  1. I only had to download two of them, but I ended up getting all of them just because.
  2. Not sure what I want to start off with. My main army has always been Vampire Counts. But as they are legacy, might want to go with something else. I figure there might be a ton of TK players out there to start with, but I like that army too. Or I might just wait for my books to get here and then I can see which one appeals to me. Ugh...too many choices and they are all good.
  3. I went to the grand opening yesterday despite the cold. The store is right where Sandy crosses the 84, on the north side. They have a little bit of everything going on. The largest inventory seems to be board games, but they had a shelf for D&D and a smattering of GW stuff. They also have Magic The Gathering, dice, and gaming supplies. Inventory is a little sparse right now, but I'm sure they will settle in for whatever the locals are into. They have a nice coffee bar with some pastries and an area to enjoy them. Through the store they have good sized gaming area. The tables I saw were mostly fold out size, and I forgot to ask if they 6x4 table areas (or close enough for GW games). They will ask for a $5 gaming fee to use the space per person I believe, but one of the employees told me that the $5 then goes towards any purchase you make (coffee or games). The owner seemed to be very nice and this is a new endeavor for him. I can see the biggest issue for him being parking, as there just isn't much in that area. So try to carpool when possible. https://www.battlegroundsgamingcafe.com/ 3738 NE Sandy Blvd Portland OR 97232 phone 971-383-3775
  4. Wait a minute..where did 30mm bases suddenly come from? I thought all infantry are now on 25x25 and cav are 25x50....so what is this new 30mm base they are talking about??
  5. If the internet is any measure, I would say the sky is falling. But for myself, I haven't played in an official GW event in probably 20 years. I would expect any event that Ordo puts on would probably allow legacy armies as well. Why cut out a portion of the player population like that? Also, we don't even have the free lists yet...so no idea how competitive they are compared to the official lists. I also have faith that the community at large will fix the free lists if they are very lacking. They aren't official anyways and not allowed in events, so why not mess with them to make them better for the players? I think people just like to bitch, myself included...and I bitch at GW all the time. Hell, look at those prices for 15+ year old minis....sheesh. 🙂 But at least for the free armies, I'm going to hold off judgement until I see them, and how they stack up against official lists. If I can play my vampire counts and have a good chance of winning a game...that's all I care about.
  6. I'll consider WtoW a success if Raindog comes back. 😉 I would not get hopes up about the "Legacy" armies. So far GW has been pretty clear that they aren't going to be support in the future beyond the "get by" lists. Which is a shame. I don't understand why honestly....they picked the two armies that had the worst overall sales to relaunch the game, so why not support the others? No idea. How can they not have Vampire Counts...or even just Necromancer armies?? Fine, the vamps are off licking their wounds...but necromancers are still an issue. Gah...irritating. Will have to wait and see how good the legacy lists are. But by pairing down the number of armies, that could allow them room to introduce new ones like Tilea, Cathay or Kislev. They are willing to introduce new models to the game. So releasing a total new army seems possible. Just have to wait and see.
  7. See my link above for shogunminis. I don't intend to rebase at all, what a pain in the ass that will be. I magnetize my bases so I'm just going to order trays for 25mm bases and put my dudes on them. They'll just have extra space between (which for some armies will make it easier for them to line up). I have seen some interesting trays with 20mm slots in them. If I can find STLs for those, they might be nice to print out too to sit atop a metal tray. I've got my books and such on pre-order and now just waiting for them to come in. I also promised my wife I am not buying any more minis for the rest of the year. If I need something, I'll print it or do a real trade for it (while cash for minis is technically a trade, it doesn't fit within the spirit of the promise 😉 ) Overall though, really excited about playing warhammer fantasy battle again. I know I could have been playing older rules or 9th age, but honestly, I didn't like the direction that 8th took the game. I mean some of the units were very cool and great models...but the overall design of the game was geared towards people buying more minis...not being a great game. I've gotten my hopes up that this is a return to something akin to 6th edition which I absolutely loved.
  8. Nice! I like KoW fairly well....not sure I agree with the monster infantry base rules..but otherwise, solid game.
  9. That retro dread is awesome...gotta get me that stl.
  10. http://shogunminiatures.com/index.html Wanted to put this out there. I will be going this route. They make wonderful simple metal movement trays (I get the flanged). I will be buying a bunch of 25mm sized trays now for all of my 20mm units. No need to rebase everything since I magnetize my bases. Just toss down a quick coat whatever color blends with your unit's bases and you are good to go. I haven't bought from them in years so I hope they are still in business.
