  1. I'm not at all impressed with the Mantic rules, very blah and predictable, it lacks dynamic play. I'm not convinced that AOS is not a movement game, it is just a lot more subtle in how you take advantage. Flanks still mater, if you can engage a unit on two flanks, you can pile in to maximise your attacks while your enemy is stuck because they can't move their forces more than an inch apart. Also the retreat is not being used to its fullest potential in most games that I have witnessed, it is that retreat which can open the door to movement traps. That 3 inch zone of control is also important for controlling parts of the board. Even though I'm a huge fan of 8th, I think this new game has some legs, but I agree finding a good balancing point, especially for tournaments is essential.
  2. I like the new scoring system, it will add some diversity to the final points. I always had an idea about keeping track of star player points and having them count toward your total for a tiebreaker but I don't know if it would favor certain team types or not.
  3. Ticket bought, list in. How many people do we have so far?
  4. 1. 8th 2. 3rd 7th sucked, I played dwarfs and it was all about static res. Whoever thinks there was more tactics in 7th started the July 1st celebrations early, yeah I'm talking to you Burk. I once faced a vampire lord with a unit of 6 blood knights who failed a charge by 1 inch. I was set up perfectly, I charged him with a unit of clansmen with great weapons in the front along with longbeards with greatweapons. I charged a unit of miners on one flank and a another unit of warriors with great weapons as well on the other flank, basically my entire army sanse an organ gun and a unit of minors and an anvil. He won the combat, broke every unit and ran down my longbeards over running into my anvil. That was the typical game for me in 7th, I use tactics I loose. But whenever I build my army to have a ton of static res with my runes of battle, I would do well. Boring, boring boring.
  5. My brother is not a painter and I don't have time to paint his team, does anyone have a spare chaos team painted that he could please borrow?
  6. I'm sorry, I will buy a ticket soon, but I have to wait until the end of next week.
  7. Who do we hand lists in to?
  8. It's alright, the way I have been playing lately they'll all be slayers by the time the battle is over.
  9. We are all going for a range of lists, we should have one 8, two 13's and an 18 to create variety.
  10. 18.4, yeah at one point I had three dragonslayers with breath weapons, but I went another route. ;)
  11. Right now I have this: Ungrim, the Incarnate of Fire Daemonslayer, MR Flight, Grudge, Might Runesmith, Shield, Firey ring, Dispel, Stone, Passage Thane, BSB, Grungni, Strollaz, Shield 42 Longbeards, shields, Full Command, Stubborn MR 1 38 Slayers Full Command, Grudge on the Giant Slayer, Strollaz, MR 1 5 rangers, musician 5 rangers, musician Gyro Gyro with Vanguard
  12. Our lists are ridiculously similar. :) I'm back and forth on having a second deamonslayer or 9 more slayers, a second ranger unit and vanguard on a gyro.
  13. Okay, I think both my brother and I are in for this event! I have been toying around with this system, and it does what it advertises, it creates unique builds, which is not a bad thing. It even has me thinking that I can fit a chainsaw into my dwarf list.
  14. As far as redirecting goes, don't be afraid to rush Ungrim out of the unit to hold someone in place. He does not die easily so he can typically survive a round or two while your other units get into position.
