My first dabbling with Apothecary White was... unsatisfactory, doing “one thick coat” over the recommended Grey Seer base. See the Terminator pic below... not what I was going for with my White Scars.

After some test models, I settled on a roughly 1:1 mix of Apothecary White with Contrast Medium, applied over the brightest white primer I could find, a Rustoleum 2X, I think it is, from Target. This is much brighter and gets the bits of grey you see in codex illustrations.

Here’s the mix being applied and some final results. These are much more like what I wanted.

That’s true for the scene overall, but Christopher Lee’s half of the fight is great. He had some mobility issues during filming (he was 79 years old at the time of filing AotC) which limited his ability to perform much footwork, so any shots where you can see his legs and he’s doing it rapid movement, it’s probably his stunt double. But Lee actually worked closely with the fight choreographer and his stunt double to make sure that Dooku fought the way Lee would have.
One of the greatest failings of the prequel trilogy, IMHO, was that the severely under-used Christopher Lee. If I was directing them, TPM would have still been mostly the same but I’d have had Darth Maul taking orders from Darth Tyranus. AtoC would play out mostly the same, only with a surprise reveal at the end that Darth Tyranus was himself the apprentice to Darth Sidious... RotS wouldn’t have had Grevous in it at all, with Dooku replacing him for most of the story. Then when Anakin fell to the Dark Side, he’d kill Tyranus late in the second act as part of his becoming Darth Vader. (Oh yeah, I’d also have named his character damn near anything other than “Dooku.”)
Christopher Lee was a world champion fencer, did most of his own stunts and participated in more on-screen sword fights than any actor in history... and his was in his thirties and forties for the bulk of them. Lee was FIFTY-ONE when he made The Three Musketeers... Which I mention purely as an excuse to share this clip:

I can now say with absolute certainty - the Tectonic Fragdrill is the most time spent painting per point of the unit I've ever spent... EVER!!!
Here's a few "in progress" shots - hoping to get it done in the next few days...

Do you know anyone with a drill press? It's easy to set a drill depth, so no danger of drilling through the base. Plus, it'd go a lot faster than hand-drilling.

Tammies Hobbies in Beaverton has fully stocked Vallejo ranges. I get all of mine from there now.

That's tempting. If for some reason I wasn't able to do the whole tabletop wargaming thing, I'd be deep in model train nerdery.

I've been ordering online. I'd rather buy locally, but if Amazon can get it to my house in two days with free shipping that beats one (or two, or three...) weeks of waiting for a special order to show up the the FLGS every single time.

Of the few stores I have shopped at Guardian Games has the largest and best stocked selection. However, they usually have a few missing colors and other weird stock levels. The employees say that they only get restocks from Vallejo once a month? or something like that. Last summer there was some sort of run on Vallejo paints and no store could get certain color in for several months! I had to buy Citadel paints to cover.
Also, since the new owners have taken over Guardian it seems like they have been better at keeping the paint in stock. Not sure what if anything has changed, but Guardian Game's employees have always been very helpful to me getting what I need and have special order extra paint for me.

Try Geeks & Games in Oregon City. I'm not sure which ranges they have, but I know they carry some, and last I was in it looked pretty full.

Does anyone know if any stores in the Portland area maintain a decent stock level of the Vallejo paint lineup (Game Color, Game Air, Model Color, Model Air, Metal Color, etc.)? I know several have sparse, well picked-over displays but I'm hoping to find one that actually maintains the line...