  11. oh, I'm a long time WFB player, I currently have full armies for high elves, wood elves, dark elves, orcs, goblins, vampire counts, empire and dwarfs. I traded or sold my beastmen, lizardmen, and tomb kings. I had a smattering of chaos at one point for AoS because the models were so cool, but traded those in to MM. So we can definitely play.
  12. hmmmm I'm torn. On the one hand, all I really need are the books. I have existing armies, and while I don't have much in the way of TK, I do own stl's for an entire TK themed army. So now I have to have an internal conflict between the collector in me and the hobbyist. The new TK box would give me official TK models in case I ever wanted to use them in an official event (weak) but it would also go towards my collection (moderate) vs paying a significant amount of money for models when I can simply print what I need and have already incurred that cost (strong). Ugh.
  13. I think some of the sets being released after the big box drops are metals...probably the grail knights and ushabti...etc. But the big box drops I think are all plastic. 🙂
  14. I thought I saw $290 for the TK box, and definitely not all metal models. take away $40 for the rulebook, that's $250 for 91 models. Under $3 a model for GW is fairly unheard of nowadays, so kudos to them. With online discount pushing it to around $2.25 a model.... again though, for the vast majority of models, old sculpts that didn't change a lick. So barely any cost to GW for them. But you are right. I actually have an entire STL library for desert skeleton army. And is it really worth playing $40-60 for an giant bloated book with rules from previous editions? probably not. I'm sure all of the publications will make their way to the dark web soon enough 😉
  15. I might get the TK box just because I don't have a lot of the base tk units anymore...I have a few special units left over from end times. So if its not crazy with pricing, I will probably pick that up.
  16. Just curious because I have collected some various AoS stuff here and there because I thought the models were cool. I don't play AoS though and probably won't (despite having a few armies worth of models). I wonder if some of the new units will make it into the old world rules for use.
  17. The new army boxes look really nice. That TK one has 93 guys in it. Spikey bits did a cost analysis on this and valued it over $700 by GW's current pricing trends. I don't think they will sell for less than $500. Thinking back to the battalion box for TK which started at $75 for 51 models....why oh why did I ever get rid of my TK? 😞
  18. Mindtaker I believe can order stuff. I know they have some TY there. Geeks and Games is probably the store I know that has the most in stock TY. I'm not sure how active that community is over there, but the owner really likes the game and made sure to have FoW and TY on hand. EDIT: FoW store locator only pinged Geeks and Games as well for Oregon. Washington has a few more: Dice Age Games Game WIzard and Blue Sky Hobbies Olympic Cards & Books PLAYlive Union Gap The Game Matrix Wizard's Keep Games WA
  19. so just wondering if anything new has popped up in the last few years for model stripping. I have two large nid models that I need to strip and I've been soaking one in krud kutter for a few days, but it is barely doing anything. I just ordered some simple green and will try that next. But thought I'd ask if anything else might be good to use.
  20. I'm going to focus on the typical 40K models for this as I like how most of those look.
  21. okay, so I got my copies (hush ando). and I have to say, I'm a little disappointed from the aspect of sheer amount of plastic. This is after owning leviathan and there is no comparison. I'm a bit surprised there was no terrain of any sort. I knew there wasn't going to be...but after opening the box and seeing how much space was left and such....a bit underwhelmed. GW is really raking in the cash here on this box for what they are pushing out. Also, I've got lots of bits that have broken off the sprues so far. Not cool.
  22. I found the box set for $170 which isn't bad. I will have an extra rulebook if anyone is interested. 😳
  23. On the lookout for STLs for new epic HHIL. Thought maybe we could share links. If not a great idea, feel free to lock the thread.
  24. I started watching the battlereport they have on warhammertv, and the game seems really simple. But honestly, its been so long since I played any epic, I couldn't compare them. The models do look great. I really like the 8mm size due to how much detail they are able to bring out. Man, its amazing how strong nostalgia is. I can hold on to a bunch of old models with a slim chance to ever use them, or I could use them to pay for the new game which is, in my opinion, way over priced, but will probably have a better chance to play it. #1stworldproblems
