  2. It probably would have been properly purple if I hadn't tried to cover up the pearlescent paint with it, or painted white first before putting the shyish purple over it. As it is, I don't think it's awful. I can always go back and fix it with a bit of grey or white. I guess I should clarify. That black part of the bodysuit? For the lower torso and thighs? That was the starting bit of Basilicum Grey I started using. That same Basilicum Grey is also what I used on the arms and for the bits of the lower legs and boots. So I'm fairly certain part of the problem is just that the pigment gets stuck to the tongue on the lid of the paint pot, resulting in absurdly dark paint. It's probably my inexperience with GW paint pots that caused that.

  4. Okay, so I went and got contrast paints for my Tohaa / Spiral Corps. Lesson 1 with these: you REALLY REALLY REALLY need to shake the paint pot. A lot. Like a [big bad swear word] ton. And the first bit you get out of the pot from the Citadel's little lid lifter thing? You basically want to throw it away. There's way too much pigment in that first bit I got out such that the white looked grey and the grey looks black. But DAMN if that paint doesn't go on smooth. I know there's spots I can clean up but I'm just feeling done for now. Given the mistakes I had at the start I think that actually looks pretty good. The cloak I will need to think about; I tried putting a pearlescent paint on it but the color was not anywhere near where the color I was expecting. So I tried just covering it with the shyish purple and it ended up basically black.

  6. I like this version a lot. If I were a nitpicking man (and I am, when it comes to my beloved Drukhari), I'd point out that multiple phantasm grenade launchers have diminishing value. It's an extremely rare case that reducing the leadership of 3 separate units is useful. It's usually marginally useful against 1 unit per turn, tops. Consider that PGL+shardnet/impaler costs the same as hydra gauntlets+agoniser. I'd make one shardnet squad (the large one) and make the other 2 pure damage dealers. Hydra+agoniser

  10. After discussing their findings (Barca and Phyfor88) on testing out the city fight rules we have decided to just have the city fight tables played with standard rules. In addition we will craft a basic scenario for use on the city fight tables that will be similar to a fair fight mission where attacker/defender are on equal footing. Please stand by for specifics on the mission for the city fight tables. Thanks to James and Nelson for testing out the city fight rules.

  19. So, I have been binging shows lately... Westworld (Season 2) - 3/5 - It's not bad but it lacks the punch of the first season. Season 1 managed to find a unique way to tell its story and include twists. Season 2 had a theme that was present and introduced us to a complex subplot but it failed to have the spark as the first season, reusing some of the same tropes and trying to layer new twists on twists from the first season which made them seem old-hat. Warrior (Season 1) - 2/5 - This one is nudity and violence for sensationalism with what could be a serious and gripping storyline that is ignored for the sensationalism. The fighting has some decent choreography but it is sparse with most of the violence simply being attacks on untrained victims. Season 2 has been picked up so maybe they'll do something with the foundation they have built but this one is not high on my list. Mr. Robot (Season 1) - 4.5/5 - It's not perfect but I really enjoy the writing. Rami manages to stay totally in character and still break the fourth wall routinely. The twists are well done and the show manages to have a sense of humor and still cover a dark subject.

  25. phyfor88 and I ran two missions in the city fighting rules. We still have some playtesting to do. One mistake we made was assuming that a unit could only assault one adjacent room. This is not true. On page 61 of the handbooks that contain the city fighting rules, the assaulting unit has two arrows for their assault. "The Assaulting player chooses one or more enemy-held Rooms Adjacent to Rooms held by the Assaulting Unit. These are the Contested Rooms" In the search for advice and clarifications of city fighting rules, I only found one article that was helpful. I pasted the writer's comments below: City Fight thoughts and experiences By Benny Christiansen, March 29, 2019 https://nodicenoglory.com/2019/03/29/city-fight-thoughts-and-experiences/ we found that due to having a very small area on the ground floor, it became extremely bloody during assaults, as any assault that got through, would take out the teams on ground floor first, and hope that the Counter Attack roll failed so the entire force in that room would die. Here, we learned an important lesson. The houses HAVE to be big. The teams can deploy on any floor. The forces deployed on the ground floor have to be chosen carefully, as they might die instantly. So if you, like us, do not have the BF houses meant for this, make sure your houses have large enough rooms. We found that the bigger tables (120*120 cm) were fun and playable. If you did not, however, primarily field infantry, it would be very time consuming to go where the action is with your vehicles. Fun is a relative term and as such, I encourage people to play with the smaller tables if you want to use tanks in the game. Roads in the city are limited to terrain dash, which makes sense, but it also means that city tables with a decent amount of terrain on it, will limit your mobility a lot. If you like it, as some of my guests did, larger tables allow for more maneuverability HMG platoon handles being shot at... I found them positively thrilling to use, pinning my opponent over and over and over again. Height and size of buildings matters a lot However, the size of the building changed the game dramatically. I find City Fight to be very intense and entertaining. The only downside seems to me, is that it was very much focused on getting the defensive fire down to a point where you could assault, and when you assault, usually, you obliterate the opponent. I wonder if that is the case in most situations?
