  1. Sweet! Can't wait to see more.
  2. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JUQDzj6R3p4
  3. Can't talk. Need purple flowers. Go away.
  4. I miss my warhammer like a lover lost at sea. But I'm in the same boat. I can host in beaverton pretty much any night at around 8 if anyone wants to put together a west side event. Other than that I'm probably out of the picture.
  5. Oh neat. I missed that. See you guys there.
  6. I know I've been out of the loop for ages but I finally have a tuesday evening off. Is there still a game night thing?
  7. +1 for airbrush paint. Especially if you actually get a nice one that you want to last for years.
  8. The first thing I do is assemble the army and arrange the army how I want them to end up on the finished board. Then mark out the footprints of all the bases and move trays. It saves a lot of time to commit to this first rather than having to make changes later so everything fits. Once you know where the troops are going to be you know how much room you need to fill with other elements. Next thing to consider is materials. I find that keeping things as light as possible is best. Mainly because the heavier your board is the more likely it is to break. I like posterboard and insulation foam for the main structure. But anything that is very lightweight should work well. You can do beautiful work with metal, wood and plaster but I find that they lead to many chips and scratches over time.
  9. Lots of great throwback models. I think they would be especially neat alongside some zoats in a lizardmen force.
  10. Awesome. Thank you. I'm hunting for japanese themed structures. Kensei makes some nice stuff but its spendy (I'll probably get it anyway) Others that I've found are hard to evaluate due to limited images. Any other help is greatly appreciated!
  11. I find that a tripod doesn't make that huge of a difference unless your camera is pretty fancy to begin with. The real difference, for me is: 1. Macro setting or if your camera doesn't have that the little flower symbol. 2. Two daylight bulbs 3. Free photo editor to fix white balance: http://www.gimp.org/
  12. Remember those particle board kits we used to make houses for ofcc a few years back? Anyone got a link for their source? I've found a few places but was hoping there was a domestic distributor since overseas shipping is like two months. Thanks!
  13. God Emperor Of Dune was probably the book got me to start reading philosophy.
  14. I've only played a little but there are some things I find pretty hilarious about this game. I love that you can get necklaces and rings and whatnot that give your opponents bonuses instead of yourself.
  15. I'm curious to ask owners of xbox1 or ps4 whether they are generally satisfied with their purchase? As a retailer of video games our store has chosen not to carry these systems but that might change. My own experience briefly: -I played games on these systems but could honestly not tell the difference in terms of graphics or sound or frame rate or anything else from the previous version. -Upon examining the hardware specs it looks like they are, in fact very similar. Producing essentially the same video and audio output. -The differences I did notice seemed fairly trivial. Like changes to the interface or the controller or having motion control built in rather than as a peripheral. Nothing seemed especially 'next generation'. -A number of things actually seemed worse. Particularly the general move away from any sort backwards compatibility. -The cost is about what I would have expected given inflation and the general state of the market but its a pretty big investment for a working person and hard for me to justify given that I'm not noticing any great features. So what am I missing? What's great about these systems? Should I carry them for my customers?
  16. Looks like a fun army to build. Are those the wargames factory models?
  17. The title of this thread makes me think of an Andy Warhol film for some reason.
  18. The key to most of the advanced techniques like light sourcing, non metal metal, filigree and whatnot is just to find that point where your paint is as thin as it can possibly before the liquid separates from the pigment. As far as glowing effects my best results come from painting backwards. Or, if you like additively. Starting with white primer wash on a thin yellow-white followed by a yellow followed by a yellow orange and so forth until its however dark you need it to be. The more layers you incorporate the better final result tends to be.
  19. The tiers are interesting but I'm way more intrigued by the notion of bases that fit together to form an ancient pavilion. Especially if you used some colors suggestive of painted terra cotta so that that the whole flat surface hung together as a single image. And more especially if the center was a large regiment or monster base. Either way, super concept.
  20. We bought some of the ikea cases. There is indeed a spot where you can put a light.
