indytims
here's a question i just thought of: if you shoot a guy through smoke with msv, technically they cant see you... is that considered within LoF and can they dodge? that seems dirty if so lol. as for pheonix link, yea i used that last week. he is a murdering machine as advertised. im going to go away from heavy on the greek guys for a while just cause i can only stand greek fraternity for so long I think you can Dodge, but you're -3 if you don't have LOF to where the shot is coming from? I could be wrong. Hasn't come up yet in the few games I've played. :)

NakedPanda
It is very different than the conventions that most of the other games adhere to (2d6 Ld/Courage/willpower tests etc) These go away fast as people get it better. Our group only derps over timing really. as for smoke, two models can not draw los/lof through it. In this case MSV2 ignores smoke, granting that model LOS/LoF. If that active MSV2 model fires on a non MSV equipped model through said smoke, the MSV2 model takes not penalty, while the non MSV model suffers a -6BS penalty to fire back (shooting back desperately at the muzzle flash and the like). The rulebook has better graphics and more articulation than I do though so double check with that before you believe anything I say!
rudra34
Looking at this for a list in the "high ground" scenario next week. Military Orders──────────────────────────────────────────────────Group 1 7 0 2 FUSILIER Lieutenant Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (10) MAGISTER KNIGHT Panzerfaust, Light Shotgun / Pistol, EXP CCW. (25) MAGISTER KNIGHT Panzerfaust, Light Shotgun / Pistol, DA CCW. (24) SPEC. SERGEANT (CH: TO Camouflage, Infiltration) MULTI Sniper Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 33) SPEC. SERGEANT (CH: TO Camouflage, Infiltration, Forward Observer) Combi Rifle, Antipersonnel Mines / Pistol, Knife. (27) SPEC. SERGEANT Hacker (Hacking Device) Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 21) FUSILIER Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (10) 2 SWC | 150 PointsOpen with Army 5 If I get points, good for me. Mainly I'm trying to learn the game, and this gives me new options and units to test out. Cleaning and assembling Joan today. I would love to put a masked head on her, as painting flesh is still my least favorite thing to do. The other alternative is to just paint her head up in the same color scheme as the armor as if it IS a mask or an AI presence.

Hasn't come up yet in the few games I've played. :) Looking through the book, so far, if you don't have LOF to your attacker, you can't Dodge - with the exception being template weapons. If you're hit by a template and can't see your attacker, you can Dodge -3. Still looking, though. Not having a chance to Dodge would be really important. :)

rudra34
Got stomped twice by DP today at 150 and 170 points. I had strong points in both games, and I got to test a few units out, but I just couldn't keep up the pressure. He hacked the [big bad swear word] out of me in the 170 game, which brought my magisters to a halt. In the 150 game, I started out strong, but couldn't kill any of his insanely good, smoke-laying mother f-ers. I like to think I put up a good fight, and look forward to getting more games in. Magisters are still the [big bad swear word], I just need more practice with them. Honestly when they are in linked groups I can't think of a better 25 point model. Don't Panic
i think we should have more myrmidon vs magister action. they are really an interesting mirror match. you dodge on a 17 and i dodge on a 15 with smoke and ODD. both have very good elusiveness and just want to get into CC and murder the [big bad swear word] out of each other. you almost killed my asura even when i was protecting her which is pretty amazing. that game was super close cause if i didnt get those hacks off its a totally different game. second game was the first time i got really annoying with myrmidons. i was pissed you killed my agema that i was looking forward to using lol. looking forward to more games! i cant get enough of this game. rudra34
I am at least glad that I killed the Asura (exploding sword to the face!). Things went south after that, but it was still a good game.

