Guest
I don't know if I've purchased any music for myself. I don't like it that much, and my Dad is very into it, so he'd often push music on me and that's the very limited collection of CDs that I own. WestRider
I think it was Ignition by The Offspring, but I can't remember for certain. Might have been Van Halen's self-titled. Probably one of those two, tho.

You’re that much younger than me that Weezer blue was the first you bought for yourself? Yikes!

Ish
Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon and Wish You Were Here. Bought them both at the same time, so I’m not sure which one is “first.” I had buy my own, because my dad was always irritated that I kept “borrowing” his and never putting them back.

Duckman
Gah, you all make me feel old. Ish was almost not painful but then he explained he was replacing disks he kept stealing from his dad.... <sigh> I think my first music (not CDs for obvious reasons) were Jean Michel Jarre. Oxygen and Zoolook were purchased at the same time so no real first there.

What, and you bought Moving Pictures the day it came out in 81 when you were 20? As I recall you and I are about the same age, Yarb... I just refused to buy any "popular" music when I was in school (read popular as "we have both types, country *and* western!").

I did buy it in 1981. I was 14. I used to listen to it over and over again on my Realistic turntable with those big puffy Princess Leia looking headphones with a coily cord. Much 80's. So tech.
Andrewgeddon
First CD I ever purchased with my own money was Metallica's ...And Justice For All / Ride the Lightning (same trip). Prior to that, I had recieved as gifts a collection of Beach Boys songs, DC Talk's Jesus Freak (first expose to non-oldies music, blew me away) and Bush's 16 Stones / Razorblade Suitcase.
