Lord Hanaur
Just now getting details about this one. They have an extremely large gaming area. The last tournament we had there was about 26 players. Should be more this time and hey, i don't have to run it. Double bonus. https://www.facebook.com/events/694130560767447/
Skkipper
1000 points. that calls for a greater brass scorpion!!
Lord Hanaur
I wonder if maybe they are going to need some guidelines on this one? Lol.
Lord Hanaur
BTW, Carpooling is recommended for this one. Parkings a little sparse so an FYI if you're coming. I went up and caught a game up there and was reminded that it might be good to say that. =) Plus car pooling to events is always more fun anyways. WestRider
It's also the easiest venue I know of in the region to get to by transit. It's like 3 blocks from the main Tacoma transfer point, that a huge number of buses stop at.
Lord Hanaur
yeah getting their by bus is a snap.
Skkipper
1000 Points with standard ITC limits was just too much to miss. I will be headed down for this.
PumpkinHead
I have it marked on the calendar.

I don't have my Brass Scorpion built yet, so I'm trying to decide between Daemon Summoning or my Chaos Knight.
Skkipper
Yeah I threatened to finish my fire raptor so I could go with 2 heldrakes, a storm eagle and fire raptor
PumpkinHead
Someone has to bring a brass scorpion to this thing... Not me, I mean I only have 3 Flyrants in my list, but its no brass scorpion.

PumpkinHead
Yay! I read your last post wrong, thought you were bringing the helldrakes list.
WestRider
I just realized that double StormSurge is possible. Cadre Fireblade, 2x5 Fire Warriors, 2 StormSurges. Still 130 Points to upgrade or add stuff.

Skkipper
how does Tau get around the ITC rule of only one LOW?
PumpkinHead
I think they can be taken as a squad of up to
Lord Hanaur
Tau get around it because the Stormsurge is just T6 and 3+ save. It can most definitely be killed. The one use missiles which require yet more investment in the form of plenty of Markerlights to fire at full effect are cool but expensive to fire and the model itself costs about 440 points just to get it. In other words, their big bad stompy thing just isn't in the same underpriced category as some of the others. More than one Imperial Knights can actually be taken in the ITC. People rarely do it but you can take more than one if it's in a Formation I think is how it works. The game made a very big mistake when it allowed the Super Heavies, Gargantuans and Forge World into the normal game but it's where we are at. I only take one StormSurge generally but i feel pretty much compelled to take it because without it i cannot really fight off the enemy "big stuff". when you show up with a Brass Scorpion, it's like "well... I guess i have no choice NOW". Which was of course by design. it's unfortunate but it's where we be. The Tau Gargant just isn't the unkillable thing some others can be, and even the basic STR 3 trooper can assault it and hurt it.

PumpkinHead
It's T6, 3+ save, 8 wounds, and 5+ FNP. Not the easiest thing to erase. Take 2, anchor them down on opposite sides of the board and shoot until nothing is moving.
WestRider
The actual reasoning for allowing multiples was that the ITC restrictions at the time limited Armies to 1 Super Heavy/Gargantuan Unit. So multiple StormSurges got in because they're a single Unit. I don't own even a single StormSurge, so I'm not doing it, but I thought it was worth noting.

Unfortunately fast assault untis are an issue and Gargants cant overwatch. also you can only take one UNIT of them so they would have to be together not in opposite corners. Otherwise yes: it will make a mess of things when you have two unless you whittle and cut one down reasonably early so that its brother wont have TWO stomp attempts every round, it will only have one. Though with their dimensions, its often true that the one BEHIND the first one may not get any anyways. Geometry is a thing.
PumpkinHead
At 1k, 2 of these dudes would be brutal. I wasn't thinking of the whole same unit thing...

Accept against a brass scorpion on a 4x4 table. They don't have enough to punch through armour 14 in the two turns before it eats your face.

There's enough Points left in that for some decent Markerlight support.
