  1. Hey, thanks! I need to get plastic glue. You get this from a hobby store? What brand do you use? Also, I have... a story... A couple years ago, my wife mixed up the super glue and the eye drops bottle. Some of them do look very similar... She placed a big old drop of super glue right in the middle of her eye. Yes, the Horror, the horror... Immediately realizing what she had done, she ran for the sink and flushed her eye with water. It loosened just a smidge at the widest part of her eye. But most was glued shut. While saying goodbye to her eyeball (under the water), she managed to call the optometrist, then called me at work for an emergency drive. My wife is very good in an emergency. I advised her to place a patch over her good eye, and try not to move her eyeballs, for fear of tearing flesh. We raced to the eye doctor, and he placed some drops in her eye. Long story short, she lucked out with only superficial scratching, and many lost eye lashes (that had to be cut away). Needless to say, "Please don't try this at home kids." LOL!
  2. Hello fellow geeks and geekesses, The other day I was glueing up my fifth Rhino, feeling rather smug, as I noticed my building skills have been slowly improving with each build. Then, as I was finishing off my little masterpiece, I happened to get glue on my fingers and gluey fingerprints all over the model in an attempt to save my fingers from bonding to each other and to the plastic. The Horror! The shame... I scraped a bunch off with my new best friend, the exacto knife, when I noticed that the knife was not removing it without scratching a bit of the surface. Eeeek! I then applied my other best friend, the scrapper, newly purchased at GW. That helped a bit, but I can't help but wonder what this poor model will look like once it is painted. I was using Krazy glue, but recently switched to the ultimate, Loctite Ultragel Control. What do you use? What is the best way to glue up the final top piece that fits over the Rhino? Do you manage to get all the seems and what-not? Is there some sort of liquid, like cooking oil or something, that would help remove glue without scrapping? One final question, the lights... Which way do you glue them? Roundy lights to the inside, or to the outside? Thanks, so much! Warprat
  3. Well, I never liked Crunch HeadSmack anyway... good riddance to that git! Just wish I had the gold to replace him, LOL.
  4. I would like to give a shout out to GW for their outstanding customer service! A few years ago I bought an Apocalypse Battle Company and parked it in my closet. Lately, I started on building the rhinos from said box. To my horror, I noticed that each of the nine rhino sprues were all missing the same parts. The L4 and L7 track pieces, to be exact. I had visions of having to troll eBay from the 40K parts mongers. Paying out my rear end... To my pleasant surprise, they found out what I needed, and sent it out the same day. I received the parts in about 3 days. OK, one could say that the problem should have never occurred in the first place. But, "stuff" happens. To support a product many years old, is outstanding. Their stuff is not cheap, but they sure have great customer support. Go GW!
  5. It's all good... I'll take the blame, since the new guy should always get all the blame, just for being new... LOL!
  6. Hi savion, I didn't see my Orc team in there... The Green Skin Slackers. I have created my team on the website.
  7. Please add me to the League... I will be playing Orcs. Team name: Green Skin Slackers

I will be there on Tuesday as well. I will bring my 40K and Bloodbowl Orcs.
  9. Hi Everyone, I am planning to make my first new appearance on Tuesday. I will be bringing some 40K Marines and a Blood Bowl team, if no one wants to play 40K. Hope to see you there!
  10. Oh darn, it showed up in the post, and now it's gone... Well, it was dark angels green for base color. Gold highlights around shoulder trim and eagle on chest. Black eyes, mouth grill and gun (with gun metal... I could also go bronze or silver with metallic pen? ). White emblems on shoulders (but could be metallic silver?). There are other sharpie markers as well. Red, green, purple, black, blue, orange, yellow, etc... Some of them are called permanent paint markers, and are made to be used on metal, pottery, wood, plastic, etc... About warprat... it is actually a combination of the "warp" and the "Stainless Steel Rat" by Harry Harrison. I have an avatar picture that Harry Harrison the author drew, and which I found and appropriated. I used the name in desperation after about 10 different tries with something more heroic sounding, LOL. Some how, some people get war-prat out of it, and I can't figure out why... When I typed "prat" into the online dictionary it came up with "the buttocks." Do I resemble a butt? Maybe a butt head, because I am so smart, LOL!
  11. paxmiles, I think you make some very good points here. It is amazing to me that people will pay good money for terribly painted GW minis on e-bay. Talk about re-sale value... I have been buying metal dreadnoughts for pretty cheap, though. The paint should strip off quite well. Nobody likes dreads right now, but things change and can swing around again. I really like the added weight, it somehow feels "right" when you pick it up and move it. I have been looking around at what is available. The amazons were kind of an impulse choice, which is why I posted. Thankfully, you guys managed to talk me down from the ledge. But I do love Deamonetts. I bought 10 of the old metal figures just before they were discontinued... I have noticed that there are quite a lot of good non-GW Ork figures. And since Orks are so non-standardized and chaotic in nature, I think they could fit in with GW figures quite well. And I have seen a nice Highlander set, that looks very good as Imperial Guard. I believe they are pretty spendy, but less than GW.
  12. Thanks so much for your posts PourSpelur! I do have lots of mini's to do. I have read that one advantage of dipping is that it provides a very tough coating. What would you use for the dip? I will have to do any heavy painting on my front porch, so I have some time to plan everything out before the weather turns. As far as colors go, I am completely overwhelmed, and have no idea on which direction to go... Maybe something like this: I could use gold and black pen, perhaps... I guess white paint for the raised shoulder emblems. Ideas?
  13. Amazons with apocalypse arms. Put some deamonette type claws on some. Make them into a Slaanish traitor guard. Add some deamonette summoning.
  14. Thanks guys! Well, I probably don't need any more mini's anyway. Got plenty of Space Marines to work on... But, these looked like they might be really fun to make into a Imperial Guard force:
  15. Hey Guys, Before I pull the trigger on buying some cheap non-GW minis, what is the general consensus on this? OK or not OK? Can you use them at tournaments? What if they have some GW parts, like guns? Thanks in advance!
