O Cadia!
Our homeworld and boot camp,
True patriot love,
In all our sons conscript!
With glowing las,
We seal the Eye,
The Cadian Gate, strong and fast,
With bolt and flame,
O Cadia!
We stand on guard for the
God-Emperor of Man,
Glorious and free,
O Cadia we stand on guard for thee!
O Cadia we stand on guard for thee!

Okay, ya white-shield hosers, let’s play some hockey! And keep the puck on the ice or I’m reportin’ ya to the Commissar, eh?

I miss pewter sometimes, and other times am really glad they ditched it. And then some plastic models, I kinda wished they made metal versions of.

Not that they'd be affordable, but I'd like some metal Kroot Carnivores. 1-piece metal Kroot. The plastic models are too flimsy for kroot carnivores and they have balance issues which I suspect I could fix on a metal model by just bending them a little bit.

On the other hand, the kroot hounds would really benefit from being plastic.

Meh, not the end of the world either way. Just rambling.

Nearly all balance problems with plastic miniatures (even big dragon types) can be solved by super-gluing a metal washer or coin under their base. It was much harder to correct balance problems on metal miniatures (especially the big dragon types... That @&$#ing forest dragon man. Loved the model but also kinda hated it).

The 40K galaxy has a planet in it that is literally named "Deathworld", but that planet is not classified as a Deathworld by the Imperium.

Iceland has less ice and more greenery than Greenland; Greenland has less greenery and more ice than Iceland.

Clearly, it is actually Risa.

If I were the Rogue Trader who discovered (and got myself appointed governor of) a paradise planet, I’d probably want the official star charts to call it something like “Deathworld,” “Hellscape,” or “Fireydeathbadplace.”

Keep the riff-raff away.

Or "deathworld" might become synonymous with "paradise planet"....

Isn't this basically the reason for the Iceland/ Greenland thing?

There's some dispute over the origins of the name, actually. Most historians accept that one of two origins is the most likely, some actually beleive that both might be true. The Saga of Naddoðr, says that Naddoðr of Norway was the first to reach the island in the 9th century, and that he named it Snæland or "snow land" because it was snowing. The Landnámabók Saga manuscript (which has a bit more archaeological evidence to back it up) says that another Norwegian, Hrafna-Flóki Vilgerðarson, traveled out to search for the lost Snæland... When Hrafna-Flóki arrived, whe wandered away from the rest of his companions in despair over the death of his daughter during the voyage. He found a fjord full of icebergs and decided to name the new settlement after that, so "snow land" became "ice land." Hrafna-Flóki's settlement was the first permanent settlement on the island, so his name stuck around and now we have Iceland. (And yes, Hrafna-Flóki is the basis for Floki on the History Channel show Vikings.)

A few years after Iceland got going, one of them by the name of Eiríkr Þorvaldsson or Eirk Thorvaldsson (better known to us as Erik the Red) was exiled from Iceland for manslaughter. Erik, his extended family, his retainers and thralls set out in ships to explore an icy land thought to lie to the northwest of Iceland. They found it, built a settlement, and he named it Grœnland or "green land,", supposedly in the hope that the pleasant name would attract settlers. Although, honestly, Greenland isn't all that much more snowy or green than Iceland... But it does make for a funny meme.

Wooo! $50,000 in student debt is money well spent after all.

With regards to Dark Eldar vehicles, is the idea that the elves have such good reflexes that they don't need seat belts?

Pretty much, yeah. Besides, you're gonna need to leap blades-first into enemy ranks at a moment's notice. Nothing undermines shock-and-awe style soul reaping like struggling with a stubborn lap belt and muttering curses to yourself.

The Hellions do have little chain things that hold them on their Skyboards. I think that's more about letting them do even more risky stuff without losing their boards than safety, tho.

Reaver?

GW's marines are always a big confusing on that point. For most codex chapters, the Scout Marines ARE the neophytes, but the neophytes don't have to be scouts. Neophytes are just the lowest rank of space marine, representing recent additions the chapter.

GK, for example, don't allow their neophytes to enter battle (they just aren't ready yet). BT field their neophytes alongside their other marines, in the Crusader squads.

Reivers, depsite GW's lack of weaponry on the models, actually represent specialists in their field. They aren't neophytes by any measure.

Anyway, was just asking. As far as I can tell, the primaris marines just too recent to have a formalized recruiting process. They can be grown (clone wars anyone?) or made of existing marines at a lovely 61% success chance.

Another question:

Is there a Primaris neophyte equivalent?

There may or may not be. We haven't been shown one yet, and it has been stated in at least one novel that Primaris Marines don't go through the Scout Company, but nothing truly conclusive about what they do before they're fully fledged Marines.

Random tactical thought.

If I move my transport, then destroy it in my shooting/psychic phase, my unit should be able to disembark and then charge on my turn. Not sure if I can deal enough damage to myself to make this work...

Hmm.. could do it by overcharging plasma on las/plas razors or CSM rhinos with combi-plasma. Both of those "slay" the vehicle when they rolls 1s to hit.

Vindicator Linebreaker Bombardment stratagem also has potential here, since they can damage friendly models. Hmm...
