  1. I am printing my entire next army, so no salt. In fact, I think most people would be happy to not see GW on the table. Its not a game that produces new models and forces players to buy them to keep up in the arms race meta, so there is no "I paid the extra $$ to play this at a high level, and you are just proxying trash" mentalities. Mantic's dwarves are awful, I got a few units of theirs, they have ranking issues. Andrew describes dwarves pretty well. Very elite, you can go between gunline and full combat, with mixed arms being the nice in between. The big downside to the army is that they all advance slow, which is to say you typically dont get the luxury of charging your opponent (they charge you). Their magic phase is boring, period. It is certainly not useless, but there is not a lot of thinking or strategy to it. Print the army! Do it!
  2. hey @Damunky just wanted to check in to see how you are doing? It's rather unfortunate you got your first taste of T9A right before the great lockdown. Did you end up getting your Dark Elves? Have you had a chance to play some sort of practice game? Looking forward to hopefully getting to play a game with you once we are back to gaming.
  3. So what if the grail was simply Fimbriation with a coloured inside.
  4. PROGRESS! It has been some time since I painted anything. I finally got the itch for painting again after a few months hiatus. Working on a unit of grail knights, or maybe they will be realm knights, or aspirants. All the same thing really... As per usual, going with mass production and painting on sprue. I didn't take any pictures of the WIP until this point, so this is most of the way through. For this unit I am using 6 bright colors; purple, white, yellow, blue, red, green. This batch is 12 models, so in traditional equality-tane fashion everything is in duplicates of 2. In addition, there are 4 primary features which can hold a solid color, the barding, robe, cloak, and shield. There are 2 more sprues exactly like the one above but with the remaining 4 colors. So the plan here is to mix together combinations of horses, cloaks, shield, and robes. To keep things as equal as possible, I put together a quick matrix of the colors I would use for each model. I have two different matricies I put together, honestly either of them would work fine. Some of the color combinations will clash, others will not, in all it will probably just look ridiculous. I currently do not have any plans to do anything fancy with the shields (I was going to paint a black grail on all of them) since all my cavalry will look damn near identical. I am somewhat second guessing my plan to not put the tincture stuff on the shields, since every other unit has it. This unit is already going to stand out like a sore thumb (or maybe it wont after I hit it with the wash). Next steps are: 1) paint touch ups on horses 2) glue bases to horses 3) cutting and assembly of riders (minus shields) 3) touch up on riders At that point ill have to make a decision on the shields... Until next time!
  5. Umm, Since the great shutdown I have..... Primed 12 knights Hand painted a Duke for about 3 hours, then made a terrible mistake that will take me another hour to fix >_<. Staying far too busy for my own good.
  6. Oh dang, hell level speed runs with a hammer pally. That’s quite the marathon speed run. the army looks great too 😉
  7. Victim Sign-up list 1) AndrewGeddon (AKA Andrew prime) 2) ValourUnbound (AKA The Gaff) 3) Ben Kerr (AKA Handsome Ben) 4) Pecksata (AKA Black Belt Donnie) 5) Will P. (AKA Couch Goblin)
  8. I am happy to announce that currently, OFCC is still set for a GO for July 25/26 at the Hilton in Vancouver Washington. With that, we will once again be running the Ninth Age tournament, this year being dubbed "The Columbia Clash". Name: The Columbia Clash Days: Sat/Sun 7/25 - 7/26 Rules: The Ninth Age 2.0, latest army rules as of 7/18/2020 Points: 4500 Rounds: 5 Pairings: Swiss style Cost: $50 Painting: 3 Color minimum + basing is REQUIRED (Lets get some paint on those models. Depending on how this social distancing thing pans out I am happy to help batch paint some models and get them TT ready.) The tournament packet is still in the works. As always, I will be trying some new things out to try and make this year unique, and removing some of the more bothersome things from last year. Expect to again see tertiary objectives, but in a new style. Expect some odd special rules. Expect some different Scenarios. Expect some nautical themes. COVID-19 Disclaimer: Obviously nobody at Ordo Fanaticus has clairvoyance to what the future may hold. We have all heard wildly different estimates as to when an event such as OFCC will be permissible. The top brass at Ordo are in contact with the venue (Hilton) and are staying up to date. As information rolls out from the Hilton, we will keep you informed. It is too early to say what the contingency will be if July 25/26 does not work out. See a post from @DisruptiveConduct following this post on the latest information on ticket sales and event updates. My current understanding is we should expect updates by the second week of each month. If there are no updates as of the second week of the month, I highly encourage everyone to PM pictures of their genitalia to @DisruptiveConduct to expedite the process. With that out of the way I will be updating this post as new information regarding the Columbia Clash are developed. I hope to see you all this year. Be smart, be safe, paint models. Get your tickets here!
  9. I build all my own movement trays using an exacto knife, craft ply, and craft sticks. shogun miniatures is who I endorse, depending if you want to go the magnetic or steel base route
  10. Well, to your credit, end of Feb falls on a leap day this year, so your internal calendar is just a bit misaligned.
  11. I could get a game in on Sunday. I’ll probably try to pair you against someone else and just be there for rules help. But if all else fails, I’ll overrun you with a swarm of skinks
  12. I've got extra space. There will be one other (Kenyon Duncan) staying at my place for MtW. Kenyon is flying (I presume), so I was going to give him dibs on the inflatable bed. I think I have a spare inflatable, and I also have a couch. I am 4.3 miles from the venue.
