  1. Hey folks! I know, it has been a while since I have been there. Lots of busy RL stuff. That said, I have been developing a card game. I was wondering if Ordo folks want to help playtest it this Tuesday (5/23) at game night. It is a Cooperative Lovecraftian Deckbuilder. The players play as Elders in a cult attempting to summon/awaken a Great Old One. The forces of Arkham, controlled by the game, will deploy to try to thwart the players. It plays 1-6 players. I need additional playtesting for the 'intro'/short-game scenario (the long scenario has been pretty well playtested already). So far, games have taken anywhere from 45 min to 75 min with 3-4 players (although more players means a longer game, obviously). Note: Currently fully-coop, but with plans for semi-coop and '1 vs many' expansions in the future, for those interested in that sort of play. Are people interested in trying it out and are able to attend this coming Tues night? I could do a different game night (or an additional game night) if there is enough interest. - Derek / Dvang
  2. Hey guys! I'm considering stopping by. Not sure if I'll play, but I do have a bunch of Tyranid BFG models for a Tyranid fleet if there is any interest. If there is, I might consider playing or I could loan it to someone. Its fine if there isn't, though.
  3. My wife likes the app because while I am running around killing stuff, she can be checking our quests and looking at our inventory. For example, if I loot something, I don't have to stop doing stuff. She can use the app to see how it compares to what we currently have equipped, etc.
  4. My copy of Zombicide Black Plague (Core Set) arrived just before Christmas, and I have been able to get a few games in. In a nutshell, it is a significantly improved version of Zombicide with a fun re-theme. Much is similar, but there are also some key differences. Notably armor and necromancers, but there are a few more (like only hitting friendlies on misses). Lots of fun, and I think I like it more than the original Zombicide.
  5. My wife and I are taking our time to finish the game. We are level 74 and have just gotten to the Institute. I wish we could have more dialogue to tell the Institute how wrong their policies are. [sigh]. Ah well. I am looking forward to doing a second playthrough. I plan on trying to play as Grognak the Barbarian. Our current build is a stealth sniper (as usual), so going total stupid melee will be a much different experience.
  6. If only you could be the General of the Minutemen in more than just name. Who knew being the Minuteman General equated to actually being their errand boy/girl who runs around killing random enemies and rescuing settlers who get themselves kidnapped over and over again (I'm looking at you Abernathy women!)
  7. @PAXMILES: The Brotherhood has never really been what you would call "good". They are simply the 'lesser evil'. They are certainly better than Supermutants, raiders, and the Institute. The do have a code, and for the common settler they do provide protection, when it supports the Brotherhood, or leaves them alone. Of course, the common settler has no reason to get on the Brotherhood's 'bad side', being human and without advanced technology. In FO3 the BOS seemed 'better', because that chapter actually "splintered" from the main theology and provided much more humanitarian assistance to the locals. They also got censured by the main faction. If you get on the Prydwyn and read some of the terminals about Elder Maxson, you see reference to Elder Lyons and the splintering. Fallout is not about a 'good' vs 'bad' scenario. In fact, in FO3, New Vegas, and FO4, none of them had a 'good' side. It was simply the side that was 'least bad' that you get to choose. So far, it is similar in FO4. About the only 'good' faction is possibly the Minutemen, as they are completely reorganized and implemented by the PC. That said, the Minutemen had become corrupt at one point, and theres no telling if they will get corrupt again. This is one of the RP points that my wife and I dislike about the Bethesda versions of Fallout. In FO1 and FO2 you were a hero on an epic and heroic quest, first to save your entire vault and then to save your entire village, and in the process you end up saving humanity from a great evil. In FO3 your motive is "find my dad", which then transitions (potentially) into "make clean water for the Captial Wasteland" (which is somewhat noble I guess. It does help a bunch of people). In New Vegas, your motivation is "find the guy who shot me", and then "choose who controls the Hoover Dam and therefore runs New Vegas". Completely unheroic (and thus, IMO, the worst plotline in the series). In FO4 you still have a selfish motivation, "find who took my kidnapped son", although it portrayed as less 'selfish' because it involves your child. Anyway, none of Bethesda's Fallout plotlines have really involved good vs evil. There is no good side. In their Fallouts, the question is either to choose the least evil faction, or be selfish and choose what gives your character the most power.
  8. Depending on the date, I've got my Dutch.
  9. Minor 'spoiler' below ... To start the quest silver Shroud Quest:
  10. Re: Power Armor. * I can confirm that if you remove the power core from unused suits of power armor, NPCs do not get into them. * You can buy additional/new Power Armor Frames from KLEO in Goodneighbor. They cost around 5000 caps each. She restocks the frame all the time, if you got the cash. * I have heard from someone I know, but have not verified personally, that if an NPC takes your power armor, you can pickpocket the power core off them and they will exit the suit. Note that I said pickpocket, not trade. I personally think that FO4 is better than FO3 and New Vegas (although not by a large margin). Personally, I didn't particularly care for the New Vegas main quest line. I am having a lot of fun with the FO4 quest lines. For example, the Silver Shroud quest line is a riot.
  11. No, its not. There is no requirement to do settlement building at all, although you will probably find it useful to do a little bit at least in one location. There is a 'main' quest early on that is basically a quick tutorial on settlement building when you get access to your first settlement. A lot of side quests get you additional settlements or areas to settle, some of which start in a deficit (of food/water/beds/defense). That said, you do get pretty good xp for crafting stuff, and can easily make a few levels modifying weapons/armor and building a few things in settlements to get them going. You don't have to do anything fancy for them, unless you are striving to make their happiness really high.
  12. Yes, orange (exotic) and then red (legendary?) If you do runs on Hard, you should usually have an orange (sometimes 2) as the top prize you can roll. Nightmare difficulty shifts the loot chart so there are a couple orange and sometimes a red as the top prize.
  13. I have been playing this since the pre-order Beta (a week before the launch). It has a lot of similarities with L4D (which to me is a good thing). It is heavily dependent on melee, with each character able to do both melee and ranged (you carry 1 of each weapon). However, melee blocking and pushing is an important part of succeeding at the higher levels, and ranged does have significant ammo limits (barring the bright wizard, who has to manage her heat level). You can play solo or with less than 4 players. Whichever hero is not filled with a human is an AI bot. They are better than L4D bots, but still no match for most human players. That said, they work fine for the lower difficulties if you dont want to play with anyone else. You could play the game entirely by yourself with bots on lower difficulties if you really wanted. You get lower tier items, so it will take you longer to 'build up' your heroes. Loot can be a bit frustrating in its randomness. For example, I don't play the elf ... and I've rolled and gotten 4 legendary bows for her so far. Useless for me, and there is no trading (which is probably good). However, for every tier of item (other than legendary) you can either break it down to unlock special traits on other items, or fuse 5 of the same tier and create a random item a tier higher. Rumor also has it that sometime in the near future you will be able to 'sell' or otherwise utilize/exchange legendary items and trinket items (which you currently cannot do anything with except wear up to 3). I'm having a lot of fun, although it can be frustrating if you end up in a group with morons. Its also hard to tell newbies/morons, as level does not necessarily equal experience or ability.
  14. Its now in pre-release Beta (anyone who pre-orders gets to play). Is anyone else playing this awesome co-op game? I need some solid teammates, there is a lot of stupid people out there ... It runs through Steam. As usual, you can find me under "dvang", and I've got a yellowish colored image from Fallout. Contact me if you are playing or plan to play.
