  1. Ah yeah I remember Miniwargaming did something like this within the last two years. Assuming it's the same thing, you choose territories on the board there and place flags kind of like Risk. Then you do 40k battles with the other factions that you want to fight with over one specific territory or hex. There are other bonuses for manufactorums, comm relays, and other key locations you control on the map that can affect set-up rolls and even giving you extra points worth of troops. It was a really fun campaign to watch Miniwargaming conduct, but it kind of stagnated and it was at the height of the Necron OPness, so Necrons just swept the whole thing in the end, even though Tyranids did very, very well.
  2. 1850 it is Corey. I'm not sure we've ever played each other and neither have I ever played the fabled Sisters, so a game of firsts it will be. I will attempt to endure the multitude of melta and heavy flamer shots coming my way. I'll be there about 6 and I'll bring my wolves.
  3. I'll be there with 40k if anyone want to get a game in.
  4. But the Blood Bowl JIM!!! I'll be around for 40k if anyone wants to get a game in.
  5. L'onel and Russ have been spooning in the same stasis capsule inside the Rock for the last 10,000 years.
  6. Hey Gareth, we missed a couple of things in our after-game procedure namely income and fan factor. Just to let you know what I rolled: 5 for winnings= 50,000g and I rolled a 5+3=8 for fan factor so I don't drop any fan factor. Also, I recreated my team's roster in Battlescribe so we'll see how that goes. Just let me know what you rolled for those two results so we can make it official.
  7. Brendan's Horny Alcoholics vs. Bobby's Rat Bastards I once again chose to receive the ball to start the game and the weather was calm with no effect. Bobby's skaven kicked the ball down the field and the match was on. I achieved a hold on the right side of the pitch with some solid dice rolling and had my catcher pick up the ball and head that way. Bobby wasn't having any of that and skillfully swarmed his skaven to the ball, even getting his Rat Ogre in range to next turn throw a block at the catcher. Seeing this intimidating foe before him, my catcher drank from his flask that he snuck onto the pitch (don't ask what's in it) and swung mightily at the Ogre knocking him back and to the ground. Thanks to this reprieve from the skaven giant my catcher dodged back to the other side of the pitch, and broke for the open field with several teammates right behind. Despite Bobby's hot pursuit, the catcher made it into the endzone for the first score of the game. Other notable events in the first drive was a skaven lineman, going for a block on one of my lineman, getting knocked on his back and injured. In addition, the Rat Ogre saw a Norse lineman look at him wrong and with a beastly hiss swung mightily, breaking the armor of the Norse player, and injuring him. The first half ended in a 1-0 score in favor of the Norse team. The Second half begun with Bobby's Rat Bastards receiving the ball, but due to a blitz carried out by the Norse, the ball was soon put under pressure. However, due to good rolling and positioning, the skaven team was able to extract the ball from the Norse's clutches and run down the field. Despite the pursuit of the Norse, the skaven blocked their way down the field and in the process injured a Norse berzerker, shattering his collar bone. A last stand was made at the goal line by the Norse team which put pressure on the ball and caused many tenuous blocks to be made. However, in the end the high mobility of the skaven prevailed and gutter runner ran into the endzone for his team's first score. The next highlight of the half came after a quick turnover or two by the skaven which opened up the opportunity for the Norse catcher to slide up the sideline and dive for the endzone (twice) for the score, past some very angry skaven linerats and gutter runners. Seeing themselves in a position to win the game, Egil, a lineman for the Norse team, threw himself into harms way to ensure his team the victory. Seeing the opportunity for a blitz as the ball was kicked, he streaked down the field and dodged in front of a gutter runner to snag the ball out from under the skaven's hands. This prompted a rapid response by the skaven who surrounded the ball and proceeded to pummel Egil furiously. Egil held his ground through several skaven blocks, but the weight of numbers brought him down giving the ball to a skaven lineman. Bobby tried his best to run and pass the ball down the field but the clock was against him. After a hard fought game the Norse emerged victorious by a score of 2-1 over their worthy Skaven opponents. Thanks for the great game Bobby and I look forward to our next meeting Final Score: Horny Alcoholics- 2 The Rat Bastards- 1
  8. Sounds good Gareth. A classic case of not matching forum name to real life name =)
  9. @ White Devil A question about League games came up in email today and I was wondering if you could rule on this. If someone already has their two League games in for the month would any other games that they played in that same month against someone who doesn't have their two games in count as a League game for that player? Hypothetically, I've got a game against Gar on Friday, but I've already got my two games in for the month after tonight. Would the game on Friday count for Gar's League games for the month or would he have to find someone who hasn't played two games yet this month? Just wanted your opinion on this.
