  1. Sparrow and I will be picking up Westy off the boat. My 40K stuff is all at Fluger's already. Spaghetti sounds hecka good!
  2. Just got out to Card Kingdom today and picked up the book. (painting/modeling related) Initial impressions: Pleasantly surprised to find out that Squadrons of attack bikes are back in the dex, but that just makes modeling the other 9 I have a priority, and a huge PITA as they are HEAVily converted, and quite fiddly. Glad to see that my heavily converted command squad and company veterans squads are back to being interchangeable. Under the old dex I had to lump two of my favorite minis into the command squad, as they were the only power armored marines that could take TH/SS. (I know this pleases Fluger, as it means I have 2 squads I can play Shaft in) My wallet is going to hurt when I end up buying multiple devastator squads for the Grav weapons for my Devastators. I wish they'd bring back giving every servitor a plasma cannon, my matchstick men are bummed they have to fight in 2 groups. I also have to paint another techmarine, and more servo arm servitors. I have a LOT of Deathwing to paint. something like 11 knights, 15 terminators, 6 dreadnoughts, and at least 1 Landraider. Likewise for the Ravenwing. Luckily, if I minmax my marine squads, I can run a battle company and get free transports. But again, my wallet will hurt picking up the extra drop pods and a few rhinos. Everytime they give me a new awesome book, my goal of painting the collection gets further away. These recent moves don't make it any easier, either. All in all, though, I'm excited to get back to the work of painting, and the fun of pulling my dead guys off the table.
  3. Once again, Much thanks to Fluger for the couch & game action. It was great to play 7e by the numbers, and Fluger gave great tactical advice that allowed me to at least get a victory point or two, so it wasn't a complete shutout. I'm now back in Seattle proper, and although I don't have a place as of yet, I'm working on it. Hit up Card Kingdom today and picked up my new codex.
  4. Great news from Fluger! It's handled! Thankyou, Fluger! Now to load the trailer!
  5. Ok, it's happening. I'll be in Seattle Thursday, 7/9. I've hit a snag, though. My friend I was originally planning on staying with (2 days, while I find a place of my own) can't do it. I'm in desperate need of a couch or some carpet to lie flat on, for this coming Thursday. If anyone knows of a spot, please, let me know, I will be much in your debt.
  6. Thanks, Guys. I will look into those neighborhoods. If anyone knows of a good place for rent, please don't hesitate to PM me or post it here. I'm open to options.
  7. I phone interviewed with the President of the company, and got the job. I'm waiting for the official offer, but I WILL be relocating to Seattle within the next 2 weeks. Looking for places in the Renton, White Center, West Seattle, type areas. I'm Super Excited to be returning to the area, and have never been so stoked about a job, EVER. I'm looking forward to getting many good games in, in the Very Near future.
  8. SO, I have a job lead. SODO area of Seattle. It will require relocation from Las Vegas. Looking for recommendations on areas to move to. Rent budget will be about 1K a month. Looking for a 1 Bedroom, for a period of 6 months to 1 year, as my family (Sister, Brother-in-Law, Nephew and eventually my Mom) will be relocating back to Seattle soon-ish. Also need the heads-up on where I can play 40K, and of course, pick up the vital necessities of codexs and such in the Seattle area. Thanks in advance!
  9. I noticed that too! Now all those metal 2e marines I traded you for will have to get painted...
  10. I convert, paint, and compose army lists based on the WLK (What Looks Kewl) principle. Two of my Ravenwing bikers are modeled with a Crowbar or Tire Iron, with more "Improvised" power weapons WIP. That said, I when I build army lists I try to at least take units that can take the appropriate modeled wargear (like putting the two custom TH/SS power armored marines in the command squad.) In friendly games I've found every single one of my opponents has been ok with my "couts as" playtesting of a unit. I make a serious effort when OFCCs roll around to be excessively accurate about what's on a miniature, though. But personally, with the cost of codex books being what they are I can't afford to buy the book just to know what my opponent's weapons look like. As long as you're consistent throughout the game about what's on it, it's cool with me.
  11. Ok. I'll just leave the bolt pistol on, then. Thanks for the replies. It was bugging me, and the squad is on the paint desk.
  12. Mods: I'm posting this here, as it's both a modeling and a rules question. If it's in the wrong forum, please accept my apologies, and feel free to move it to Artificier's Forge. A long time ago, I modeled this arm for my custom converted Apothecary. Originally, his left arm was designed with a bolt pistol, but the codex states that the Narthecium replaces the bolt pistol. Since it was a major PITA to convert, I don't want to swap out the right arm. Do any of you rules savvy Ordos have a suggestion for the left arm? I don't really want to try and keep track of the one guy in the unit who isn't WYSIWYG, as I know I'll end up remembering halfway through the game that he doesn't have it. I'm open to suggestions, but prefer them to be rules-legal. Thanks!
