Looks super fun - make sure you have enough orders in your combat group to move that link team around, four might not get much done, especially if they're CC oriented.

Also good info :)   I may put them into a group with the santiago knights and switch the order sergeants into their own group.  A lot of the KoS's roll will be reactive, so I might not need to move them around as much.   I think this is the kind of thing I'm going to need experience to get a better grasp of.

Going hard on the terrain before I get to work today.  I decided that it would be best to make all of the structures first instead of plastering and painting them all at once.  This will be give a chance to have a full, playable set which can then be worked on individually.

Here is the WIP observatory that I started on today.

Each piece will have levels at 2, 3, and/or 4 inches.   The buildings can be crossed at points on any level, and each level will have ladders connecting them to the others.

Hoping to get more done tonight, we'll see how I'm feeling after work.

I dunno.  Once bodies start to drop I think it would go pretty quick.  And with set objectives game time can be limited.

Working on the observatory today.   Thank god it will get plaster on it later, because there are a lot of cracks to smooth out on the tower.  Who would have thought that making a hexagon could be so complicated?

Models are the same, if I have time today I will seal the couple of gaps that I left when assembling.

Today I got my guys all green-stuffed and primed, and got the main structure of the observatory done.  I'm not 100% happy with some of the wall connections, hopefully it will look better when the plaster is put on.

I started painting my first order sergeant, but got called into the restaurant early and had to stop.  I am absolutely stoked about the color scheme so far, and really excited to get my first group finished.  Also, I have dice that match them...so what's not to be happy about?  I'll put up a pic tonight, for now I need dinner and large amounts of tequila to celebrate a successful event at work.

Cheers!

First Serg. is done, just needs to be sealed and then have the base worked out.  I'm definitely happy with how he came out, the models are crazy detailed, but lend themselves to painting pretty well.  A few places are kinda fudged where it is hard to reach with a brush (under the f-ing gun), but I can overlook that.

Look forward to working on the rest of them, but first I have to buy some flat, clear sealer.

Got my first game in with Nate who rightly swept me off the table.   Definitely a lot to take in, but I will need more games in before I actually have any idea what I'm doing.  The magister is out for now, as he is too much of a risk in low-points.  In the next game I'll try out my sniper to see how they fair.

i think you did fine.  the link team thorakitai was as good as i thought it would be and thats a tough thing to play against first. i should have kicked it down a notch(but at least i didnt play a TR bot like i had to face first game lol).  first game is always brutal.  movements take a few games to get down i feel as well as deployment.  impetuous is also hard to deal with first time.   you definitely have a good feel for the rules,  as good as me i feel anyways.  i learn something new every game.  for example, avoid taking panzerfaust shots...

Yes, that thing is brutal when it hits.  I definitely learned a lot from this match, I'm sure that will continue as I get more games in.

In the end I did get a good laugh watching you roll a 1 on the sale D20.

Today I'm going to do minimal work, but I did go to Ace to pick up some choice items.  I'll test out my clear spray on a few old models to make sure it looks alright, and I may build the framework for a few basic barricades.

Terrain is all coming together quite nicely.  I built some basic wall pieces today which can go together in many ways, and added a few items and details to the existing pieces.

And my first guy is 100% now.  Sealed, Based, and ready to get shot off the board.

Edit: God, I really need a better camera.

Before work I got in one game with OgreSeth tonight.  I had one game under my belt, he had none, so I had just barely more of an idea of how I wanted to play than him.  In the end neither of us healed any hostages, though I managed to kill one with my love (failed to heal).  I did manage to kill him to a man, but lost my doctor in the process.  A couple of learned moments from the game:

MAGISTER KNIGHT - Totally redeemed himself in this game after dying the first turn of my game with DP.  This guy ran down the board and obliterated two guys, one of them a knight himself, with his insane combat stats.  Then he got lucky and managed to pick off two fusiliers with panerfaust shots.  This showed me exactly how good these guys can be, they just need to be well-placed and taken care of.  A little bit of luck doesn't hurt either.

SNIPERS - Are scary!  Seth's put down some serious fire against me and kept me scared for quite a while.  I only ended up losing one model to sniper fire, but I was scared of moving anyone anywhere while he was alive.

DOCTORS - Are nice, but not as reliable as I would like to imagine.  I feel that in a lot of games, especially at low points, that wasting orders to get into healing position might not be worth it.  The points may be better spent on more offensive options.

I wish I could have stayed all night, and I cannot wait to get more games in.  Every game is a learning experience and the game has a ton of potential for fun.  For now I'll try some different lists, but I am definitely going to rock the 4-5 Magister knight star at 300 points.

Special shout out to Nate for selling me his special edition Joan of Arc.  That model is absolutely f-ing beautiful.

i agree with all your thoughts lol.  its hard to get a a feeling of a model from gameplay because random things can happen and sometimes they just get popped even against odds really.  stats wise your magister knight is a [big bad swear word]ing badass tank.  snipers are indeed amazing but they are only B2 so even with their high hitting all they have to do is roll 2 crappy dice and you hit them once in aro and they generally fall because they dont have much ARM.  what you say about doctors is my thought as well. healing a guy that costs an order and at best has a 75% to pop back up im not sure if its worth it unless its a piece you really need(we talked about this tonight).  its worth it to have them in the list though cause you dont know when that situation will come where its your extreme fallback plan of 'what will i do with my last order' situation and if you really need to heal that guy for an objective.  but yes ive read on the forums that docs/engineers are order inefficient in general, but its nice to have them for situations and thats the reason why they have ITS be so specialist oriented is to have even more purpose for them.  its hard for me cause my cheapest doc/engineer is 20 points(and he's a terrible line trooper wip13) lol so they have to provide multiple assets or they are not worth it.  but i do have one of the most badass docs in the game so 'meh' lol.

and np about the joan of arc.  just glad she has someone to play her!  personally, i think you'd want to keep her as is just because you never know when you just want to randomly use her and rock out(YOU KNOW YOU WILL, just picture her running down the field with your magister knights in a frenzy blurr..)!  special characters are not like how they are in fantasy.  they are much more fragile than a WoC 1+ 3++ rerolling 1s :P  mine die all the time.  even achilles is very easy to take out if you have the tools.

Youre right on all accounts Evan. I had trouble with Seths sniper tonight too. I found myself in a situation where I couldnt move at all without risk that just seemed too high. I think HMGs are the answer to Snipers. Or other snipers. Or spec fire maybe.

Smoke! That, and ODD/Camo/etc as much as possible to make the sniper's penalties as high as possible. Not a guarantee of course, but definitely helps as I've learned the hard way! :)

smoke and hit them with an msv piece.  thats the most devastating way to take care of snipers/bots.  msv snipers are tricky but as you said TR bots and spec shots.  spec shots can take either but both are pretty hard feats to pull off.  i think my highest bs spec shooter is pheonix with bs13 and heavy rockets.  he's very good at it but still its B1 so you are at best going to be on 10s and your opponent will be rolling a dodge around the same so its basically a dice off.

Phoenix in a Link Team (for B2 with that frickin' RL) is a mean, mean model! :(

here's a question i just thought of: if you shoot a guy through smoke with msv, technically they cant see you... is that considered within LoF and can they dodge?  that seems dirty if so lol.

as for pheonix link, yea i used that last week.  he is a murdering machine as advertised.  im going to go away from heavy on the greek guys for a while just cause i can only stand greek fraternity for so long
