  1. See, that's exactly the problem. The 44x30 is too small. I like anything 1k and under on a 4x4 table, and anything over that on a 6x4. With 40k's wonky deployment these days, if you roll the short side deployment, all you have to do is cross that 30" and you're in melee turn one, which is easy to do and exactly what happened to me. If they're going to be screwy with the deployment, then they need to have even board sizes that prevent that kind of BS.
  2. That's good. One of the last 40k games I played before I hung it up was a combat patrol crusade game where I was tabled at the top of two by a bunch of boys in a battlewagon who were in melee in the top of one. I'll probably swing by and at least give it a go.
  3. Question. What size board will the games be played on? In my experience, small sized games on the new GW recommended board size skew so heavily towards melee infantry that it's pretty much not fun for anything else to play on. I'd like an excuse to dust off my 40k and give another go, but while I like the idea of small games, I feel like in the current state of the game, they're hopelessly imbalanced.
  4. Immortality gives you a lotta free time.
  5. Honestly, GW has proven that you can get incredible detail and quality out of thermoplastics. CB has very exacting quality standards. I'm more excited than worried.
  6. https://scenery-forge.com/en/ This looks interesting. I know they use plaster and resin, but I wonder if you could use melted down sprue...
  7. Alas, I have zero disposable income at the moment, and it will likely be a month or two at least before I do. Being unemployed sucks. Once I get my hands on a resin printer (likely for my birthday in October) I'll be in good shape, but until then...
  8. I find it odd that they have "Imperial Guard" and "Veteran Guardsmen" as well as "Greenskins" and "Kommandos". I get that they have specific stuff in the box, but it seems weird that they're not lumping those in with the normal factions.
  9. Ahhh... You're killin' me, Smalls! I gotta find a way to get some little toy soldiers for this [big bad swear word], I'm a hopeless sucker for a good campaign map...
  10. I don't think they've released that info yet, but I imagine that they'll be much like it was in the old one, where you could build something out of any 40k faction. Be nice if they had a proper Inquisition faction, too. Inquisitors' retinues work far better in Kill Team than 40k.
  11. So it seems they've fixed a couple of the most glaring issues from the previous edition, being that models were too fragile and it was too easy to alpha strike your opponent off the table. They've made models a lot more durable, even Guardsmen, and they've switched to an alternating activation a la Necromunda. Good start.
  12. I suspect they will. Even for GW and their current trend of artificial scarcity, not releasing the rulebook separately after running a limited quantity of the starter box is a boneheaded thing to do, if they want people to buy and play the new game.
  13. Like most GW releases, I'm cautiously optimistic. I love the idea of Kill Team, but the previous rules weren't very good. I'm hoping they manage to actually improve it. I like that they're moving to the alternate activation system like Necromunda has. Looking forward to reading someone else's rulebook before I take the plunge.
  14. Ugh. I need a resin printer so I can bring my Oathmark idea to fruition! I wanna come play!
  15. I'm very much the same way. I can read half a rulebook before getting bored and losing focus, but if I'm actually playing, I can learn a lot faster. I'll definitely be around, just let me know when you're back and up for a game.
  16. So who might be interested in giving out a demo to an interested party who is fully vaccinated? I'm looking for a new drug, as 40k and Infinity are kinda burning me out at the moment, and I'm drawn to the rank-n-flank thing, but I watched a few videos for T9A and they made my head spin. This sounds like a lot of fun.
  17. Thought we should have a place to share our pets being themselves. Here's the latest antics of Stubbs the bearded dragon. She's one of those people who says they can sleep anywhere.
  18. I would be potentially interested. Give me an excuse to dust off my old teams, maybe actually paint up those Norse minis.
  19. Ah! Aid from an... unexpected quarter!
  20. ...Now I need an Ordo Hereticus Inquisitor modelled after Mel Brooks.
  21. I read about that. That is the absolute most Lemmy thing to do. The world is a lesser place without him. Kinda reminds me of this: https://www.guitarworld.com/news/man-builds-guitar-out-of-his-dead-uncles-skeleton-uses-it-to-play-black-metal
  22. I, for one, am quite excited.
