Because it’s easier to say “PL 25; PL 26; PL 27 than “481-500 Points; 501-520 Points; 521-540 Points.”

That’s pretty much how Space Marine Land Speeders (excepting the Typhoon) are used 99.99% of the time. They have the speed to get pretty much whereever they want and the multi-melta (or two) that they carry is a significant threat... They’re also fragile and most players know that have a very good chance of fragging one if they throw enough shots at it. Too potent to ignore, fragile enough to kill, but not quite so easy to kill that you can only do it with small arms. That’s the perfect recipe for a DISTRACTION CARNIFEX!
  4. There are some decent “close enough” alternatives out there from third-parties if you dig.

    Oil War

Well, many of you probably already saw this, but it looks like WWIII is going to be enveloping the Middle East sometime later this year. I had planned on collecting the British, but now I think I’m going to hold out for the Israelis.
  7. I find it hilarious that Luis’ summary completely ignores Hulk... Because, well, let’s face it everyone forgets that film exists.
  8. Mary Poppins Returns Did you like the original Mary Poppins? Of course you did, everyone does. Do you want to see a sequel that isn’t a soulless cash-grab but is actually a lovely homage to the original that is simultaneously a movie with a heart and soul of its own? Emily Blunt is outstanding, playing Mary with just enough subtle nods to Julie Andrews’ performance but while also making the role her own; Lin Manuel Miranda's Jack is fun; the Banks children are adorable... and the cameos are hilarious if you’re in on the joke, but still work even for the little kids that won’t get it. The songs are great throughout. 4.5 out of 5. Practically perfect in every way.
  9. Aquaman (2019) might just be the best film in the “DCEU” to date or at least tied with Wonder Woman for that slot. I’ve always loved Jason Momoa, ever since Stargate: Atlantis where he was basically the only person worth watching for several seasons. It took the rest of the industry too long to notice him, but he’s great here. The movie’s plot is a rather by-the-numbers superhero fare, with its high point being the all too brief second act that sees Arthur and Mera on a fetch-quest that plays out like an homage to Indiana Jones or Romancing the Stone type flicks. The rest of the film is very much taking its cues from the hyperkinetic synth-pop technicolor kaleidoscope that was Thor: Ragnarok. On it’s own merits, a solid 3 out of 5. Grading on a curve and judged solely against the other “DCEU” movies, a definite A+.
  10. Get’em while they’re fresh.
  11. I'd love to see Gue'vesa human auxiliaries get proper rules, and something like the Brood Brothers rule also seems a natural fit for Chaos insurrections.
  12. Nice set of retro-styled Goblins... https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/656177818/goblins/widget/card.html
  13. If you field the Genestealers in a Tyranid Detachment, they'd benefit from a < Hive Fleet > Trait, wouldn't they? Delicious shrimpy soup.
  14. The're also no requirement to actually have anything in the pod. You could start with the Dreadnought on the table and bring down an empty pod. Makes a nice little reactive "path blocker," if you see that a portion of the enemy army is moving through a narrow chokepoint, drop a pod in their way. They can kill it, but it will take at least one turn to do so...
  15. The Drop Pod Assault rule for the standard Drop Pod is worded to be optional: “During deployment, you can set up this model, along with any units embarked within it, in orbit instead of placing it on the battlefield...” (Emphasis added.) I don’t have my FW Index on hand to double check, but I’m reasonably certain the Lucius Pattern Drop Pod has the same wording for its rule. It’s rare that you’d want to have them start on the table, but it’s doable.
  16. Well, the standard Ork Tankbusta is just one of the regular Boyz whose traded in his shoota or choppa for a rokkitlauncha, although some of the more creative ones will put a rokkit on the end of a stick in imitation of a Beakie's Thunderhammer. So, pretty much anything will work as long as they're roughly the same size and shape as a standard Ork and obviously carrying some sort of rokkitlauncha... Maybe reach back to the Space Orks' classic roots with some Greatcoats, Space Marine or Imperial Guard missile launchers with improvised Orky blast sheilds to look like panzerschreck or modify their stikkbombs to look like panzerfaust?
  17. The Stormraven has a specific call out in its Transport rule that says "[ i ]t cannot transport Primaris models or Redemptor Dreadnoughts." Most of the other Space Marin Transport vehicles have a similar call out. Primaris Infantry can only ride in the Repulsor or Thunderhawk, the Redemptor can only ride in the Lucius Pattern Drop Pod... "Nu-Marines" have expensive tastes.
  18. Unless they change them in the new book, they lack the < Placeholder > keyword to qualify for the special rule.
  19. I used to listen to the Bad Dice Podcast, which focuses on WHFB and then AoS. But after one of the original two hosts left, it quickly devolved into repeated inside jokes and other morning drive time radio type “comedy.” Haven’t bothered to listen to it in years.
  20. Okay, I admire these guys’ dedication to the hobby what with the cosplay and the big hobby space... But, c’mon guys, are you using cardboard stand-up proxies instead of real miniatures? For shame. Also, they need more LOS blocking terrain! Psssh. Amateurs.
  21. I would totally buy a new copy of every single MCU movie on Blu-Ray or DVD if they added a special audio track that was Luis’ recapping the film in real time.
  22. That’s Brian, Jr. But he’s been drinking milk, so one day he’ll grow up big and stronk.
