  1. Hey so there's a new book/codex/formation/whatever out that supposedly makes Rough Riders not suck for once. I haven't seen, it don't know what it's called, and don't know why. BUT I KNOW I HAVE 15 ROUGH RIDERS (two with FLAMERS - cause you can) and I wanna know if I should play em. Can some soul have mercy on me and explain what's up? Thanks bros.
  2. I have a Eldar Lascannon, in fact. It looks funny. Much smaller than the Imperial version, but same shape.
  3. Confirmed! Old skool scatter laser in the house dawg!
  4. My hunch is that the bottom one was a OOP scatter laser from the 90s that shipped with the Heavy Weapons/Grav platform. Found one picture (very small) that seems to confirm this but wanted expert opinion here. Thanks guys!
  5. A ton of termies and land raiders might just be what I'm looking for! I'll discuss with team mates and get back to you in a few days. Thanks! Portland area?
  6. Corrosive is generally better. Bio is cheaper and useful only if you are planning on boarding.
  7. Will be at Guardian most Wednesdays this month. Twenty bucks cash and it's yours. Also have assorted Guard bits, some Eldar bits (no scatter lasers sorry)
  8. House rules? House objectives! Like Gin Rummy for Penalties, with real physical punishment for the players. You play 40k, you know in your heart your are a masochist. Fail to do X, receive physical pain Y. Such as a shot of pickle juice, soy sauce and cayenne pepper. Hold an ice pack on your ____ for 90 seconds, etc.
  9. This was a fun (not serious) event for anyone who makes it to Adepticon next year. It's cool to have a new partner each round and all my teammates were nice. 4 rounds was a tad tedious, but I enjoyed myself. Playing 2x wave serpents with DA inside was never scoffed and it was a good choice of list. The only downside is I had no characters so I had to rely on my partner for being the warlord. Often it was simply a SM sarge or something equally 'unwarlord-ly'. I made some new friends and had a good time.
  10. Here's the result. The 'matte coat' works pretty well, then metallics. Eldrad just finished lunch (he prefers a Thai combo #8) and is ready to summon a witchfire power to devour you.
  11. Ok then I will be EVIL. If you really wanna be good at this game you need to collect the 'support' fleet minor races and build a fleet of Ba'Kash, Ryushi, Tarakians or Works Raptor! But seriously, Aquans vs. Relthoza would be a great place to start. Terrans are good "jack of all trades" but they've fallen out of favor for me due to their reliance on shields (which are inherently unreliable). That said I have probably 2000pts of Terrans. Doh. Sorylians sound good but aren't.
  12. This is a funny thread. You should consider moderating your ordering until you've played a few games. I've gone through about 3 permutations of what I thought was a good fleet, and have a lot of useless/unplayed models because of it. We play at Guardian most Saturdays at noon. Most people I know are happy to substibute/borrow/lend ships of any faction.
  13. I have a metal commisar with no arms and some assorted bits that might work (no bolt pistol though) and a hodgepodge cadian. Lemme know. I am at Guardian most Wednesdays. PM me.
  14. Thanks guys! The wrap-up from the organizer: http://thewaygate.blogspot.com/2015/03/the-schaumburg-prime-offensive-and.html#more
  15. I have to say the Baked Potato display board was hilarious. I was not prepared for so much humor that many of the teams had on display, both in their armies, boards, and shirts.
  16. Greetings from Adepticon ... I'm underslept yet wired and well awarded. Got 'best painted' in the RAT Combat Patrol (400pt team tournament) and 3rd+Best Sports in Firestorm Armada national championships. This is my first Adepticon, hanging out with Mr. More Tanks, Paul and the French Overlord. The display boards are CRAAAAAAAaaazy, like a "whole nother level". Some dudes are wearing fancy outfits. There was a 6' blond elf girl here earlier (no photos sorry!) and having a generally good time. Here are some photos of some of the more wacky stuff I witnessed.
  17. Ok final game was epic! Battle log alone was four versus zero, a statistical draw. Objectives are what won my opponent the game 15 to 0. He was a solid player with good decisions. Having never played Work Raptor before I did as well as I felt I could. Overall came in 3rd at 3-1. Also won best sportsman! Thanks Evolution Games crew from Lansing who are basically the reason the tourney happened. PS for those that don't know Firestorm is scored on a scale of -15 to +15, so 15-0 is decisive but not a blowout.
  18. Well I won my third round thanks to a good match up for me, playing Terran and ignoring their shields felt a little unfair. 25 to -3. A real fun guy and some incredible rolling on both of our parts made this a fun game. Despite being against all odds his admiral survive the game. Pictures attached. I lost an entire squad of Sulan this round and the other was heavily damaged. I split my fleet playing aggressively and those cruiser just aren't that sturdy on their own. I think I'm going to the top table for the fourth and final round!
  19. Okay round two. Against another Tarakian I won 26 to -5. It's funny to complely ignore each others shields and terrain. I used minefields to neuter a frigate squad round 1 and pressed the attack on his Sulan. By round three the outcome was clear but his sturdy battleship lasted until round six before the Sulans hunted it down like Orcas hunt whales. Lost my frigates and two cruisers. Battleship minor damage.
  20. Hey guys doing this from my phone cause hotel internet sucks. Got to keep it brief. Terrain placement is good at 25%. A turnout of about 24 people. First round against a Hawker I won 22 to -5. It was close at first but then I pulled a cruiser into a planet and started rolling crazy good. It was downhill from there, only his battleship escaped. I lost most of my frigates (typical) and only a single cruiser. I kinda wanna put the Sulan cruiser on a tshirt. ???? Missions are interesting and 3 objectives generate up to 13 additional BL. There is one other Tarakian player but interestingly no Aquans. More reports to follow. Games against this tournament player went a lot faster. We finished 45 minutes early out of a 2 1/2 hour round.
  21. Yep. Sure is stinky. Gloves required. So are eyegoggles if you are 'shaking'. I'm lucky to have a garage. Even so, the models themselves have an odor for DAYS after dipping.
  22. I thought they sold larger cans of it? Maybe not anymore. You'd have to dip a tank really fast, before it soaked into the interior and never dried out inside.
  23. What's best about the Loctite gel is the dispenser doesn't clog nearly as easily as other containers.
