  1. This is my kind of army! I play Orcs and my style is similar. Even the same magic lores, though I go double adept to save points. What I see is similar problems too what I have had. You don't have the most spread of "up punching" units (high Strength; trolls, huskarls, and kind of bezerkers) and you don't have shooting (which is for cowards). Oh and your characters are lean and mean. Expect problems with enemy units that are of high quality. Elf bricks, monstrous cav, ridden monsters, some dwarven anvils. But man you do have so many models it's beautiful.
  2. Hey, WWizard or Ben, I have a friend who's just started poking his nose around miniature gaming. He's liked playing the 3 or so games he's got in, but his scheduling would make him a likely poor fit for an organized league. Just wondering if there's a low commitment option or should I simply suggest "hey come with us when you can and see if you can snag a game"?
  3. I trust we'll have an announcement that states in one place any special rules. (unless I already missed it) The core Rulebook gives definition as to what can be in a Warband (3000 and less) (to those who haven't looked one big adjustment is all 0-X restrictions are halved rounding up, so only 1 cannon in I think all cases). Whether or not we will be using Flux Supplement''s Warband Flux Cards. Any other potential restrictions like Ben's allusion to a "only hero level characters". Rules about the persistent campaign element (which I assume will be awesome). I've already suggested an adjustment IF a rule of "locked in" general proves cumbersome for Daemonic Legions (also Vermin Swarm players wanted to be General'd by a Vermin Daemon). I post this mostly because I'd like to know where the organizers are in that particular process or direct this conversation towards making those decisions.
  4. There are different kind of retinues then just sitting in the unit. I mean we can bet half the elves will end up on something large. I'm commiting myself now to play daemons but man is a 15 boy boar boy unit looking like just the most fun.
  5. The only problem, is.... I wanna have a retinue of 15 boar boys. Daemons or Orcs, it's so harrrrrd.

  6. Hey most likely daemon player, I'll make the case. A major point of customization for our army's characters is locked behind choose a 350-700 point (before upgrades) general. These character customizations are also unit buff and characterful design choices for how our units operate. (It's not just a Succubi squad it's a poison attack Succubi squad). Since this escalation does potentially lock us into a general I have. Addendum to suggest for daemons. "Master in the Rafters: at game one of the escalation game, a daemon player may declare a greater daemon to be the 'Master in the Rafters' even if it is not and could not be in the army at that point level. "With this choice declared a single Herald of Chaos in this army can gain access to manifestations related to that Sin if it is the general as though the army had a General of that Sin." Again I'm not sure what the extent of "leveling up" the general would be, it might be crazy for a gigantic model to get those upgrades. But if the focus is on a retinue and a character let us use our Heralds as though they were marked at least until we put down a GD.
  7. I actually had a similar problem. I work at a small business and half the staff is going to Bellevue (a funny moment of coincidence) to operate a sports tournament on the 16th. I'll be at work until 1pm. Conor is not available due to a tickets to a LARP or something. What a nerd. Whether this bird flies or not, I'd be down to trying again in January.
  8. Pride, envy and sloth can be non gigantic. They are also currently well regarded picks. I don't have the most personal experience to relate as a lack of playing daemons for the last year. Triple units of Myrmidons will give you a nice infantry center. Infantry also have a lot to gain from a Herald with a Guiding Manifestation. Heralds gain access to Manifestations based on the general. So just using the examples that are not Gigantic we have Envy (Poison Attacks, +1 armor pen, Reroll first failed charge), Pride (better discipline, vanguard 6'', Hatred), Sloth (enemies have -2 agi, enemies have worse range to charge you), and that's before the generic ones. Also after all of these suggestions, Myrmidons don't even need a character buffer if you want to keep things cheaper. Just looking at the book it's quite flexible for different models. Not necessarily everything in the same list, but anything can find a model. I could see a big Prince-y individual being a Greater Daemon or the very-odd Blazing Glory.
  9. I've responded to the facebook message and forwarded the questionaire to Conor and the others in my neck of the woods.
  10. Next step would be a dry-test for scheduling, right? Make up a date, ask a host location if they have capacity for.... 8? What's our estimate number? Then turn around and ask people in our communities would do such. Assume like 40-50% chance of follow through from respondents.
