The Bellingham Warhamsters Present:

'Ham Slamwich 2014

What: A 1-day Warhammer Fantasy tournament, and a qualifier for the NW Masters
When: Saturday 11/22/14, 10am check-in
Where: Dark Tower Games, 1431 Railroad Ave, Bellingham, WA
Size: 2500 points
Participants: We’re limiting this to 30 participants

For those of you who have been to Warhamster events before, you know what to expect. For those that haven't, we aim to create a relaxed, inclusive environment where being a good general doesn't mean you have to throw sportsmanship out the window. Leave any win at all cost attitude at home, and come prepared to play hard and have fun. Next door to a pub, plenty of good food and drink in easy walking distance. The schedule has been specifically structured to allow for plenty of time to eat, drink, and socialize. This is also a qualifier for the NW Masters!

REGISTRATION IS FULL!!

If you're interested in having your name put on the alternate list, please send me a PM here on the Ordo boards. I'll contact you as spots open up. In the meantime, while I've preserved the info below, don't send us any more money!

Send $20 via Paypal to bellinghamwarhamsters@gmail.com . When you send your payment, please indicate the following information:

  • Player name

  • Preferred email address

Or pay a Warhamster in person (providing the above information on a sheet of paper to be passed along to Joey or Jim with the payment)

An updated list of paid participants (and likely army) will be kept in this post.

Army Selection:

  • 2500 points
  • Army lists must be submitted to the TOs 3 weeks prior to the event. Players who fail to do so will not be eligible for prize draws and may be dropped from the tournament. We’ll send a reminder e-mail out to folks before lists are due. Army lists may be sent to bellinghamwarhamsters (at) gmail (dot) com . Please spell out your magic items and unit upgrades fully to make comp judging easier!
  • The armies allowed are those from any of the currently published GW Army books and Chaos Dwarves' The Legion of Azgorh from Tamurkhan: The Throne of Chaos. Any other Forge World based army lists or units may not be used on the event.
  • Folding Fortress is not allowed
  • Magic users must have their lore choice noted on their army list entry.
  • This event is using the Swedish Composition System. A link to the most recent version of the Swedish Composition System can be found here: http://swfbr.ipbhost.com/index.php?showtopic=4494
  • All armies must have a Swedish Comp Score of 5 or higher.
  • First round pairings will be done on the basis of Comp Scores.
  • For each match, the difference in Comp Scores (multiplied by 100) will be awarded to the player with the highest Comp Score as bonus VPs. For example, in a game where an 8 army is matched against a 10 army, the player of the 10 army will begin the match with 200 VPs

Games:

  • The tournament will consist of three 2.5 hour rounds.
  • Scenarios will be posted 1 month in advance of the tournament.
  • For each match, the difference in Comp Scores (multiplied by 100) will be awarded to the player with the highest Comp Score as bonus VPs. For example, in a game where an 8 army is matched against a 10 army, the player of the 10 army will begin the match with 200 VPs.
  • At the end of each round players will calculate victory points (page 143). The players then use the following table to determine the Battle Points received by each player.

  • Several pieces of resin terrain from Worldsmith Industries will be randomly raffled to participants not winning another prize.
  • $50 gift certificates for Dark Tower Games will be awarded for:
    • Best Overall (determined by best average rank across all three categories, tie-breaker is Battle Points)
    • Best General (determined by highest Battle Points, tie-breaker is Sportsmanship)
    • Best Sportsman (determined by opponent-rated questions and votes for favorite opponent; tie-breaker is Battle Points)
    • Best Painting (determined by player vote, tie-breaker is judging by the TOs
  • Best Overall will receive an additional something special. From Forge World.
  • There will be some other special prizes for some very special people. Because special people deserve special things. Also, surprises are nice.

Scenarios

All scenarios will award the Swedish composition point differential (x100) in VP to the higher ranked army. An additional 500 VP will be available each game from scenario points. Detailed narratives and descriptions of scenarios will be provided in the tournament pack on the day of the tournament. But, for list building/practice purposes, a summary of each scenario follows:

Game 1: Diagonal deployment, with units deployed no closer than 9” from the center line. At the end of the game, you score 125 VPs for each board quarter that contains one of your scoring units, and no enemy scoring units. Scoring units for this scenario are units consisting of at least one full rank, as appropriate to the unit type (e.g., 5 for infantry or cavalry, 3 models for monstrous infantry and monstrous cavalry). Units consisting of single models or units without ranks (skirmishers, chariots, monsters, warmachines, etc.) do not count as scoring units. Characters do count toward determining whether a unit has a complete rank. If a unit is straddling two or more quarters, it counts as being in the one in which the majority of the unit falls (if equal, the controlling player decides).

