@Justjokin I'll see about getting Wargame. I'm not that great at RTS games, but I am willing to try. And the Bellingham Warhamsters keep a discord server going, so we would be able to have voice coms super easy.

Also, I would be interested in digital versions of board games as well. So if you and @Inquisitor66 are down, I would love to join.

    Hey guys,

Seriously, I just want to play with some cool people online. I don't care the game. If I don't have it, I'll buy it. I just need some social interaction.

I really don't have an issue with GW pricing, which I know puts me in the minority. Over time everything becomes more expensive. The kits are getting better each year. And since GW is publicly traded, their fiduciary responsibility is to their share holders, not us (unless you're a shareholder). But we do have to remember, that this is a hobby. And hobbies tend to be expensive.

Sugarlessllama got a reaction from Josiah in OFCC 40K Team Tournament INFO post
This does not help at all. Lots of people (myself included) come to OFCC for the Team Event. It is a relaxed and fun event. Telling people that they can play in a standard smash face tournament is like telling people "Hey I know you came prepped for , and were looking forward to some boozy kickball. But we do have this UFC cage match tournament set up just in case you can't meet the kickball requirements. " This does not help.
Again, not helping. You want to know what helping looks like, this is not it.

Yes there are 31 factions listed. I have one army: Space Marines. My Team Captain has one army: Space Marines. And while I may be lucky enough to be able to afford buying the models for a new army, I don't have anything close to the time to paint a 2,000 point army. And what about all the theme teams that come every year?  They prepped all year to bring a theme.  To make such a drastic change with three months to go, I don't think is appropriate.

This sums it up. What makes the Team Event so attractive to a lot of players is the fluff aspect. Its why I show up. If given enough time, I know our community can come up with fluffy themes and armies that fit the aforementioned criteria. I think a faction limit is a fine thing to do for OFCC 2021. But not for 2020.
    Please reconsider.

For the benefit of all involved I am revising my previous plan. Thank you to everyone who has voiced their opinion, and thank you for everyone keeping a cool head about it. I would like to bounce some ideas about factions around at the ORDO senate meeting but for now please know that the restrictions will be relaxed significantly. I will finalize the specifics after this weekend. Team size is going to remain at 4 as in previous years.

Yeah, I remember trying to get a team of 5 together the first couple of years. It was a serious relief to step down to 4s. Plus, with 4s, there's a way to handle an odd number of teams, which is cool.

That would not really be a Pollyanna, but perhaps an optimistic perspective from a single (and perchance privileged) point of view. There may be 31 factions to choose from, but your assumption is that each player at OFCC has access to all 31 of those factions, and enough time and money to prepare a brand new army from now until the end of July. Additionally, we have multiple teams (mine included) that travel over 2,000 miles at great personal expense to attend an event that we believe in, an event that I have pushed and recruited people for over a decade and a half. The ability to simply 'find more people' or 'switch up teams' is not easy for those of us that do not live in the hallowed PNW anymore (and boy do I miss it).

Burk, you know I love you man. We've known each other for a while now, and you also know I wont censor myself. I know you, and for all the German jokes, you're one of the most caring, giving, and selfless people I know (unless you're playing Blood Bowl), and Ordo would be nothing without the endless dedication of you and the rest of the Senators. Thank you for that. With that said, perhaps this statement was meant a different way, but this came across, to me at least, as "sorry our late decision makes it so you can't play in the event you want to, but here's this standard 40k event that isn't the one you came here to play, play in this one". I understand providing an alternative is gracious as hell of the HOG and the Senate, but I really feel that for teams such as Ordo East (as an example), in a tiny town with a single store, where almost everything is shut down and no one can buy anything, and who have already purchased their tickets and in some instances reserved hotel rooms, that is a bitter pill to swallow. This is assuming that I am not misunderstanding the intention of this co-current event. If this is a part of the OFCC team event, and just is a way for Ringers to participate without a team, then that might work. But a completely separate event just isn't the same.

I want to reiterate that this new limitation affects my team in no way, as we never double up on factions, and I LIKE the change and what it's trying to do. I approve of diversity and not just seeing a team of five marine players all with similar lists. It's just the short time frame combined with the current economic/pandemic situation that I am objecting to, and the fact that this decision will make it impossible for some players and even entire teams to not be able to participate. At a time like this, in the type of situation everyone is in with this pandemic, taking away something like playing in the OFCC team event for such a reason just feels against the spirit of what OFCC and Ordo Fanaticus is all about.
That being said all, this is just one person's opinion, and I will, of course, accept the final decision of the HOG and Senate. There are hundreds of small details that go on behind the scenes that we team captains and players do not understand or know about, and there could be a LOT more to this than we know. In the grand scheme of things, the Senate has never made a decision that they did not feel was in the best interest of the club, and I trust them. I simply am expressing my thoughts and feelings.

If I have offended anyone, I apologize, it was not my intention. I love all of you guys, I wouldn't save up several grand a year and fly 2,500 miles to spend a single weekend throwing dice and drinking if I didn't. This event and it's spirit simply matters a LOT to me. Thank you for your understanding, patience, and attention.

I am part of Get Of My LAN. While I like the idea here.  I feel it's bad timing.  With 3 months to go for the team event, and let's not mention with the covid-19 going on.  A lot of people have lost jobs or have hours reduced.
Along with Gw having closed all locations and the warehouse.  This is to soon of a time frame for many people to buy and paint a new army.  It also kills a lot of fluffy themes.

I don't know. I'm pretty happy with the state of the game. WD is full of kitbshing articles, and lots of blog posts on the community site as well. However, now you don't HAVE to kitbash if you don't want to. Yes, there aren't as many options as there used to be. But then again, for me at least, that isn't a problem. I wasn't a bog fan of kitbashing all the time anyway. Maybe you were, and that's cool. So you now have rules for those options. They just won't be the latest and greatest any more. But just because something is old doesn't mean you can't use it.

I mean, I use missions from old editions all the time. Heck, I even field my WHFB dwarfs army using *gasp* 7th or 8th edition rules! It turns out the rule books didn't get repossessed and I could still get games in. You don't have to be constrained by the ITC/Competitive Tournament rules meta. You can just play fun matches with your friends, and forge an awesome narrative on the tabletop. Just sayin'.
