. I can start on the bases too. 4
scottshoemaker
After fighting with getting a matte finish I was happy with I varnished the parts and got assembly done: Now onto bases and that libby 5

scottshoemaker
I wanted some slate stone bases, but the ones I found online are too OTT for me, so I made these masters: And Cast up: 5
spagunk
Beautiful work as always. Those bases look awesome.
scottshoemaker
Right. The converted libby is all primered. Again I used Vallejo German Red-Brown acrylic, thinned 3:1 with Flow-Aid and ran it through the airbrush. I completely covered the model as the whole thing needed a primer base. I didn't preprime with any enamel black or white this time. I'll get all the airbrushing complete before I assemble the body halves.

scottshoemaker
Got the yellow on the libby. In my ongoing effort to be as lazy as possible I eliminated a few of the yellows from the process, as they were getting redundant and not adding anything to the end result. Any of the "light' yellows were adding a pastel almost chalky quality to the finish I didn't like. I settled on Sun yellow directly over the scrolf brown and that work well. The yellow pictured had a tendency to clog the airbrush so it's been replaced with the Game Air version. Repriming the color split by hand. I use a chisel tip brush to make it easier. Two thin coats! Puttied up and ready for the booth I got the first resin bases painted for the previous unit. I'll flock and snow them up for some tundra action. I figure the cold base will contrast nicely with the warm paint scheme. 2

scottshoemaker
Time displaced progress shot for the libby. Most of the painting done and the decal applied. Also followed a couple of video tutorials for the power sword technique. I made it a little too dark, but that's ok I suppose. I did it in shades of grey then used the Plasma Fluid Ghost color over the greys to tint. 3

PumpkinHead
I gave you the poop emoji because your work is the sh*t! I enjoy seeing your progress knowing I will never spend that much time getting my models to look so good. One question though, does his face really pop that much when looking at the model, or was it just the flash, because he seems to be neon white.
scottshoemaker
No flash, just a little bit hot on the lights. But his face is intentionally pale. I thought it might me neat to paint this guy gaunt and pale, with dark creases and circles around his eyes to show the strain of his power. At some point I'll get more formal pics of these guys.

Brother Glacius
I really like the white helm. Even the white bar on top of the split helm looks good. I was starting to think they were a bit on the dark side (strange as yellow is half the model), but the white really works well in my opinion. scottshoemaker
I intentionally kept the colors more muted. GrimDARK after all.
brettdavis1991
are the helmet laurels free hand or decal? Prepping to do my own primaris mostly through an airbrush. What are you using to affix the sub assembled parts to the wood sticks? Thought of using elmers glue but maybe that would be too weak or leave too much residue.