  13. I can usually play on weekdays. I also work downtown so Guardian works for me. If nothing else we could meet up for a drink, or introduce you to the clubhouse if you have not been there yet. welcome to portland!
  14. Hey Ben, I forgot to reply to this ages ago. I’m available if you still plan on coming down. There is a chance I’ll also be available on the weekend if the 29th, but that is up in the air
  15. So here is with a bunch of chaff + Scar Vet. The spearbacks are also M12 like the skinks, so that's really 4x chaff. I sacrifice a lot of the shooting, but this is a pretty in your face list, so perhaps the shooting would be useless anyways. Other places to cut points would be up to 3 TG, and the luxury items on the Cuatl. Another idea is to make a cut or two and fit in an adept on Taurasaur to replace the Stygiosaur. Taurasaur is superior in almost every way. The shamanism buff really makes the taurasaur scary as I can start resisting cannonballs and what not assuming I get a shamanism spell off. That also would give me access to chilling howl, which I currently cant take with the styg. Da List! v0.2 Characters: Cuatl Lord - General - Grasp of the Immortal (gives me an additional +1 to cast and an additional channel) - Protean Ponetate (I end up with #1 spell of: Alchemy, Pyromancy, Evocation, Divination, and Druidism) - Scepter of Power (one use - Add a PD to one casting attempt after I roll da dice) - Ancient Plaque (once per magic phase - Reroll 1 casting dice) Scar-Vet - Raptor - GW - BSB - Death Cheater Core: 34 Saurus + Spear + Serpent (FIER + 1 Agil) + FC + Relentless Company Special: 6x Camian - Halberds + Music 6x Camian - Halberds + Music 18x Temple Guard + FC + Relentless Company Jungle G's: 5x Hunter 5x Hunter 1x Spearback 1x Spearback ThundaLiz: Stygiosaur + Mystic Traveller (Adept caster - pick from (Hereditary, Swarm of Insects, Savage Fury, Awaken the Beast)
  16. I can! Vet + raptor + GW + taurasaur vigor (+1 HP, +1 armor), and BSB upgrade comes out to 1 point more than 18 chameleons. Unfortunately that puts me at 4501 😭
  17. Hey everyone, Not much time to go for lists to be submitted for March to War (due before March 1st). My ambition to get the Kingdoms of Equalitytane prepped for M2W is not going to happen. I simply refuse to assemble models without painting them on sprue first, and I just dont have the time to get it done in the next 4 weeks. THEREFORE!!!!! I shall be bringing the good 'ol lizards once again! Going for a less traditional approach. 4 blocks of face punch, an over priced Cuatl, and some support shooting stuff. Da List! Characters: Cuatl Lord - General - Grasp of the Immortal (gives me an additional +1 to cast and an additional channel) - Protean Ponetate (I end up with #1 spell of: Alchemy, Pyromancy, Evocation, Divination, and Druidism) - Scepter of Power (one use - Add a PD to one casting attempt after I roll da dice) - Ancient Plaque (once per magic phase - Reroll 1 casting dice) Core: 35 Saurus + Spear + Serpent (FIER + 1 Agil) + FC + Relentless Company Special: 6x Camian - Halberds + Music 6x Camian - Halberds + Music 18x Temple Guard + FC + Relentless Company Jungle G's: 10x Chamelion 8x Chamelion 2x Spearback 2x Spearback ThundaLiz: Stygiosaur + Mystic Traveller (Adept caster - pick from (Hereditary, Swarm of Insects, Savage Fury, Awaken the Beast) So we have 4 somewhat frightening blocks. Tons of movement (Camians are Adv 6!!). A bunch of buff spells (Druidism (fortitude saves), Evo (reroll to hit), Div (+2 OWS , +2 DWS, +2 Agil), Savage Fury (Battle focus), Awaken the Beast (+1S/Ap or R). As well as always 2 missiles (Quicksilver lash + fireball) and could switch the stygiosaur to half missile or all missile (has access to 2 buffs, 2 missile). I like this list because it gives me two spells to deal with SA's awful weapon skill (Evo and Div). It lacks a flaming banner to utilize flammable attribute from alchemy, but honestly its probably not that important as Camians and TG are S6 anyways. The Saurus could be buffed with +1S if needed, so id only be re-rolling a marginal number of failed to-wounds. I also feel like the magic phase is really strong. always a +2 to cast, can reroll 1 die per phase, and can add 1 die for a really important spell (which is helpful for a buff-centric list). I think if I was going to drop something, it'd be the Chamelions. The point is to get into combat FAST, so the chamelions might just be derping around. I am a bit more tempted to trade them in for Ramphadons, which seem to absorb a lot more enemy shooting (which is good for the camians). Pteradons might be the best choice since I have no chaff, they are just such darn expensive chaff!!! I have absolutely no way to deal with ethereal stuff, apart from magic missiles. I also cant really fight a lord with anything. Thoughts? Likes? Hates? Suggestions? Commentary? Jokes?
  18. Another victory for the kingdoms of equalitytane! Gaston the galant successfully led a raid on the enemies supplies. In proper fashion, the eager errants took the brunt of the enemies spear point allowing for the counter thrust of the peasant lance. Gaston found a trinket amongst the captured goods, providing him inhuman agility (+2 agility). The eager errants, although bested in battle, learned a great deal and are developing into proper knights (+1 OWS / +1 DWS)
