rudra34
The time has come to jump on the bandwagon with the new hip game that's a hit with all the kewl kids! I know very little about the fluff of the game or the universe in which it is set, so I picked an army based on model types and the ability to strike hard up close. My main goal with this game is to have fun, so I will play in my own style and learn to adapt to it.Games seem like they will be starting out around 150 points, so this is my first list. Military Orders──────────────────────────────────────────────────Group 1 5 0 3 TEUTONIC KNIGHT Lieutenant Combi Rifle, Panzerfaust / Pistol, AP CCW. (1 | 34) KNIGHT HOSPITALLER Doctor (MediKit) MULTI Rifle / Pistol, AP CCW. (41) MAGISTER KNIGHT Panzerfaust, Light Shotgun / Pistol, EXP CCW. (25) MAGISTER KNIGHT Panzerfaust, Light Shotgun / Pistol, EXP CCW. (25) MAGISTER KNIGHT Panzerfaust, Light Shotgun / Pistol, EXP CCW. (25) 1 SWC | 150 PointsOpen with Army 5 Leading up to 300 points where I would like to aim for something like this: Military Orders──────────────────────────────────────────────────Group 1 10 0 3 ORDER SERGEANT Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (13) KNIGHT OF SANTIAGO Lieutenant Spitfire, E/M Grenades / Pistol, AP CCW. (1 | 45) KNIGHT OF SANTIAGO Spitfire, E/M Grenades / Pistol, AP CCW. (1.5 | 45) KNIGHT OF SANTIAGO Spitfire, E/M Grenades / Pistol, AP CCW. (1.5 | 45) KNIGHT HOSPITALLER Doctor (MediKit) MULTI Rifle / Pistol, AP CCW. (41) MAGISTER KNIGHT Panzerfaust, Light Shotgun / Pistol, EXP CCW. (25) MAGISTER KNIGHT Panzerfaust, Light Shotgun / Pistol, DA CCW. (24) MAGISTER KNIGHT Panzerfaust, Light Shotgun / Pistol, DA CCW. (24) ORDER SERGEANT Spitfire / Pistol, Knife. (1 | 19) ORDER SERGEANT Spitfire / Pistol, Knife. (1 | 19) 6 SWC | 300 PointsOpen with Army 5Other than the cheerleaders, everyone has solid CC abilities. My guns are all better at mid-to-short range, and the 360* LoF on the santiago knights will help to keep people from getting the drop on me. This is, of course, coming from a person who has never played the game before :)I look forward to getting some games in.
Raindog
That 300 point list looks brutal! Spitfires rock. I cannot wait to play it.
Exile
As someone who has come to love spitfires, seeing 5 in this list makes me very, very happy! 3 with 360 visors rocks, and having duplicate Santiagos disguises your LT quite effectively. Somewhat lacking in specialists, but in a straight up fight, pretty damn awesome.
rudra34
Specialist are for the weak! Admittedly it is the weak point in this list, and I the majority of my models are hackable. Still, I think that a fast, go-for-the-kill play style is going to surprise a lot of people in a game like this. At least from what I've seen, slow and steady seems to be the pace most people take with their forces.
Exile
Specialists are for objectives. If I claim one objective, kill your single specialist, and lose every model but one to your slayers, I win on scenario 99% of the time. Find room for a hacker, especially with the proportion of HI you have in your list.
Don't Panic
thats a very brutal list. 2W, high CC and a high phys along with standard high BS... just beware of of templates, markers and mines. i doubt many people will do anything but avoidance against that. and i thought aleph had a lot of spitfires LOL wow!
Raindog
Evan, Red Castle has a Military Order box in the store. I was just there. Cheers, RD

