I play as much as I can, and we have a local group that meets up every Sunday with anywhere from 4-10 players - but it is probably a much longer drive than you are looking to make lol!

I may have to give this 9th Age another good, hard look. I do miss my Fantasy games and bros. AoS' continuing evolution is making it more palatable, but I still don't think I can bring myself to step into that pile quite yet........

FFG has announced that the store championship applications for the 2016 season are due by October 16, 2015. That's only 2 weeks from today, so if you'd like your FLGS to be a host for one of these events I'd recommend making sure they've seen the news on the FFG website.

Those are viable choices for sure, but Veteran Instincts is a probably one of your better choices as it bumps you to pilot skill 8. Depending on your meta, of course.

Up to you. There are other good ones, but Predator is useful here as well. The card says "may", so you don't have to reroll if you don't want. You could just take the hits you roll and try to draw an enemy evade token. They have to roll their green dice so if they cancel your hits use the reroll from the pilot ability. If your enemy has only one agility you may wish to reroll regardless as they won't be able to stop them all. I'd say leave it and see how it works out for you.

I'd swap D for B, for a number of reasons: IG-88 B is the popular choice for the built in Gunner-like ability, but you get that a little from Predator. I think B is a better choice than D in general as you get a great ability (with Predator rerolls on both shots BTW) without the drawback of taking Stress. Stress is the enemy of many ships - IGs are certainly high on that list. The Stress is going to mess up your action economy gained from C. There may be a time or two where you will wish you could do your S-loop with the turn instead of bank, but my money is on the fact that the second attacks will pay off a lot more than the maneuver (assuming you fly halfway decent anyway). Ion isn't too big a deal as it takes 2 Ion tokens to cause ionization on a big based ship. Unless, of course, your local meta is prolific with Ion. If that's the case focus fire down the Ion ships one at a time as soon as you can. Likely you will have the PS advantage there and hopefully won't have to worry about it too much for more than a turn or two. Other than that it looks like fun! FCS is money as that gravy train just keeps on rolling and Manglers are also good. Remember that Autothrusters only work out of arc and/or at range 3, so keep your distance a bit. Boosting will help with this as well as help keep targets in your arc. And it's also useful to run if you have too lol.

The YT-1300 (MFalcon) actually comes with 2 and, until the YV-666 (Hound's Tooth), was the only ship that had them.

Engine upgrades (for the boost action) is universally useful - even more so on big base ships (especially slow ones).

Funny thing is, as I was driving to work this morning, the thought of using space marine for sigmarines was running thru my mind lol.

Those bags are indeed awesome. I won one a few years ago and have used it for every event I've been to since. I too highly recommend it - get one if you can.

If you have access to one I'd recommend using a scroll saw. It's for finer wood working and the blades are small.

Well done indeed, but I think you mean fav opponent (?). We were a little disappointed DMBz: Nut Punch! didn't repeat and defend our Marshall Johnson award. Not enough to refuse Overall mind you, but the Sportsmanship award is the one we were going for. Not that 5th in sports is bad. Congrats all around to everyone for a great event and outstanding weekend!

Agreed on all points! Everyone was great and the event well run. Picking a favorite opponent is always a very difficult decision for sure. And the venue was nice as well. I wanted to just lie down on the floor because the carpets were so soft. Outstanding job, one and all!

My hope is, as is many others, that this is not '9E' and is a noob hook. I'm afraid that if this is indeed the new/next edition of WHFB then I'm out. There are too many other great games out there to be saddled with this farce.