Game 2: 12” deployment zones. Two objectives (which are treated as open terrain) are placed on the field, 18 inches from each player's table edge and 18 inches from each player's left flank. Starting on the 3rd game turn, each objective can be scored. You score an objective if, at the end of your opponent's turn,  you have an un-engaged scoring unit within 3" of the objective, and there are no enemy scoring units within 3" of the objective. When you score an objective, you earn 250 VPs, and the objective is removed and cannot be scored further. Scoring units for this scenario are any unit containing a standard, a battle standard, or the army's general.

Game 3: 12” deployment zones. An objective (which is treated as open terrain) is placed in the center of the table. You score the objective if, at the end of the game, you have a scoring unit within 3" of the objective and there are no enemy scoring units within 3" of the objective. When you score the objective, you recieve 500 VP. Scoring units for this scenario are units consisting solely of infantry or monstrous infantry.

List Submission:

Please submit your list via e-mail to bellinghamwarhamsters@gmail.com no later than Sunday, November 2nd at noon. When submitting your list, please follow these guidelines:

1) Please spell out all of your magic items and upgrades – please don’t use abbreviations or shortened versions of names (e.g., use “Banner of Eternal Flame”, not “Flame Banner”). Exception: you can use the term “Full Command” to reference units that have been upgraded with a Champion, Musician, and Standard Bearer.

2) Indicate the the magic lore used for any spellcasters.

3) Please don’t list equipment or steeds that comes standard on the unit (e.g., don’t list Chaos Armour on an entry for Chaos Warriors)

4) End Time rules and units will not be used for this tournament (to maximize the utility of the Swedish Comp system)

5) Please make an entry for each unit, even if it is repeated (e.g., no “3 x 5 Chaos Warhounds”).

6) Please indicate the points cost and Swedish comp penalties associated with each unit.

7) Include a separate section with Swedish comp penalties that are not specific to any one unit.

We will contact you as quickly as possible if there are any list discrepancies. Please make our job as easy as possible by submitting a clear and accurate army list! Those who submit clear and error-free army lists will be entered into a separate prize raffle.

SWAG!!

Thought you might like to get a look at the swag for the Slamwich. It's no where near the Walpurgis-level of epicness that we've done in the past, but I do like it when folks have a few unique little keepsakes that are used in the scenarios.

So, we've got a crashed warpstone meteor, no doubt fallen when Morrslieb's orbit brought it close to the Old World. We've also got a Chaos summoning circle (which also happens to be the perfect size for those of you with Daemon armies who need a cool portalglyph marker). The Wardancer is just there for scale.

K9PiXqo.jpg

The warpstone meteor is removable, and fits into the summoning circle, as well. Of course, Warhammer is fun, but Boozehammer is pretty epic, too. There will be alternate Boozehammer rules for each scenario, and the crater and summoning circle both happen to perfectly fit a shotglass (which you'll also be getting for the tournament)!

Of course, I'm not going to paint yours for you. The unpainted resin versions, and the swag in it's entirety is shown above. In addition, we'll have some cool narrative scenarios, some great prizes, and some resin terrain to raffle off from Worldsmith Industries.

Yea! Glad to see so many familiar - this should be tons of fun!

all paid and signed up.  How is paint being scored?

The plan is to have a few fairly objective pieces scored by each opponent you play (all models painted, all models based, etc.) with the rest determined by player vote - We set up time to peruse armies and vote on your favorite armies, with variable points assigned based on first, second, third, etc. Tie-breaker is a TO decision between the top armies.

Will you be selling your Worldsmith terrain there Jim?

Only if I have everything cast and distributed for the Kickstarter first (backers first, and all that). In other words, probably not, but I really hope so!

Also, your Swiss Comp link leads to some random weight loss post by daily4605.

I think I found the most updated version via Google but could you fix the link just to be sure?

Take the hint, porkchop! Not sure how that happened, but it's corrected now!

I would appreciate being labeled as goblins in recognition of using a special character to even get to that point. :D

Fair enough!

So per Corey's message above, Special Characters are a go?

Swedish Comp should already figure in the cost and power of the special characters, so we're giving it a go. Hopefully we don't regret it!

So I tried downloading the Swiss Comp from your link and I think it gave me a Trojan horse virus.  Any way you can post them somewhere to view without download?

I'm going to have to come up with a new "worst at downloading" award for the tournament. Heres a link to what's the most recent document now, though it updates occasionally: https://www.dropbox.com/s/wso616i3nm8ozyk/Swedish%20Comp%20System%20v1.13.5.pdf

It's so wrong it's right!

I should note that while there will be awesome swag, there won't be Walpurgis-level swag. That usually entails me sacrificing 4 months of hobby time, and I'm too wrapped up with casting for the last kickstarter to do that. There still should be some cool stuff, just much less than what I've led folks to expect. :) Still should be a kicking rad narrative and lots of fun, though. And hella-cool prize support (including prizes for winners and raffles for the rest of us).