NakedPanda
maybe a baggage bot to re-supply the panzerfausts?
George
I'd try something like this to help round out your list for ITS missions. ITS missions pretty much require all the specialists you can field. Fusilier FO with deployable repeaters help with board control for your Father Knight hacker. You can run your Magister knights in a link team which will make them more deadly with burst +1 for the shotguns and the panzerfausts. Military Orders ────────────────────────────────────────────────── Group 1 10 0 3 KNIGHT OF SANTIAGO Lieutenant Spitfire, E/M Grenades / Pistol, AP CCW. (1 | 45) KNIGHT OF SANTIAGO Spitfire, E/M Grenades / Pistol, AP CCW. (1.5 | 45) FATHER-KNIGHT Hacker (Assault Hacking Device) Combi Rifle, D-Charges / Breaker Pistol, DA CCW. (1 | 19) FUSILIER (Forward Observer, Deployable Repeater) Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (12) FUSILIER (Forward Observer, Deployable Repeater) Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. rudra34
Thanks for the advice guys. Keep in mind I am maybe 5% off from having no idea what I'm doing. Other than straight up fights, I have not seen any other mission or scenario. At this point it's about learning the base mechanics, we can go deeper once I know how to walk into a room without getting my head blown off. The small list will definitely get revised to use the models I have currently. Military Orders──────────────────────────────────────────────────Group 1 6 0 1 TEUTONIC KNIGHT Lieutenant Combi Rifle, Panzerfaust / Pistol, AP CCW. (1 | 34) MAGISTER KNIGHT Panzerfaust, Light Shotgun / Pistol, EXP CCW. (25) KNIGHT HOSPITALLER Doctor (MediKit) MULTI Rifle / Pistol, AP CCW. (41) SPEC. SERGEANT Hacker (Hacking Device) Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 21) ORDER SERGEANT Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (13) ORDER SERGEANT Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (13) 1.5 SWC | 147 PointsOpen with Army 5This should do as a starter. The Knight Hospitaller will have to be a proxy, but he can deal with it.RD, I went in and picked up the box for myself and ordered the Knights of Santiago box. Should be set to actually play by the weekend. On a side note, the quality of these minis is really good. Especially good considering how much I had working with metal. rudra34
maybe a baggage bot to re-supply the panzerfausts? With any luck they will only need to take a few shot with them before they are in close-quarters. Between their impetuous movement and rushing towards enemy lines, wouldn't a bot following along slow them down? Can it supply them remotely or does it need to keep close?
NakedPanda
has to be close, but if they are linked they do not run around all willy nilly! They become regular not impetuous in a link

rudra34
Got the starter set today, all cleaned, assembled, and ready to play. Also, they fit perfectly on the scale of terrain that I have been making. What I want to do terrain wise is a little out of place for sci-fi, but with the addition of a few accessories, antennas, pipes, and electrical do-dads, I think it will work quite nicely.

rudra34
The terrain would work as Haqqislam terrain. Very true. And I am discovering that the difference between fantasy and sci-fi terrain is 90% little bits. Fantasy. Sci-fi. I think a trip to the hardware store and maybe searching for some 40k bits are in my future.
Don't Panic
when i get around to doing terrain(after i get a fat mat) im going to do something more kinda malifaux-esque terrain. kinda like a deserted future western town with things like a pool hall, video games and a strip mall food court. think that would be kinda fun... i already bought two garbage dumpsters that were on sale lol. yours looks great so far. really cool that you guys are home-making this. i just know if i did it it would like like a 5 year olds arts and craft project.... NakedPanda
There are fringe planets in the Infinity universe, think outer worlds from Firefly. and Earth is pretty much Blade Runner for that matter.

Peanut
Evan, I was just talking to one of the Infinity guys from RC last night about some of the nastier link teams out there. Apparently a magister knight link team is crazy good. They have hyperdynamics, which means they get a +3 to dodge rolls, so they don't give a damn about templates, especially considering their decent armor and 2 wounds. So they're dodging on 17s! Templates almost can't hurt them. That's perfect for charging in to close combat. And Panzerfausts are so good. In a link they'll be blasting two of those off each order. Pretty amazing.

This is what I've been reading about as well. Also, they dodge even better in a link as they are able to benefit from cover when they lose their impetuous rule. My lists are slowly changing to reflect what I'm reading about the army, but not so much that I lose the core of what I want to play. Military Orders ────────────────────────────────────────────────── Group 1 7 0 0 KNIGHT OF SANTIAGO Lieutenant Spitfire, E/M Grenades / Pistol, AP CCW. (1 | 45) KNIGHT OF SANTIAGO Spitfire, E/M Grenades / Pistol, AP CCW. (1.5 | 45) KNIGHT HOSPITALLER Doctor (MediKit) MULTI Rifle / Pistol, AP CCW. (41) SPEC. SERGEANT (CH: TO Camouflage, Infiltration, Forward Observer) Combi Rifle, Antipersonnel Mines / Pistol, Knife. (27) SPEC. SERGEANT Hacker (Hacking Device) Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 21) ORDER SERGEANT Spitfire / Pistol, Knife. (1 | 19) ORDER SERGEANT Spitfire / Pistol, Knife. (1 | 19) Group 2 4 0 3 MULEBOT (Minesweeper) Electric Pulse. (8) MAGISTER KNIGHT Panzerfaust, Light Shotgun / Pistol, EXP CCW. (25) MAGISTER KNIGHT Panzerfaust, Light Shotgun / Pistol, EXP CCW. (25) MAGISTER KNIGHT Panzerfaust, Light Shotgun / Pistol, EXP CCW. (25) 5 SWC | 300 Points Open with Army 5 Right now this seems like a good list to aim for. Edit: Cover doesn't add a bonus to dodge, it only affects the effectiveness of BS attacks and ARM rolls. Still, better to get it than to not.
Peanut
Looks super fun - make sure you have enough orders in your combat group to move that link team around, four might not get much done, especially if they're CC oriented.