  10. Brendan's "Horny Alcoholics" vs. Corey's Chaos Marauders (Sorry Corey I didn't find out your team name) So, I received the ball to start the game with a casual gust of wind gently blowing as the two teams took to the pitch. The Chaos Gods did not look favorably at their servants as their armor didn't save them from the blows of the Norse drunkards who shouted "What day is it" as they flailed away. After many blows a Chaos Warrior eventually went down suffering an injuring along with a beastmen or two suffering knockouts. The Warriors of Chaos retorted, fighting for the ball and even KOing a couple of Norse linemen. The opening drive ended with a touchdown for the Norse team, made by Logan, most of the way through the first half. At the start of the second half, things got interesting. Down a few players, thanks to some beastmen not wanting to get back in the fight, the Dark Gods conveyed to their chosen an "ballzy" plan (pun intended). Seeing himself surrounded by Norsemen and the sun shining brightly in his eyes, a loyal Beastmen took it upon himself to run the ball to an awaiting teammate, who took the handoff, and literally hoofed it down the field. This put the Warriors of Chaos in range to score. However, seeing their chance at an unlimited amount of booze after the match slipping away, the Norse players quickly ran the Beastman and its escort down and wrestled the ball from him. Still deep in their own territory, the Norse team could only watch in horror as their ball carrier was blitzed by a Beastmen, using his horns to full effect, after which the same Beastman picked up the ball and ran it into the endzone for a touchdown. Now the score being tied, and through some bad luck, both teams found themselves even in numbers for the first time since the start of the game. Receiving the kickoff, the Norse team furiously protected the ball. As the result of some key blows by Norse players, a hole opened up and the Norse Catcher made a run for it. But wait, a Beastman was their to answer and with a mighty bellow blitzed the Catcher down and drove the ball from his hands. With the play lying on the pitch, the Norse team did something few would have dared. Blitzing the only remaining beastman in the area down, a Berzerker picked up the ball and handed it to the team's Catcher. The Catcher ran for it, diving for the endzone (twice), and scoring on the last turn of the game. An epic finish to an epic game. My thanks Corey for a great start to the League. Final Score: Horny Alcoholics-2 Warriors of Chaos -1
  11. Ok, unless something comes up on my end we can do a 5:30 game on Wednesday.
  12. I'll be Blood Bowling it up with Corey and trying to see who can get injured the least. If I have time I could try and fit in another Blood Bowl game with either Bobby or Jim to get my two games for the month out of the way in one fell swoop.
  13. And Bobby we can see Tuesday how long Corey and my game will go and maybe we can work out a double header. Otherwise I'm also available Wednesday if you want to work out a time after 5pm to play.
  14. Hey Corey we can totally play on Tuesday. It'll be fun, since our teams are both kinda bashy. Thanks again for providing your models. I'll be there about 6pm and we'll be able to get a game in easily. If anyone else wants to play on Tuesday let me know and I can try and fit a game in with you after Corey and I murder each other.
  15. Yeah Horns are really good and I had a lot of fun with them when I played a Nurgle Campaign in the digital Blood Bowl game and had some Pestigors do some serious damage with that skill. On another note Corey, I have made my list for my Norse team for what I want to run and I will be using your models that you've so kindly provided. Should I be aware of any models that you don't have for the specialty positions like the Norse werewolf, berserker, Yeti, etc.? I know proxying is a thing but just so I know what you do and don't have before I put my team on the pitch for the first time.
  16. Well that's good to hear Corey, since it looks like you won't be able to afford that minotaur in your opening list. Those things are terrifying, at least until they wild animal for half the match.
  17. Just wanted to get this thread started now in case there were people who needed to let others know they couldn't make it down tomorrow due to the snow. I will be there for some 40k with TW. If TW can't make it then I'd be available if anyone wants to do a practice Blood Bowl game before they dive into League play. Stay warm everyone and drive safely.
  18. Coach Name: Brendan Cheap Team Race: Norse Team Name: Horny Alcoholics Motto: "What Day Is It?" Contact: PM here or email cheapb@uw.edu
  19. Awesome, that's great to hear. Upon hearing that I think I'll throw my proverbial hat in the ring on this one. I've never been a part of a league before, and playing Blood Bowl is always fun. I'll submit my team/personal info in the other thread here in a bit.
  20. I'm debating whether or not to jump into this League since I am a big fan of the digital versions of Blood Bowl but have never played the physical game. I'm thinking of using one of the "general use" teams at the shop, probably Norse since default block is kind of nice early, but I have a question. Do I have to worry about buying my own board to play on or any special dice? Having to throw money at being able to play in this league is a big turn off for me if that's true.
  21. 1850 it is Jim. I'll see you around 6 tonight.
  22. Yeah Jim we can definitely do a 40k game if you want. Any point threshold in particular?
  23. Yep, it was one of those /facepalm moments. It was at that moment that my Daemon Prince knew he'd ****** up. In that same instance he also rolled the Telepathy power that gave a unit/caster a 5++ against shooting. Dude, you're a deamon. You already have that. Grrr
  24. Unfortunately no. I had my Nurgle Daemon Prince a few weeks ago roll on Telepathy and get the psychic power that gives a unit shrouded. It was unlucky since my entire army already had shrouded from being a daemon of nurgle. Another thing is that Mastery lvl determines how many powers you get at the start of the game (Mastery lvl 1 psycher gets to roll once on a discipline tree), AND the number of powers you can attempt to manifest in a single psychic phase. A lot of people forget the second part, including myself, at times.
  25. I'll be there around 6pm for 40k primarily, but I"m still wresting as to whether to step into the Blood Bowl ring. If there are no takers for 40k I could do a game of Blood Bowl with someone and just borrow one of the teams that are at the shop.