  11. What's funny is I'd say the Great Unclean One's successor is the Miser of Greed. Looking at the description. Almost all daemon entries have a progenitor For me and my daemons in WH I ran a multi-god, army heavy on Bloodletters and Daemonettes with no greater daemon. I've been adapting my army a lot, and frankly mostly just playing Orcs. I'm assembling Mantic Nightstalkers to be Lemures (a little bad quality is okay for these kind of units that are almost daemonic undead). I then have.... I forgot the brand for Clawed Fiends. For the DL, at least ruleswise. Godly alignment is a matter of your choice of Greater Daemon. Which Greater Daemon you choose as your general affects which upgrades can be chosen by your Heralds of Chaos (which for me is of premier importance as I like my buffed 'infantry' units). All the non-character units say the Brazen Beasts (descendants of Khorne Juggernaughts) or Hell Hounds (descendants of Flesh Hounds) have upgrades that are given a little watermark for sin, but those aren't restricted by which Godly alignment you take, instead they heavily influence what they are good/great at and what their cost is. Some of the entries in Special are MORE aligned with a specific god, but this is not meant as a restriction, as that could be very restrictive with there now being 7 gods instead of 4. And if you were looking for more of a fluff feel. The 7 Gods under Father Chaos are less 4 titans gridlocked in an Immortal Game as seven brothers and sisters in competition and rivalry. Chaos daemons are not inexorably wed to their patron god, but instead are born of their realm/being. These lesser daemons are than bound into service by more powerful daemons which can at times marshal a Legion and sally forth into the land of mortals. So having a Wrath greater daemon assembling an army with vicious Myrmidons (Bloodletters), brutal Brazen Beasts (Juggernaughts), but also suffocating Hoarders (Beasts of Nurgle? this one's awkward honestly) makes perfect sense.
  12. I've played as (borrowed army) and against VC a few times. I will say the amount of choice through the Bloodline system is quite elaborate (and awesome) . But yeah when October comes around I can definitely do a game. I'm great at crashing Orcs into whatever other people have planned.
  13. @Jason Well no one else chimed in. I invited my brother when Andrew sent out an email if other people wanted to join in, my brother is available and would like to come that day. In light of us only having 3 people after Andrew had to reschedule, I have four proposed solutions A) we bring small armies (2500) and try to play quickly, resolve 1 game then resolve the other. My thought is you'd play back to back. B) We split one side in two. So you bring 2500 Dwarves, my brother brings 2000 Ogre (let's call them mercenaries) and I slap down 4500 Orcs 'n' Gobbos. (the thought here is you'd have less moving pieces to be concerned about, but you'd need to work alongside someone you don't know, that said my brother is a wonderful person). C) We split one side in two. You bring a strong 4500 Dawi force and my brother and I split the 4500 between Ogres, Orcs, and Gobbos. (Super thematic, downside if being 2 against 1 feels uncomfortable, though I do believe we are agreeable people.) D) I can come as a third wheel and help with rules referencing. (I won't be bored, I've got plenty of DnD style projects to work on). In which case I suggest you propose a point allotment (such as the aforementioned 4.5k.) Do any of these sound preferred? Or do you have a solution of your own that you'd prefer? I am quite flexible and excited to play Ninth Age Fantasy Battles. (If you do want to go with the "split" army approach do tell me whether you want to go "no magic", "light magic", or "heavy magic". For dwarves I imagine 0-1 runes is no magic, 2-3 is light magic (expecting to get 2-4 dice a phase), and heavy is 4+ runes in the army (in which case I should suggest the Ogre mercenaries to go without magic) just to help create a smooth experience for the magic phase).
  14. @Jason I am definitely down for that. I am however going to give my brother (and anyone else) 24 hours to confirm whether they're coming. If we have an even number we can have 2 games simultaneously. If we have odd numbers I can run a small "allied" list next to someone else's or just hang out.
  15. @Jason I can be available 1pm at Guardian Games. My brother was also interested, but he does not know if he's available yet. If I were to play I'd bring Orcs in whatever point arrangement is convenient for you. The darned daemon rules changed again (which frankly I am happy about) so I'm not in a rush to bring them out again. Would you be interested in that?
