  1. Robin Laws' new RPG, based on the horror works of Robert Chambers is Kickstarting now. If you like his stuff, Carcosa & The Yellow King, or madness in general it might please you: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1721105501/the-yellow-king-roleplaying-game-from-robin-d-laws
  2. Yup. This is the best reason to get them in digital format imo. Faster updates, and less sunk cost when the actual codexes release.
  3. Just watched this (free on Amazon Prime video). I really enjoyed it, though I thought it got pretty goofy right at the very end.
  4. I need another small project to work on between sessions of painting the Tau suits, and sessions of banging my head against the wall 'cuz it would have been SO much easier to paint the suits partially assembled...
  5. Chinatown 10/10 I thought I had seen this years ago, but I guess I only saw a few scenes on weekend afternoon TV. I knew the premise, but not the details. And it's the details that deliver. Such a great movie.
  6. I have that compressor, and it is pretty quiet. In my office, with the door closed, you really can't hear it outside the room. I'd have had no problem running it when my kids were asleep, but YMMV.
  7. I'm currently hobby-ing my son's Tau for him, but I plan on starting 8th with my Orks. I have my Imperial Fists to fall back to if things go poorly for me and the Green Horde. Why? Cuz I'm sick of Space Marines, and what few Tyranids I have kicking around aren't enough to field.
  8. Yup, this is another alternative. I got it, and added a Badger 105 brush, though the one that comes in the kit is fine for basecoating and rough highlighting.
  9. Only the first hit is free. It's axiomatic.
  10. You can get one worth owning for far less that $300, compressor included. Totally worth it.

    Sadness

So sorry for your family's loss. Any passing is hard, but such a little one... terrible.
  12. Whoa. Back then, the only miniatures gaming I was doing was Battletech... but I was reading White Dwarf for general RPG stuff. I vividly remember those ads. Major nostalgia hit.

  14. I saw the books at Dice Age this afternoon. You've got to hand it to GW, they make absolutely beautiful game books. I might have to revisit my decision to go with the eBooks.
  15. Pre-orders for the iBooks versions of the books are up. $45 for the main book, which (for me) is the sweet-spot from GW's point of view... that is, the most I'd ever pay for an ebook. If it was $30, it'd be an auto-buy. If it was $50, I'd ignore it. At $45, I'll probably go with it instead of the HC. Clever bastards.
  16. I told myself I wasn't allowed to buy more models until I painted all the ones I have now. But trading isn't buying... and garage sales are hardly like buying at all.
  17. Thanks. Superficial searches are superficial
  18. Are there details on the event anywhere? I did a superficial search and didn't find anything. Can I just show up with a box of crap... I mean great stuff... to trade?
  19. Ok, I'll give this a shot. I'm going to get these 5 models (3 Crisis Suits, a Broadside, and a Commander) painted to tabletop standard... nothing too ambitious, I haven't really painted a model in years and just want to get some airbrush practice in.
  20. Nice! The problem with the ones I linked is they're pretty 'deep' so take up a fair bit of desk space. Yours look much more space-efficient.
  21. I use these acrylic nail-polish racks from Amazon. Pretty affordable.
  22. I wasn't taking the pre-order thing seriously. Are we expecting supplies to be constrained?
  23. So what does this mean? The Indexes are only temporary?
  24. Luke Cage S01 (yeah, I'm slow). This is a tough one. The quality of the show was top notch. The characters were believable (for a comic book movie), acting was fine, and the storyline was interesting. I really liked the portrayal of Harlem as, essentially, a character itself. Buuuuuuut, I found the pacing absolutely glacial for much of the show. There were long runs where I'd pop open a fresh browser tab and just listen to the show in the background while I surfed. Over a broadcast season, maybe it'd be better but as a binge-watch it felt like 8 - 10 episodes of content stretched out to 13.
