  1. While I agree with Matt here, how is this new? GW has *never* managed to write clean rules and at least now with PDFs at least some of those 4 locations are hyperlinked together so they are easier to find...
  2. Ah, ok... I think I saw those titles but did not grok the scope included. I'll have to hunt them up and take a look.
  3. Given that we have core rules, do we have army information (not just shiny pictures of models but actual army books or pdfs) for anything yet?
  4. I moved overseas for a while and downsized all my minis then. For me the legacy lists are more about playstyles that I like than about armies I already have. Further, I don't expext to do anything offical with GW which means I will focus on hobby and not lining their pockets for minis. We'll see what comes.
  5. Ok, I need a link for that. I didn't realize they were releasing real information until very recently and I have failed to navigate the twisty maze of passages which all look alike at warhammer-community.com to find anything useful.
  6. First, a reminder that I am in Pittsburgh so splitting boxes is possible but requires additional shipping. 🙂 Second, I am also posting on Discord if it is more convenient to answer there. I've got a local contact who can print things for me if I get .stl files so that is an option here although he does not want to get into printing infantry or battle armor/elementals (see below). Links to reliable STLs or shops selling physical items are fine. I'm joining a campaign with some local guys where I will be playing Jihad-era Capellans (Specifically House Kamata). We've got various scenarios available so there are reasons to have hands, ECM and BAP for sure. Individual battles will be agreed BV from the pre-defined OoB purchased from the Faction list (at Master Unit List). (My starting OoB is set but feel free to kibitz on that if you want since I can earn and spend requisition later.) I lack any source for the following models: Cerberus MR-5M Hunchback HBK-4P (really) Raven RVN-4L Firestarter FS9-S Duan Gung D9-G10 Trinity Medium Battle Armor (Ying Long-Plasma) 1 squad Anti-Mech Jump Infantry 1 platoon (maybe split into 3 squads at some point so two sets of models?) Foot Platoon (Rifle) 1 platoon (maybe split into 4 squads so extra models?) Foot Platoon (Flamer) 1 platoon (maybe split into 4 squads?) In addition I already have STL files for the following (but feel free to suggest STLs for comparison): Devastator DVS-2 Thor (X) (I can use all my faction variants of these two omnis but only have one chassis to field at any time) Fenris (X) Stalker STK-5M Yu Huang Y-H10G Lao Hu LHU-3L Dervish DV-6Mr Cataphract CTF-4L Catapult CPLT-C4C Flea FLE-20 Ripper Infantry Transport (VTOL)
  7. I just wish it had better co-op support. Coming to play for you is a pretty boring proposition for any other pilot because they can't get any skills, can't get any salvage (or other rewards) and can't even bring their own mechs. They basically become a glorified AI for you. It's also worth noting that as sad as it is, MW5 teaches you nothing but bad habits for MWO. They are fundamentally different games with different base code and so hit-reg and everything is completely different and as a result the skills that benefit you in MW5 hurt you in MWO. This is very unfortunate if you want to jump back and forth to get your fix at any given time. That said, I agree with the rest of the review. Great game if you are not worried about co-op or retaining skills for MWO.
  8. I found a primer on the new skill tree (well, the first iteration of it which is enough)... The key was finding the HSP (which are not displayed anywhere until you go into the Add SP menus)... I had *lots* of chassis mastered... The 91 points for each of them will be *huge* when I go to put skills in place. Now I just have to find out what all the skills do and remember how I liked to play certain chassis. Still thinking a dunny account to go through the modern tutorials may be a good idea, especially while I am trying to remember controls.
  9. I reinstalled and looked to confirm that I still had an active account. I am Rakashan. Looks like I still have most of my mechs although I was notified of a lot of changes when I started things up and clearly there have been changes (like all my Spiders were swapped out maybe for Arctic Cheetahs?). Where should I go look for the "how to play" now and is it worth maybe making a new account to get the new tutorials and primers?
  10. The main reason I quit playing was that the guys who played with the PGI staff directly were caught using aimbots (actual posted audio and video of) and were not punished. Is the game still all client-side and easily hacked? The other main question is whether or not the balance pass did anything to fix clan balance (since they never managed the concept of a star vs an inner-sphere lance).
  11. Would probably help if you could list specific certs you want... (Unclear from context if you are looking for hospice or childcare or something else, at least to me...)
  12. Just sayin'. That argument would work better if the majority of the footage was not from before 1978. All it's really succeeding in doing is demonstrating that StarWars was unoriginal or at least stole so many of its tropes from prior films.
  13. @Justjokin And sometimes it is trolling the photo thread with broken links?
  14. This is the way it forces you to build balanced characters but gives you enough points to still build a well-rounded character. You can take a power to blast people at range with ice... You will either be powerful or good. You could be both by spending more points but that would violate the limits. That's what the PL limits do. They create a limit on each power or facet of the character so that people don't corner to hard for the power level of the campaign.... You can be hard to hit or tough to damage. You can be accurate (hit easily) or hit hard. You can be mentally tough or physically tough. As long as the PL is defined you can give players points for more powers and tricks without being concerned that someone will corner into a deathblow that hits on a 2. Keeping that in mind, does PL (and the things it pairs) make more sense?
  15. Really enjoyed the first one. Thought this announcement was worth a mention here.
  16. For years they been sayin' don't accept cookies on Halloween. Now you know why.
  17. It's hard to get everywhere. Newegg killed local. And I strongly recommend Newegg over Amazon.
  18. When I worked theaters my boss had a framed copy above his desk... (Being a manager he grabbed the one in his theater the day Lucas changed the name.)
  19. * Sniper Elite is a good multiplayer but it's a shooter. * V Rising is a good multiplayer with some similarity to Valheim but two notes... 1) difficulty scales with # of combatants in a fight, 2) eventually it hits a skill-required wall. * Left 4 Dead 2 is still one of the best "drop-in" group friendly games out there but is a fairly forgiving shooter framework * Payday 2 is in the same list (also a shooter but might suit your style if you stay quiet) * I have not tried Back 4 Blood but it is the same devs who did Left 4 Dead * Deep Rock Galactic is a pretty solid option for "drop-in" grouping but does have some shooter elements to it (again, fairly forgiving) * Ark, of course, for drop-in group play survival is excellent * GTFO is good for drop-in but is a heavier shooter * Phantasmagoria is passable without leveling and no real shooting (although you may find less replayability) * Solasta is everything you want with one catch... The 4-man party is always there... Someone does not show up the character is still there and someone else runs them so they never fall behind and they miss story.
  20. There are many types of authors in the world, but with relevance to this conversation I think of two main categories... Those who write with the intent of making you think of their point of view and those that just write to make you think. I find that, to my chagrin, I tend to fall into the first category (one reason I avoid the Realm of Chaos) while I have much more respect for the latter. If a writer has truly done their job then their work can reach you with the message you need when you read it which may mean that it brings a different message each time you read it and that is not a bad thing, particularly if you can understand why you saw the old message then and the new message now. Personally, I have been rereading and exploring related authors or new books on the edges of that content... Azimov's Foundation series Villains By Necessity, Eve Forward Kelly McCullough's Fallen Blade series The original Dragonlance trilogy Sergei Lukyanenko's Night Watch series Brandon Sanderson's Mistborn trilogy Daniel O'Malley's The Rook and Stiletto Hench: A Novel, by Natalie Zina Walschots Benedict Jacka's Alex Verus series
  21. I just wanna know context... When the heck were the three of them together and for what reason (other than a party none of us were invited to)?
  22. I'm going to be sitting out this season while I figure out post-COVID life.