  13. Well, there goes more of my money.
  14. I went up there and checked it out before I moved. It's not in as good a shape as the ad claims. We had to chase some Jawas out of one of the engine compartments, someone had jacked the steering wheel, and the galley was a mess (remember the hotel pan from Chef? Yeah, like that, but worse.) All in all, if I had more time on my hands to fix it up it might have worked out.
  15. I live in Vegas now, where there is a gunshop on every corner. My brother-in-law and I also happen to collect guns (although of a newer variety than what you're into.) If you need parts for anything, let me know, I'd be happy to check local shops for you when I'm in there.
  16. The Rhino Primaris looks like the Damocles Command Rhino from ForgeWorld, except more... not my style.
  17. I'm looking for 40K scale tools, similar to the wrenches that grot riggers used to hold. I thought about using Lego tools, but they're too big. I have cash, plenty of Marine bitz, and some IG bitz to trade. I'm in Las Vegas, but don't mind shipping first.
  18. That's right, Buddy. I even called Avatar to make sure that they have table space for us to throw down. I would way rather see GW make new rulesets available every month and hit every faction in a given edition, than to see them go back to the snail's pace release schedule of 5th edition. I like that more people are saying things to the effect of "Play what you think is cool" and "Be prepared to explain your special rules." I like to see 40K getting back to what I consider it to be at it's core: a fun activity with another person. I think that people took the competitive side waaay too seriously for waaay too long (which is not me bagging on competitive players, at all.) Winning is great, (and the feeling one gets from winning a game is awesome,) but I have strived over the past 16 years of playing this game to have as much fun losing as I do winning. Got some wacky psychic power that lets you take over my unit and shoot me with it (Khan)? Go for it. Serves me right for thinking 4 Plasma Cannons in a squad was a good idea (Which It IS, I'm tellin' Ya.) Deepstriking an assault squad? Yup, BTDTGTTSAWDIA*, the squad earns a nickname that lasts longer than a codex's life span (ask Westrider about the Meteor Men bouncing off his Valkyrie). Got an 888 point Khorn8 biker squad you want to run me over with (Skkipper)? I'm down, just make sure the tire marks go horizontally. Point is, I'm never going to know all the rules for this game. The best I can expect is to bring my best game, die with honor, and make sure my opponent has a good time. This message brought to you by Shiner Bock and the Number 6 (Pack) *Been There, Done That, Got The TShirt, And Will Do It Again
  19. There are 2 stores that are closer to me than my old one. Power 9 Games is about ten miles away, but it is straight out one of the minor thoroughfares from me. Avatar Comics and Games is closer, and right down the street from my gym. Power 9 has a larger place to play, it's literally a warehouse. Avatar is a smaller comic shop, but seems to have better selection. Power 9 has actual 40K nights (Mondays), whereas the owner of Avatar said that all his customers went to Power 9 when it opened, so he doesn't have regular 40K nights. There is supposed to be a 40K Facebook group down here, but when I search for it, it doesn't come up in my results.
  20. Greetings, Ordites and Ordettes, it's once again Time for my bi-decade update. From the wilds of Northern California to Sin City, big changes have happened in the past year. I moved from Mendocino County, California to Las Vegas, Nevada. Now that my closest game ISN'T an hour or more away, I've started delving back into 40K, making my presence known at my two local spots, and getting the barest of low-downs. Apparently, while I was in my self-imposed exile, GW went and released another new version. (7? SEVEN?! How could they? Oh, right. Money.) At least my hardback Dark Angels codex is still legal, apparently. I'm busy burning through this fancy new rulebook, I'm currently up to page 48. At this rate I might get to the USRs by the time OFCC rolls around. I hope to make it, but as I am currently unemployed, we'll just have to see. I'm hoping to get my first game of 7th in on this coming monday, that gives me just under a week to get a basic idea of the rules. Other than that, I'm just spending time painting the aforementioned Dork Angels, I've almost finished up the Devastator squad that didn't make it for 2013 (don't judge me, leave that for The Emporer.) I hope to see you all in July.
  21. I think it was a Dremel or similar with high speed cutting tips like the 100, 117, 124, and 125. I've used them to bore out space marine torsos that have had necks broken off in them, amongst other things.
  22. You could build it out of empty Pabst Blue Ribbon boxes, like paper art. A couple 12 packs broken down would get you enough to cut out details to add. You can draw it on the cardboard side, and keep the logo side facing out. You wouldn't even need to paint it.
