Hail and kill, Blood Bowl fans! This New Year's Eve we will be descending back into the dungeons of the Auld World, but this time for Dungeon Bowl Sevens! What does that mean?? It means you build a Sevens team, and you play in a dungeon! In the center of each dungeon will be a huge room, opening play up for all teams...it will be mayhem!

  • What: A three-game resurrection Dungeon Death Bowl Sevens tournament
  • When: 1/7/2023 10:30am
  • Where: Western Oregon Wargamers - 717 SE Main St Portland, Oregon
  • Why: Because Blood Bowl is fun!
  • How: $10, all proceeds go to the Ordo Blood Bowl League's pitch fund

The rules for Ordo Dungeon Death Bowl Sevens are as follows:

  • Team Build:
    • 650K Gold Crowns using standard Blood Bowl Sevens team creation rules, using all standard Blood Bowl teams or the Colleges of Magic
    • All Sevens inducements are allowed with the exception of Desperate Measures, Special Play Cards, and Mercenaries
    • You may allocate two chosen primary skills to two unique players
    • Ball and Chain players are not allowed
  • Format:
    • Standard Sevens rules are in play, with the exception of weather, and Kick-Off or when overridden by Dungeon Bowl (example, turns, passing and ball bounces)
    • Deployment and teleportation
      • Coaches begin with four players in their end zone
      • One player may be teleported from their Reserves box to the dungeon each turn per standard Dungeon Bowl rules
        • Alternatively, each coach may apply a Magic Sponge to restore a Knocked-Out player from the KO box to the Reserves box instead of teleporting in a player, per standard Dungeon Bowl rules
      • Game length: 1.5 hours, players play until the time limit has been reached
    • The dungeon:
      • Each dungeon will be pre-made prior to the event
      • Each dungeon will feature a Blitz Bowl pitch in the center
      • All obstacles and walls use standard Dungeon Bowl rules for determining Knock Down's
      • No special room rules will be in use
      • The ball will begin the game on the trap door in the center room
        • We are not using chests for New Year's Blitz
      • When a player scores, they are returned to their end zone, and the ball is 'bounced' out of the trap door before the next coach takes their turn
      • When in doubt, follow all rules for Dungeon Bowl regarding bouncing off walls and other areas not covered by these rules
    • Points
      • Win: 60pts
      • Draw: 20pts
      • Lost: 0pts
      • Score 2+ TD's: +15pts

  • Weav changed the title to *NEW DATE* 1/7/2023 New Year's Blitz - *Dungeon Bowl Sevens*

Who wants dungeons? Here are the first two dungeons for New Year’s Blitz! Round three’s dungeon will be posted shortly. Please note: there are no doors. All open spaces that touch are open and adjacent to each other. The obstacles printed on the center tile and all other tiles are live, a player may only be in a visible square, never on an obstacle.

Update: the four players that begin the game in the corresponding center tile ‘end zone’ not their own end zone.

Hey @Weav

I have a few questions about the format. (Some of the questions are edge cases, hopefully I don't come off as an ***.)

1. "Game length: 1.5 hours, players play until the time limit has been reached" Do we play as many turns as we can in the hour and a half time limit?

2. Is there established etiquette for how long someone can take a turn? (example: max 4 minutes)

3. Let's say I get bashed down to one or two players (or even zero players), what's to stop my opponent from scoring 19 TDs because I only need a few seconds for my turns? Can I twiddle my thumbs for two or three minutes even though my two remaining players are stunned and all I have to do is pass the turn?

4. On map one, it looks like there's a wall between the right corridor and the right side of the Blitz Bowl pitch. Meanwhile, the left side of the pitch, closest to the red end zone has the chaos altar next to it. It looks like there's some overlap on some of the tiles and the barest hint of a wall between the pitch and room. Are the squares in the chaos altar divided by a wall or adjacent to the squares on the blitz bow pitch?

5. Also, how do we work out the overlapped squares by the red end zone?

Despite my questions, this looks like it'll be an awesome format. I'm looking forward to throwing some dice in January. Thanks for organizing it and thanks for your time!

Great questions, thanks for asking them @Pitch_Dragon

1. "Game length: 1.5 hours, players play until the time limit has been reached" Do we play as many turns as we can in the hour and a half time limit? Yes

2. Is there established etiquette for how long someone can take a turn? (example: max 4 minutes) Yes, basically the same as it is now for Sevens. We expect people to play about 3-4 min turns

Fantastic question that I have not considered yet. I am glad you asked it. Let me chew on that.

I noticed that too after I posted. That side is open much like the opposite side of the Blitz Bowl room. We will need to use our imagination a little to accommodate the center field because the squares are not 100% the same size.

5. Also, how do we work out the overlapped squares by the red end zone? The same as your question in item four; there is no overlap, it's just the way the tiles landed. Treat them as separate squares.

@Pitch_Dragon, @kb10r brought up a good point on Discord tonight about your third question:

Let's asay I get bashed down to one or two players (or even zero players), what's to stop my opponent from scoring 19 TDs because I only need a few seconds for my turns? Can I twiddle my thumbs for two or three minutes even though my two remaining players are stunned and all I have to do is pass theturn? Since there is no benefit to scoring more than 2+ touchdowns, a ran up score or short turns has little to no impact on the game. We will just play to time as normal.
