This is what I am running into as a returning 40k player. Hell, I am collecting Space Marines and I have been told that a new codex is coming out this summer. But someone at WOW pointed out to me that I should just worry about putting together an army first and worry about the rules later. Fortunately there are multiple army building apps out there which have shown me what I need to collect first.

Your resident noob will be there about 6ish.

I wanna play, but my army is still under construction. If there is anyone with an extra army who is willing to be patient with the resident newb, I will be there between about 5:30-6.

I'm just getting back into WH40K and am preparing to get my army painted and wanted to know if any of you had any pro tips you would like to share? Specifically, what are some things you have learned about miniature painting that you wish you had known when you started?

I know I'm a little late to the conversation, but I just uncovered a box of 2nd Ed. Warhameer 40K stuff - and it includes about a dozen paints. Most of them are dried or separated, but I'm willing to part with them.

I think it would be great to have a day where we can all get together and just paint our miniatures. Like a knitting circle, only with more Army of Darkness references. We could compare techniques, take notes, etc. Having actually been to WOW, I think it would be an ideal venue. What about you?

Thank you, everyone, for the warm welcome. I'm thinking about dropping by tomorrow for the WH40K night at WOW, but just need a time.

I am the Warhammer 40K equivalent of a Long Time Lurker/First Time Poster. I was introduced to WH40K waaaaay back in 1990 - I still have my copy of "Rogue Trader" as well as both of the "Realms of Chaos" supplements. However, because of finances (or lack therof) the only thing I could afford to do is purchase the current rulebook (maybe a codex or two) and rely on the good graces of my friends who were avid WH40K players and willing to let me play using one of their already assembled armies. Slowly, I have been putting together an army (I recently discovered a long-forgotten box that has my 2 Ed. boxed set and most of the minis are still unassembled and unpainted). But I just want to play again and all of my WH40K friends have either moved away or moved on. Any ideas on how to get started again?