rudra34
Properly stomped by Eric and Pete today in 2 150 point games. Everything operated as intended, I just need more practice. Also, speculative fire is total bull[big bad swear word]! :)Picked up a PanO starter kit afterwards to get my cheap fusiliers and a few other models. Look forward to pumping out some new stuff this week.
Don't Panic
yea spec fire is good, but it does entail a -6 mod and takes ya down to B1 but considering you cant generally see it you dont get to dodge which is bad for your poor knights cause of fire/explosive ammo :( i finally got down spec fire after [big bad swear word]ing it up for the first few weeks lol. rudra34
Yeah, it's brutal. Now that I have the models I may go no-knights next week and see how it goes. You need them in links for them to be at their most effective, and they are quite the investment at 150.
rudra34
Something like this maybe (really wish I could squeeze out those last 3 points): Military Orders──────────────────────────────────────────────────Group 1 8 0 0 FUSILIER Lieutenant Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (10) FUSILIER (Forward Observer, Deployable Repeater) Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (12) FUSILIER HMG / Pistol, Knife. (1 | 18) SPEC. (0.5 | 21) ORDER SERGEANT Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (13) ORDER SERGEANT Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (13) 3 SWC | 147 PointsOpen with Army 5 I'm also having a hard time deciding if I'm playing too aggressively, or not aggressive enough. Game is tricky, yo! You can Dodge (at -3) vs. Speculative fire templates, even if you can't see the shooter. (See "Dodging Template Weapons", pg 55) The example on pg 63 does that too, with Poor Old Angus. LOL. Also, when you use Speculative fire template, you don't -have- to target a model. You can target the ground next to him, and ignore cover/ODD/TO Camo, etc (See "Speculative Fire Tactical Advice", pg 62) Unless I am missing something somewhere, the above are things I've had done to me over the past 4 games! LOL! :)

rudra34
Got all my PanO dudes cleaned and assembled (aside from the Akalis I'm trading Pete). Once the knights set I ordered comes in the only things I will need are more order sergeants and a buttload of robots. *sigh* Curse you, addictive games!
rudra34
Got the 'stucco' layer onto two of my buildings today, as soon as they dry I can add detail then spray the first coat of primer onto them. I spent some time looking at list-building, and from what I have learned in my games so far I came to this conclusion: DIVERSITY. IS. GOOD. Having a lot of different specialists and different types of troops not only gives you flexibility, but it also forces your opponent to choose which models are the highest threat. It is ok to want to have an army that is good at shooting, or good at hacking, or table control, or combat, or whatever, but you also need to cover your bases. Even a single model with a different trick up it's sleeve can completely throw your opponent off guard. With that in mind, I made this list: Military Orders──────────────────────────────────────────────────Group 1 8 0 0 FATHER-KNIGHT Lieutenant Combi Rifle / Breaker Pistol, DA CCW. (44) FATHER-KNIGHT Hacker (Assault Hacking Device) Combi Rifle, D-Charges / Breaker Pistol, DA CCW. (0.5 | 50) FATHER-KNIGHT Boarding Shotgun / Breaker Pistol, DA CCW. (43) FUSILIER Missile Launcher / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 15) FUSILIER (Forward Observer, Deployable Repeater) Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (12) SPEC. SERGEANT (Multispectral Visor L2) Spitfire / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 24) SPEC. SERGEANT (Multispectral Visor L2) Spitfire / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 24) SPEC. SERGEANT Combi Rifle + AUXBOT_1 / Pistol, Knife. (17) AUXBOT_1 Heavy Flamethrower / Electric Pulse. (4)Group 2 4 0 0 SIERRA DRONBOT HMG / Electric Pulse. (1 | 25) PEACEMAKER Heavy Shotgun + AUXBOT_1 / Electric Pulse. (23) AUXBOT_1 Heavy Flamethrower / Electric Pulse. (4) MACHINIST Combi Rifle, D-Charges / Pistol, Knife. (15) FUGAZI DRONBOT Flash Pulse, Sniffer / Electric Pulse. (8) 6 SWC | 300 PointsOpen with Army 5 I could be talking out of my ass, but this list gets me excited about 300 point games.
