  1. Oh oh me me! I have a Ultimaker 2+, using mostly PLA to build terrain, objectives, and other parts. Recently bought an Anycubic Photon Resin printer, first week was a nightmare getting things figured out but I finally think I have it. The Ultimaker is more for larger pieces and things that need to be tougher, the resin printer is for more bits like items that need to look good on a model. First two are a couple of resin prints. Others are PLA

  2. Attention, Guardsmen! We have excellent news. Following the discovery of an ancient genetic strain of a Terran war-beast, and extensive testing and regulatory processes,* we will shortly be providing your regiment with a very special new recruit. Known as a canid, this creature has been shown in ancient historical manuals to be superb for morale and have a wide variety of combat uses. Canids, like Abhumans, are to be treated according to different standards from how you would engage with a human trooper.** We have prepared a pamphlet in order to assist: Provide Po

I'm not talking about a grand jury. I'm talking about the Supreme Court. It was ruled that if a "reasonable man" has, at any point, regardless of any circumstance or context that lead to that moment, has cause for concern for their well-being or that of others, then the excessive force is justifiable. So when cops shoot a child with a toy gun in a park, they can justify it by saying they had no time to react. Does it matter that they drove off the street, onto the grass, and so close to the kid that they didn't give themselves time to react? No. Literally the ONLY thing that can be c

I don't know that any of that indicates a double standard so much as examples of bad police work gain much more attention than examples of good police work. I think the source of a lot of the frustration is the handling of bad police work. Police don't want their reputation smeared and will circle the wagons and defend bad cops and bad police work. The supreme court has already set a precedent of almost no accountability in excessive force instances and police know it, and are trained on what to say and do just in case they kill an innocent on the job. 99% of the time police are d

  6. Don’t recall the name of my opponent (my own fault, I’m terrible with names and should have written it down) but my Imperial Fists won much glory for their Primarch and Emperor when they stopped the foul Necrons from scuttling the shuttle we were fighting in. The Dice-Gods were in my corner, apparently, as I had a run of good dice rolls early on... Which began with my Intercessor Sniper taking his Deathmark Leader out of action with the very first shot of the match. It probably would have been a much closer run thing if the Dice-Gods hadn’t also blessed my Armor Saves. 12 VP for me,

    Camo marker Set-up?

I think for right now the camera method would probably be the best in till I have a better grasp on camo deployment... Almost wanted to use the different colored camo markers for the different units but then that's going to give away things like laying mines and such... I have something like 40 camo tokens 20 sheets of cardstock and another couple hundred acrylic button so I think I might create a complete camo set and dedicate a few with actual unit names underneath them... Thanks for the tips guys... about 8 games in... we're getting it

  14. Played with Jeff (Ninefingers, I think?) and lost horribly. Again, these Ordo dice hate me. Also, note to self: while the Blood God would certainly approve, charging my melee specialists forward turn one to get shot to bits before they can do anything is probably a bad idea. He had I believe two codes, I had one. We were both broken, but by the end of it, the last four guys I had on the board were too busy quivering with fear to do anything, and we called it at that point. Unless I'm mistaken, he had 10 VP (2 codes, 5 enemies out of action, and 3 for me being broken) and I had 7 (1 c

    Camo marker Set-up?

The more camo I had the more this was an issue. Eventually I started to model my own markers which were all slightly different, then before deployment I make a note of which is which. Use the numbers on the basic camo markers to do the same, or draw a symbol on each of them to denote some sort of difference. If you have more than 4 definitely write down what they are for your sake and your opponents.

    "2D Terrain"

Coming from the Warmachine side, where we use practically nothing but 2D terrain... It wins on clean play, cost, and convenience. It fails pretty hard on looks, though, and I've had more than a few games where a piece of terrain was misplayed because it was 2D - e.g., someone (me) planned out their turn forgetting that a LOS- and movement-blocking house was blocking their assassination run... The best compromise, IMO, is to have 3D terrain with 2D templates underneath, so that when models move into the terrain or you need to make careful measurements, you can remove the 3D piece and still

  17. Use the numbers on the camo tokens and note on your private list what number corresponds to what list elements. In a less formal setting, I don't typically take notes. As you get more experienced you'll get more familiar with your force and won't mis-deploy your camo. Of course this all varies based on meta. I don't typically make it to ordo so I don't know what's expected locally. Your camera method can work too. Honestly I can't remember ever being asked to wip out my camera and prove a hidden deployment, even at a tournament. If you need to win so bad you cheat you can have

    "2D Terrain"

I’ve always liked the way that terrain is handled by Saga; Terrain is all given specific states for height (high enough to block LOS or too low), cover (helps in shooting or helps in shooting and mΓͺlΓ©e), difficulty (no effect, slows movement, slows movement and might injure you, impassible), and finally size (small, up to 20 cm x 20 cm, or large, up to 30 cm x 30 cm). These stats all combine to define explicitly how a type of terrain works: All fields are small or large, low, uneven, light cover, for example. Doesn’t matter if it’s an Anglo-Saxon wheat field, an Iroquois corn field, or wh

I know it's "bad form" to pull up a post this old, especially when the only thing you're gonna add is Hackmaster is freaking awesome....but Hackmaster IS FREAKING AWESOME. Seriously. Buying the book as just an enjoyable read is 100% worthwhile.
