Sunday tourney @ Borderlands
Lion of Flanders replied to Talapas's topic in Fantasy Battles (9th Age, WFB, etc.)
Bummer! A chance to play the legendary Veskit without traveling to the ends of the earth! Alas, I can't make it....for one as 5 days notice makes things very difficult....not to mention that it comes on the heels of the Rampage combined with Xmas time...blah, blah blah. As I mentioned precisely in another thread about Borderlands Tournaments.....I think it will greatly boost attendance at future events if they are announced as far in advance as possible....and hopefully more than a month out. Anyway..have fun and roll some dice for me -
You wrote it before I could! :) Although, I don't recall you having any complaints when your dwarfs were hammering my orcs into the ground.... It was a really fun lil' event. I liked 1,500 points quite a bit and allowing SCs was fun as well. As for the checklist, I assumed it was purely for fun, and as such could always benefit from some new fun checklist items for future events, but shouldnt be intended as a list influencer, i dont think. I like the suggestions above, such as "allowing an opponent to nudge a deployed unit". That one is particularly good. The one item of themed terrain is a great idea as well. Thanks Raindog for organizing and thanks to my 4 opponents for fun games. I hadn't played orcs since about 2007 (at an OFCC, in fact) and I don't recall ever playing 1,500 points with any army. Particular opponent mention goes to Aaron, who took the absurd efficacy of my 2 dooom divers with aplomb after they hit something like 9 out of a possible 11 shots....with the 11th shot aiming at his lone BSB....which scattered 6" and promptly adjusted back the same 6" to kill the poor bastard (actually he was Slaaneshi so he probably enjoyed being skewered)

Actually, that's awesome. As for checklists...if anyone happens to play me, then y'all are set as I have extra checklist copies. Come to think of it, you wouldn't want a checklist after game one....so I guess that means I have a checklist for my round one opponent and three others to share with anyone who's printer is out of toner when they read this.....

OK...l am putting together a Orc list for the Rampage. I am a babe in woods already when it comes to army design, but even more so with the new rules and 1,500 points (don't recall ever playing at that level). Anyway, here's what I have...any feedback is appreciated... Version #1 Grimgor black Orc BSB (with the biguns) Lvl 2 Orc shaman ( "" ) 18 Biguns w shields 3x5 wolf riders 28 Immortulz (black orcs) 2 x Doom Divers VERSION #2. (as above except)... BLack Orc Warboss replaces Grimgor BO BSB rides in Boar Chariot Add Black Orc Big Boss with Biguns Reduce black orcs to 23 Thoughts?

OK, is this thing at capacity? I have been jonesing for a WFB game since OFCC and looks like I blew it by not paying attention to the forum..... When are lists due? Can I submit a list and be an alternate if the thing is full (which it looks like it is judging from the number of people on this thread)? Let me know, please......

End Times Part III, The Elfening
Lion of Flanders replied to Murphy'sLawyer's topic in Fantasy Battles (9th Age, WFB, etc.)
Hey All: Since when has Gav Thorpe returned to the GW fold? Is this a recent thing? Is the "gone in 60 seconds" Khaine thing available in iBook format? What is the "Curse of Khaine" end times book? -
Borderlands tourney rescheduled!
Lion of Flanders replied to Talapas's topic in Fantasy Battles (9th Age, WFB, etc.)
That's great because I couldn't make it this weekend. It's also great because I doubt anyone outside of a small few knew when it was. I actively searched on the Borderlands web site several times after OFCC and into October and found no mention of it. Suggest to the organizers that the event gets posted on some calendars (Ordo at a minimum) 8 weeks in advance and more players will likely be the result. I would think that y'all might even convince some portland area folks to make the long drive down to Salem and play. -
Thinking about orcs.....
Lion of Flanders replied to Lion of Flanders's topic in Fantasy Battles (9th Age, WFB, etc.)
Ah, yes what a swell group of fellows y'all are! Thanks! ....and for the record, my count is indeed zero. I just thought that maybe I had to get through some required due diligence period to get off the "Double Secret Probation" list or something. -

OK Cool.....I would presume not when he/she Yells and Bawls, true? Also, on an unrelated note....what am I, on probation or something? Why do have this "warning points" tally below my avatar? Am I the only one? -

Hey, does a giant get a thunderstomp? -
Wow....I haven't done anything with Chaos in close to 15 years, but GW sure cranks out some evocative figures in their chaos line. Every time I see the new stuff I feel the temptation to make a chaos army. Really brilliantly disturbing stuff.

Thinking about orcs.....
Lion of Flanders replied to Lion of Flanders's topic in Fantasy Battles (9th Age, WFB, etc.)
Thanks for the tips! Can a direct damage spell be cast from a second rank? Particularly the Orc signature spell which is a direct line and thus would hit the orc in front of the caster.....I'm thinking no..... @HeroZero: I like the goblin BB on wolfs with GWs idea. I don't really have any so thats a great reason to make some new characters which is always fun (I have one but he's in need of an upgrade) Fun modeling possibilities are springing to mind. I presume you just choose your charge targets very carefully so that you survive long enough to strike with your GWs? -

Thinking about orcs.....
Lion of Flanders replied to Lion of Flanders's topic in Fantasy Battles (9th Age, WFB, etc.)
Thanks for the good info! I doubt I'll go down the savage Orc road....I've never been big on the frenzy thing for orcs...and the imagery doesn't really grab me either. My first thought is something like: low magic, like a NG lvl2 and a goblin lvl2 on a wolf. a big unit (40... Is that big enough?) of black orcs with a BO BSB, and a BO warboss A big unit of Orcs or Biguns (again, how big is big?) with a big boss. Night goblins with fanatics and netters (50 enough?) Boar boy biguns 2 doom divers Giant (I dug out a treasure from my catacombs tonight) 3 units of wolf riders Thoughts? -
Orcs were my first warhammer army and I've always really liked playing them. Reading Murphyslawyers posts about starting up an escalation Orc list has me thinking about playing my orcs again. My first question is: what do you use for biguns' nowadays? There are no bigun' figures, true? Maybe nobody uses them and thus no-one cares about how to represent them?

I need to chop off some heads.....
Lion of Flanders replied to Lion of Flanders's topic in Rogue Trading
Problem solved. Thanks to Murphyslawyer. -
...just the imaginary kind. Seriously, I'm in need of some executioner draichs. Anybody made some Black guard recently and have been agonizing over what to do with all the executioner bits? If so....your problem is solved. PM me and let me make it worth your while.

I have a spiffy new high elf chariot box that I would very much like to trade the two "non-lion" sprues for another lion sprue. Pretty much the chariot and the horses and the crew for your lions. Anyone have any spare lions lion around? If you don't need a chariot, and have one or two of those lions, let me know and let's make a deal.
