pretre
As if that wasn’t enough, Chapter Approved 2018 will also feature a beta codex for the Adepta Sororitas! This is quite possibly Warhammer 40,000’s most anticipated codex ever, and we want to make sure we absolutely nail it, so, alongside our usual rigorous professional playtesting, we’re asking you to help us out and provide your thoughts. Make no mistake – while this is a beta codex, it’s a fully fledged one that offers the Adepta Sororitas more options and more cool stuff than ever before, allowing you (for the first time EVER) to represent the unique tactics of various orders with unique Orders Militant Convictions. The Order of the Bloody Rose, for instance, are zealous close combat specialists: There are loads of nifty Stratagems too – one our favourites is Burning Descent, which lets Seraphim purge the unclean from on high by giving them a free shooting attack when they arrive and increasing the range of their hand flamers: Deep fried heretic, anyone?
pretre
So, assuming Sky Strike is the same, (9" deep strike Turn 2 after), this is actually not horrible. Double shooting at 9" with flamers could work. It changes the loadout from inferno to flamers for Seraphim though since Inferno have 6" range. Ish
They might up the range of Inferno Pistols too... 12" range with a 6" melta effect wouldn't be unreasonable.
Dusldorf
hand flamers are d3 shots and strength 3...if that profile stays the same i don't understand how hand flamers would be even slightly better than inferno pistols, even with the stratagem. bloody rose order seems like it'll be the only way to run repentia. S8 such a huge improvement over S6.
Ish
The automatic hits (especially as a charge reaction) and ability to ignore cover are handy, but since most people will probably continue to use Seraphim as high mobility anti-heavy infantry and tank-hunters, letting the standard infantry Battle Sister Squads do the anti-infantry work, they probably won't see much use.

Ish
Maybe we'll see a re-roll charges or Always Strike First conviction? "Red Nuns is fasta."
pretre
TBH though, I expect inferno pistol seraphim to be dropped unless they are going to make a model for them in 2019. We have never had a model for them.

pretre
I'm pretty sure that they have said all of the rules in the beta codex are going to be for existing models. And new plastic isn't until 2019.
StygianArcanum
What have people heard on when in 2019? I've heard whispers of January, but the CA beta codex would seem to put that to rest. I've also heard Adepticon or later.

I've become so jaded by GW's past handling of the Battle Sisters that, at this point, I'm not even sure if they mean 2019 of the Gregorian calendar. Waiting for 2019 BE of the Bahá'í calendar* seems to be more likely. * That would be 3863 CE for those of you keeping track.

We have no official announcement other than "2019, if the emperor wills it". But if CA is the beta, that means time to see data, get feedback, write the book and print it.
Frowbakk
Well, so far that fits with the plan to make the first Beta iteration totally suck (no Inferno Pistol Seraphim, etc.) based on existing models without bits-swaps only. The release rumors of new models, with slogans like: "Hey, instead of that crappy old lead model which doesn't do the job, howzabout some spiffy new plastic kit which only currently exists as a computer render to theoretically bridge that gap in performance of those old, stodgy lead models you really, Really, REALLY don't want compered to the new upcoming Plastic Hotness, yes?" in order to stoke the flames of desire for new plastic models. Then mid-year a Beta 2.0 update with the new models shown (but not yet available, but proxy with paper cut-outs, a la Cardboard Ork Dreadnaught from way back when) and what do you know, actually GOOD rules to use with the about-to-be-released Codex and Models... Then eventually released, but toned down a bit because of Primaris Players tears at no longer being the New Hotness. And let's not forget, 9th Edition released a week later which makes their new rules completely unplayable. SARCASM OR DESPAIR, I JUST CAN'T TELL ANYMORE.... Dusldorf
I just remembered that seraphim will still be able to take inferno pistols from the index, so all is well
Ish
Hey! The Battle Sisters were never released in lead. They debuted well into the pewter era... They did see their first codex released less than three months before the change-over from Second to Third Edition though. That was “fun.”

Lord Hanaur
Very few things would be more impactful in a new codex than: Celestians with a purpose. Penitent Engines you can afford to consider A Canoness with a Vanguard move. The return of Witch Hunting anti-Psyker ability (screw Sisters of Silence). Strategems for maximizing the number of shots an Exorcist can make and adding the melta rul to the Exorcist.
Ish
As long as we’re wish listing... • Repressors in the mainline codex with a Citadel Model and not off in Forge World land. • Celestian Squads that have something to do (Sternguard special ammo?) • Cannoness being allowed to use jump packs again. • Bikers and/or Cavalry. VonVilkee
I'd like more hq options! Instead of a cannoness with jump pack how about cannoness as is with a new seraphim gone hq, we need a few new but not new units to mesh with the current edition.
